I have to say I really like the way the singers are billed..."Sheryl Nome starring May'n," "Ranka Lee = Nakajima Megumi"...they fit the characters.

I think the rip-offs are kind of fun...it's like getting an in-joke when you realize, for example, that "Ask DNA" is based on "Where It's At" or "Call Me Call Me" is the spitting image of "Bittersweet Symphony." Hell, it's one of the main reasons I love Puffy (Amiyumi, not the rapper) so much...each one of the early singles is finely honed from pieces of other songs. It's a quick way to make an instant bond with a song, and adds a certain appealling bratiness to the proceedings.

And at least they kept the original Macross music...well, except for the aforementioned awful theme song. So they were going to releases Mospeada and Macross roughly simultaneously...? Seems like they would've finished Macross beforte starting in on another series, but who knows...

I think it might be something of a stretch to classify ALL the power of song moments in various Macross stories under one overarching title, but I think "Minmay Soul" is a more workable theory than Anima Spirita, so I guess I can accept it. But Birla is certainly not a Protodeviln...that wasn't Gigil who you saw dying, it was a human who Gigil had possessed. And there's no way that Birla is possessed by a Protodeviln...there are only three of them left, and none of them are a threat to anyone anymore.

That's probably the wisest way to watch D7...and ya gotta admit, for a story about space whales and space whale poachers, it's got some damn good mecha.

Well...they're making a movie based on the events of Zero, so I imagine the reference quotient will be pretty high... And yes, the set looks like an EXACT replica...as I said before, I can't really see that pier without thinking of it blowing up, the screaming woman in the boat, the crying kid holding his dead parent's hand... Man...I love Mac Zero, but it was kind of a downer...

True dat...but the "next ep preview" music was one that really revved me up for the CD coming out...and then it's not there. But "Private Army" sounds a lot like it, and I guess the CD is okay enough to tide me over... (And by "okay," I mean, "I don't want to see Heaven unless Yoko Kanno is there with a full orchestra and a bank of synthesizers." )
