I added the "Not to say it COULDN'T exist on Eden" specifically in the hopes of forestalling this kind of response, but ah well... I know "primitive" is the wrong term, but I couldn't find a single word that meant, "looks like they crawled out of the oceans a mere dozen or so millenia ago." Anyway, everything on Eden that we saw in Plus looks like a dinosaur. The Hydra doesn't. Just sayin'.

I thought that as well (I also thought of the "Planet Hydra Incident" that Isamu had some part in, according the file on him that Guld tapped into), but enh, whatever. My biggest problem with the Hydra is that, in Mac Plus, it appears that life on Eden is very young and primitive...nothing has quite evolved out of the age of the dinosaurs, and yet, the Hydra looks like a rather more complex lifeform. Not to say that it COULDN'T exist on Eden, but the difference between it, and the pterosaur and the pelican thingy is a little TOO pronounced, I think...like if they had a new Zolan lifeform that wasn't a marsupial.

Get Animeigo. Yes. The sub isn't exactly the same, but it's fine. However, as others have mentioned, the audio isn't as good on ADV. You also get more extras on the ADV version, but the Animeigo has an interview with the director, Noboru Ishiguro, which is quite cool. We've ALL spent money on it. It ain't no big deal. I thought I answered all of this on another thread you posted before... Done. If you don't know by now, you ain't never gonna know... Does that help...?

Ah, you're hopeless! Unless you really, REALLY want a dub, get the Animeigo "subs-only" version. ADV's dub is cringe-worthy.

In the JapANESE one, you mean...? Yes, it was different. Manga Ent couldn't get the music for ep. 4 for some reason, and just used music from previous installments.

A few months back copied and pasted the OVA script to make a movie script for boinger, and I noticed lots of changes that had previously eluded my notice, mostly little changes in dialogue, such as General Gomez getting written out of all the movie's dialogue (since he didn't appear in it) and Guld explaining to Myung what was going on a New Edwards. A lot of the dialogue changes happen during scenes where the animation is unchanged from the OVA version...made me realize HOW MUCH attention to detail had been put into the whole proceedings. Unfortunately, I didn't keep a list of the changes...

I bet they got Aegis Focker to play him. Too bad they didn't get Sheryl to play Sara, that could've been a selling point for the movie... "STARRING TWO ACTORS WITH AMBIGUOUS CONNECTIONS TO THE CHARACTERS THEY PLAY!" And I wish I could figure out a way to shoehorn Claudia in there to play Edgar...

Yeah...I got episode 3 the day it came out, and when I hit the end, my eyes bugged out, my jaw dropped, and the realization that I would have to wait a loooooong time (which ended up being even longer) for the final chapter hit me like a pinpoint barrier punch. Good times... Anyway, to answer the question...I think the OVA had the better beginning and the movie had the better ending. I can't really choose between the two versions.
