  1. What are you talking about??? The original series was PERFECT IN EVERY WAY!!! No, shut up! It was! And the YF-1R was MEANT to be there!
  2. I tried to look at it as a question of "Which do you like more?" rather than "Which do you hate most?" And I have to admit...Macross II threads tend to get pretty positive responses, and keeping any thread about Macross 7 on topic became a LOT easier after Agent ONE got banned...
  3. Of course I'm right! I hung out in Shibuya on the morning of December 23rd, and then saw the Deculture Edition later that same day. When I saw the Shibuya building (which, now that I think about it, may have been 119, not 110) in the show, I thought, "Hey, I was JUST THERE!" I didn't notice any Vajra, though. That must've been happening on Love Hotel Hill...
  4. Y'know...I hated that song when it came out, and I'd almost gotten to the point where I forgot it ever existed... Modern moe trends aren't nearly as annoying as most late '90s rock...
  5. I'm in the same boat. MacII is probably my least favorite Macross series overall, but I think most of that is due to high expectations when it was released. When I watched it again recently, I decided that, while it was far from great, it certainly wasn't out-and-out bad. Macross 7 definitely wasn't bad either. BUT (in keeeping with my earlier pledge for NEW reasons to dislike them), my main problem with both of them is that Minmay's little cousin Yotchan is not the star of either series. We need a series about Yotchan, dammit!
  6. I certainly wouldn't object... Are you talking about the Shibuya 110 building from episode 1?
  7. Considering that the next OST hasn't even been announced yet (and would probably be out by September at the EARLIEST), I think you might be jumping the gun a bit... But yes, I'm sure someone knows whether or not it will be on, and her initials are YK... In other news, I went to Kinokuniya in L.A. last weekend and was horrfied to learn learn that they had neither the Macross F OST, nor the comic...
  8. And then all the children of Macross Froniter turned gay, and started wearing assless chaps, right...?
  9. Bah...errors like this are dull...I wanna see Budweiser missiles, the PARCO department store, and Sex Squadron Valks...
  10. One thing I've been wondering about S.M.S. that I don't *think* has been addressed yet...do they only operate on Frontier, or are there S.M.S. forces on other ships...?
  11. Yeah, I HAVE the video tape, as I said before, and... Oh, never mind. So the Legacy DVD has only the first episode of HG Macross? That sucks.
  12. Um...correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't the Mospeada character designs by Yoshitaka Amano, and the mecha by Kakinuma (who also worked on Gall Force) and Aramaki...?
  13. I've always thought that our understadning of M7's popularity was not so much sales figures for the CDs, but simply the fact that they made a whole hell of a lot of 'em. I mean, there's what, seven or eight SDF albums (not including the endlessly repackageable Song Collections), and, like, twenty M7 albums.
  14. Yep, looks like it'll be 25 or 26, based on the the fact that there will be nine DVDs (or so I've heard). The first DVD will have only episode 1, in both the "Deculture Edition" and the newly edited "Yakk Deculture Edition" (or so I've read). The others will have three episodes each (or so I've been told). So, simple math indicates 25 episodes (or so I understand). But there may be one or two episodes more or less on one or more of the DVDs (or so I assume). Is that enough caveats for you...?
  15. Huh? Animeigo is the cheap one at robotech.com! Only sixty bucks for the whole set (It used to be forty, though...wonder what happened?)
  16. That's not just another singer, that's Ishtar!
  17. I agree with everything that aerocombatpilot said, with the added complaint that the Jamming Birds should've gotten their own 52-episode series, but they didn't.
  18. So...Animeigo it is, then...?
  19. Yeah...I admit that I'm not a big Macross II fan, but I love the music! (The character designs are pretty great, too...although I think Ishtar looked better with long hair.)
  20. I feel like I'm going around in circles here... Ginrai said that Harmony Gold Macross (hereafter HGM) had only one episode featured on "the DVD." I asked "which DVD...Robotech (Legacy) or ADV Macross," since I thought it was an extra on both. He said, "Neither. It's HGM." Which led me to believe that perhaps Girai was saying it had been released, not as an extra, but as a main feature. So I asked if there was an HGM DVD...to which I get the repsonse, "It's an extra on Robotech Legacy." I think someone misunderstood someone else along the way, and I hope it wasn't me...
  21. I'm not really sure myself. I made an offhand comment that it looked very different than what we'd seen before, and others took exception to that. It's more interesting than talking about which episode had the crappiest animation. At least, it is to me.
  22. True. And I suppose there have to be mammals on Eden, we've just never seen them before... If I'd been the Frontier designer, though, I would've made it less feline and more reptilian.
  23. Of course you can! That's what this place is for, of course. But, pretty much, it all comes down to two points: 1) Macross II is a thinly veiled rehash of DYRL with substandard characters and boring plot. But man, that VF-2 looks great! 2) Macross 7...Valks with faces, too much Fire Bomber, space monsters, goofiness..BLEH! Submitted for your approval...we try to come up with NEW reasons for disliking each series, something which Macrossworld has never seen before. Examples: For Macross II: a) Macross II was way too long. b) Wendy Ryder was such an interesting character, yet they barely used her. c) Why didn't the destroy the Macross's bridge? I want to see the WHOLE THING go up in flames! d) The BGM sounds too much like Evangelion. (True, BTW... ) e) WTF??? Flying, transforming robots? Music? A F^%$IN' LOVE TRIANGLE??? This isn't what I watch Macross for! For Macross 7: a) An episode without Planet Dance is an episode wasted. b) Basara is tough, rugged, and manly to the point that the whole story becomes unbelievable. c) TOO MUCH MAX AND MILLIA! Instead of having so much about them, the series should've had more scenes of Michael's comedic bumbling. d) The Protodeviln are too scary. I have to hide behind the sofa during their scenes! e) A gaint robot show told from the persepctive of a rock band? *yawn* That's a TOTAL rip-off of Gundam 0083! Just because we are opinionated doesn't mean we have to be boring about it! C'mon! Strut yer stuff!
  24. Hee hee...Urumi and the Gundam geeks...loved the part when they found out they were staying in Room 0080...
