Mostly I'm on the same mind, but I will speculate that, while I don't know why the Macross is on Gallia 4, I'm betting that it's all Shammy's fault.

Yeah...the ending is a downer, but it's also full of AWESOME!!! Unfortunately, the middle of the series sags a bit, but luckily, it's a pretty short series. And the toy isn't TOO expensive...it's less than the SoC Ideon, at any rate...now THAT's a toy that I want (but can't justify purchasing).

I just wanted to add that I thought Nanase looked especially yummy in this episode.

To be quite honest...yeah, I am. Hollywood getting involved means that more money is at stake, and the parties involved will get more ruthless. If it somehow sinks Robotech and Macross emerges unscathed, sure. I can't really see that happening, however... Good point, but I think your overestimating Hollywood's mental prowess. Yeah, one of my Japanese friends (and Macross fan) laughed out loud when I told her that that they called it "Robotech" here. Certain names don't age well...anything with "tech" or "video" in the name just SCREAMS '80s, just as "cyber" denotes early '90s...
