My assumption is that First Generation = ASS-1 (and any other Macross-type ships built between 1999 and 2010. i.e., none). Second Generation would be the Megalord/Megaroad/Megaload/Megarohdo/Megarord/メガロード. Macross 7 would be third or fourth generation, most likely. I don't really see any other way that makes sense, but whatever. We'll find out next week. (I know, I know...I said I was done with this topic...and then someone has to go and make a whole thread about it...Temptation is strong, and I am a weak man...)

Again, Japanese has no definite or indefinite articles, so the choice of "a" or "the" is up to the translator.

I'm STILL weirded out by this Megaroad/Megalord naming thing...in Japanese, it's the same word: メガロード. So how can it be referring to two different things?

I assume that all the music is owned by Victor, so I figured the same thing. They needed some music for a certain feel, and the MacII stuff fit the bill. What I think is interesting is that II, 7, and Plus music gets recycled all over the place (especially on the drama albums), but original SDFM music doesn't...except on the Macross Classic audio drama. There are a few places in 7 where playing DYRL would be appropriate, but they never do...unless is sung by Mylene...I wonder why...

If they say there were others besides the Macross in 2009-10, then Frontier will drop A LOT in my esteem...VF-0? Fine, I can deal with it. The Supervision Army was created by the Protodeviln? Sorry, didn't mean to drag you into this...I just thought it was funny that someone posted "Many of our Japanese speakers have noticed that it's ambiguous." and then said, "It was mentioned by Shun." I think it this case, it comes down not to translation issues, but to what you think a first generation Macross ship is...I tend to think that means the SDF-1, and nothing else. Others seem to think that the Megaroad-01 is First Generation.

I'm still weirded out by this whole Megalord/Megaroad thing... And yes, the SDF-2 was completed, but it wasn't the SDF-2 anymore. Nor did it end up looking anything like the SDF-1...

I don't really think this is all that difficult...If a First Generation Macross ship was the original SDF-1 Macross, and the Megaroad-01 would be Second Generation, then how many Macross ships (of the same design as the SDF-1) were built between 2009 and 2012? There's the never-completed SDF-2, and...?
