  1. You're probably right, but I think it would be more Grace-like to be whispering the secret password that would initiate Sheryl's self-destruct, and make her intestines turn into runny orange mush.
  2. And blows away some poor schmuck who happened to be standing near the building as well...
  3. Nishizaki should just let it die...he's already sullied the proud "Yamato" name with a few episodes of "Yamato 2520," and the saga already has two fine endings. We really don't need more...
  4. The Varauta forces, sure. But just send out Sivil to suck all the spiritia out of the oncoming Zentradi hordes, and you've got millions of energy sources for her to drain with weapons that don't do diddly-squat against her. She doesn't have to control their minds, just take the spiritia and move on to the next. Conventional weapons don't work against her, she's got an endless appetite, and the only thing that can stop her is Anima Spiritia, which the Zentradi don't possess. It might take a few days or weeks, but I don't doubt she could suck 'em all dry. Oh, get your mind out of the gutter. I didn't mean it like that.
  5. I wrote about something like this before..."Macross: the 08th Destroid Defender Team." Set during Space War I, it would be a 13-part OVA. It would start with 145 main characters, and each and every episode, twelve of them would get shot, blown up, stomped, crushed, or mangled, until there was only one left. Then, in the final episode, as Bodolzaa's fleet encircles earth, he would receive the brand-spanking-new Orguss Valkyrie, go out to defend the Macross, and get blown up.
  6. I think the Protodeviln, goofy as they are, could've beaten them, however...For every Zentradi they would take out of commision by draining his or her spiritia, the Protodeviln in question would grow stronger. Thus, rather than exhausted, they would end up more pumped than at the beginning of the battle. And the Zentradi would have no Anima Spiritia with which to combat them. No wonder Exsedol was so freaked out when he realized who they were...
  7. BOMBAA! Of course you're annoyed with Basara...you're SUPPOSED to be annoyed by him for a good chunk of the series. Keep watching...it gets better. By the way...something I thought odd about this episode that I forgot to mention earlier...At the beginning, Ozma is listening to "My Soul for You" from "LET'S FIRE!!" The strange thing is that that particuler version of the song isn't actually on that album...makes me wonder if they released a Fire Bomber 10th Anniversary Deluxe Edition with a whole heaping lot of bonus tracks...and if so, if there's any way to reach into the Macross universe and pull one out. I live only to serve.
  8. You have sharp ears. it's from the "Macross Vol. III: Miss D.J." drama album. (Track 1 is also from there..."My Boyfriend's a Pilot Part II" never appeared in the show.) It's "Millia's Lullaby," from episode...which is it, 30? "Viva Maria." When Millia takes the baby and shows her to the Zentradi. Not Mari, but Mika Doi (Misa). From the "Macross Vol. IV: Distantly Fading Memories" drama album. Not sure what she's saying yet...but I'll get around to it eventually. Same as track 7. This one was in the series (episode 4), and in DYRL, AND in "Flashback 2012." The big difference is that in the show, it was a capella. Maybe that threw you off... Mika Doi again, from "Falling Snow in the Galaxy," the Macross Christmas album. Not Mari, but the Bridge Bunnies! Also from the Christmas album. Not all the time...check out Millia in Macross 7. Think of the DYRL suits as canonical, but made a few years after the events of the TV series.
  9. True. Episode five, I think. I think some English-speaking fans have theorized that "Minmei" is her real name, and "Minmay" is her stage name, but of course, it's only a theory. But that's the problem...a lot of the names get romanized in various ways even IN the shows themselves. And most of the romanization that's not is not the most careful or accuracte. "Focker," as mentioned above, is a case in point. His name SOUNDS like "Fokker," Fokker is also a bi-plane manufacturer, and Roy is shown flying a Fokker in ep. 1. So really, his name should be Fokker. And personally, I like "Miria" better than "Millia." In English, R has a harder sound than L, which suits the character better. And It's Jan Neumann, not "Yang" Neumann...why couldn't Manga Entertainment's translators recognize a good Scandanavian name when they saw it? All three of these are lost battles, of course...but they still bug me sometimes.
  10. No, Ozma DID say goodbye to Ranka...as mentioned a few pages ago, he said he thought she was growing up, and that he no longer had to be a protective big brother for her.
  11. They must be in the "San Francisco" section of Frontier rather than the "Shibuya" area...
  12. "Pineapple Salad" hit me hard...but then, it's kind of strange...at that time I used to make up stories for what I thought would happen next, and Focker and Kakizaki were the only characters I ever "killed off," both of them BEFORE it happened in the show... It must have hit one of my buddies harder, though...a few weeks later, he had a dream where he was watching a TV show called "Roy," where Claudia wanted to kill Focker, so she put knives in the pineapple, and poison in his cocktail, which he drank. Then Rick found Roy's body, but thought that he should have died fighting, so he put the body in the Skull-1 and launched it. It crashed. The end. Very bizarre. Completely off-topic, of course, but I've been wanting to share that one for a while now... And yes, Robotech is just embarrassing now. I can't watch it anymore.
  13. There IS a lot...and I humbly submit that it's neither as good as Keith and VFTF1 say, nor as bad as Agent ONE and Duke Togo would have it. It gets better as it goes on, though, so stick with it. The last clutch of episodes are pretty great, I think. Back on topic, though, I think the OP for this episode was the biggest WTF in this series since the end of episode 12...
  14. Blame it on being a kid, I say. I was ten or eleven when I first saw RT, and I swear I thought the story was truly happening. When they got captured by the Zentradi in Blind Game, I was pale and shaking, thinking they could all die at any time. I was so embarrassed for Hikaru during the "Mr. Lingerie" scene, that I almost hid behind the sofa. A couple of decades (and some increased sophistication) later, and I don't think there's any way a story really COULD grab me as much as it could then. Which is really kind of a shame, but is much easier on my nerves.
  15. No, they didn't, unfortunately. At least not at the L.A. store. It looks like back issues are being made available, though. If you call them soon, they'll probably be able to get it for you.
  16. DYNAMITE! DYNAMITE! DYNAMITE EXPLOSION ONCE AGAIN! Man, Agent ONE would be HATING this board now... I'm envisioning something like Nausicaa's vision about protecting the baby Ohmu...
  17. Man, how old ARE you? Zeta Gundam: 2 OPs. Gundam Double Zeta: 2 OPs, 2 EDs. Dragonar: 2 OPs, 2 EDs. That covers MY first anime era...
  18. Oh, come ON! Be sensible, that's completely and utterly... -wait a sec- that's completely and utterly plausible... By the way....my favorite homage, beating out the , absolutely HAS to be Ozma's
  19. Funnily enough, I'm also listening to Fire Bomber... Y'know, after watching this episode, and loving every minute of it, I hesitated for a bit before coming here, because for some reason, I was thinking, "Man, this is great...but most of the people at Macrossworld are going to hate it..." Glad I was wrong. But now I'm betting that everyone on Robotech.com will despise it. And...um...why is it that every time we see , he seems to have more ...? They grow up so fast, don't they? I'm just wondering when the is going to sprout, and little ol' will start . Anyway, yes...*ahem* BOMBAA!!
  20. Well, if that's what you think, that's fine, and of course you're entitled. But I think you step over the line by saying that the rest of us are "in denial" about how lazy and formulaic Plus and 7 are. We have a difference of opinion. That doesn't mean that either of us in in denial, or that either of us is wrong. And going to a message board dedicated to a series of shows and saying that the posters simply don't realize that some of the shows suck is pretty insulting. So stick around and revel in the SDFM discussions, but please don't act superior because I like Plus and you don't. That's just trollish.
  21. I didn't have the ISBN number, so when I went in sometime in May, I asked about it, and ended up showing them the website. They wrote down the information and ordered it. Then when I picked up issue oone, I ordered issues two and three. Next week, I'll order four and five, and so on.
  22. That sounds more like a "Kill 'Em All" Tomino series than Macross...I'm assuming most of the characters will survive. That way, if they don't, I'll be plenty surprised.
  23. I thought they established in episode two or three that SMS members don't have proper funerals...they just get recycled. I'd imagine that they had some kind of Gilliam-style service for her, but I wouldn't exactly call it a "funeral." I may be nit-picking, though. Speaking of nit-picking...if people don't want recycled footage, they shouldn't watch TV anime.
  24. Check page 33 or 34 of the Frontier News thread, and when you see the link to "All That VF," click it.
