  1. Is it really that difficult to wait two and a half weeks...?
  2. Found it! Episode 27, about nine and a half minutes into it... Also here: http://www.mahq.net/animation/macross/seven/mac7ep27.htm Admittedly, Exsedol doesn't say a main fleet, he just says a fleet. But everyone is shocked and someone says, "Surely you mean a squadron, not a fleet?" And Exsedol responds, "No, I mean a fleet. And don't call me Shirley." Not as conclusive and air-tight as I hoped it would be...but still, I think the evidence is on my side. Much as I'd like to say that giant badasses bred for war are stronger than a bunch of clownish Elfquest rejects, I just can't.
  3. Good point about regeneration abilities...Zomd and Goram were indeed injured by the reaction weapons. So yeah...I guess a big enough blast would destroy them. Not sure exactly what kind of weapon that blast would come from, though... I'll look for Exsedol's line, though...until I find that, I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
  4. BOMBAA!! (Okay, I'll stop now. ) (Well...not completely. First, I have a P.M. to send to MisaForsaken... )
  5. Okay...I finally see the point of disagreement. You say conventional weapons can work against the Protodeviln. I say they can't. Here's my reasoning: 1) Exsedol said that one Protodeviln could wipe out an entire Zentradi main fleet single-handedly, and IIRC either said or implied that this had happened before. Now, he could be mistaken, but I doubt he is. 2) The only Protodeviln who died in the series were killed by other Protodeviln, with the exception of Gigil, who destroyed himself. Hell, the planet he was on broke apart, and he was still standing. I suppose a case could be made that the destruction of the planet mortally wounded him, but my impression was that it was only the tremendous amount of power he was pouring out that killed him. The destruction of Lux had no effect on him. 3) Reaction weapons did nothing to stop Zomd and Goram. And I don't think the Zentradi have any weapons that are more powerful, or else they wouldn't be the "legendary" reaction weapons. Again, I suppose a case could be made that a WHOLE LOT of reaction weapons would have some effect, but I doubt it, because... 4) There were seven EVIL series bodies made. There are seven Protodeviln. During the entire Interstellar war, the Protoculture, with all of their resources, were never able to kill a single Protodeviln...and I'm sure it wasn't for lack of trying. If there's anything that indicates that the Protodeviln ARE vulnerable to conventional weapons, I either haven't come across it, or have missed it.
  6. Actually...I think it was a DYRL reference...
  7. Good songs all, but nothing like enka. As far as I can tell, all enka songs sung by men are about how difficult it is to be a real man, and all the ones sung by women are about how their lover has left and all they feel is burning...
  8. I had Gubaba for a while, but I kept getting myself confused with Azrael...finally, I figured I didn't really need to telegraph my identity like that, and changed it. But yes, I say the Millia gif is yours. Use it wisely.
  9. Considering that Alto is Japanese, and that there was an enka singer earlier in the series, I probably would've just gone with "enka." Given the context, "oldie" probably would've been fine, too. Usually, I think of enka as being analogous to country, but there really aren't any "It's hard to be a man" songs that are popular in Western culture in ANY genre. And, on reflection, I think it's just a personal bias on my part...I like a lot of folk music (Dylan, Baez, Ochs...all the usual suspects) and I think of it as more politcally charged than Ozma's comment. But that's probably just me.
  10. Those verses aren't in the full-length version sung by Makoto Fujiwara, either. I keep hoping they'll come out with "Macross the Really Complete" that would have that, the a capella version of "Cinderella," and all the songs from "Miss D.J." (Hooray for the Minmay/Hikaru duet of "Blowin' in the Wind"!), but it'll probably never happen.
  11. Sorry, I should've been clearer...Enka is a music style (like folk, rock, country, R&B, etc.), not a song title. BOMBAA!
  12. "Folk" isn't a good translation for that line...Alto said "Enka," which is what the Zentradi singer at the entrance to the Folmo mall was singing in episode 5. It's cheesy and old-fashioned, but it can be loud and raucous, too. I'm not sure they were referring to "Try Again" (the Fire Bomber song playing over that scene), because although Alto's pretty dense, he's not quite dense enough to confuse Fire Bomber with enka...at least, I don't THINK he's that dense.
  13. Bonsai Kittens™ for a new generation...?
  14. If it is, it gets pwned pretty thoroughly...if it's not, then the driver's an idiot for not turning down one of the side streets...
  15. Thanks...I wish I could take credit for it, but it's just something I found somewhere...wish I could remember where...maybe danbooru. And thanks for the resized version! I wonder who's going to snatch it...?
  16. BOMBAA! (By the way...I haven't seen the gg fansubs version...what's the "Sex with Ranka" comment? Do I want to know?)
  17. It's the Anti-Pineapple Cake. By the way, wasn't Kakizaki also dreaming about food at one point when our heroes were captured by the Zentradi...?
  18. BOMBAA! Technically, Keitai-kun is a mecha, right? So, second-for-second, I think that this OP had MORE mecha porn than the previous one.
  19. Watch the Space Warp episode of "Space Battleship Yamato" (ep. 3 or 4, I think...). I'm pretty sure it's a reference to that.
  20. The VF-1SEX is one of my favorites. And for some "extra laffs," go through this one frame-by-frame... (Too bad it's too big to be an avatar, or I would've been using it long ago. If anyone knows how to resize it, they're welcome to it.)
  21. Yeah, the Protodeviln kind of were invincible...they launched reaction missiles and Zomd and Goram and all it did was blow their arms off...which they promptly regenerated. Besides, Exsedold said that a single Protodeviln could take out an entire Zentradi Fleet, and that it had happened before. You callin' Exsedol a liar, Bub?
  22. Haven't you heard? Instant gratification isn't fast enough!
