The "kanpyo" joke is where, for no apparent reason, the bridge bunnies keep calling Max "Kanpyo" instead of "Kancho," and even the announcing robot voice says, "Kanpyo, bridge out." So I've been trying to think of an English pun on "captain" that could work in context... And yes, "Macross Love" is just quotes from the show (rerecorded and slightly modified). Boinger wants to make vids for it, though, and who am I to deny such a generous and upright fellow? Luckily, it's pretty easy to idenitfy all the bits and where they're from, so it hasn't been taking too long...I just haven't been working on it much, since "Miss DJ" has really been absorbing all my translation time. I thought it would be easy since, after listening to it a few times, I had a good idea of what was happening in each section...but of course there's a huge difference between "knowing what's happening" and "providing an accurate translation." But hey, Mari Iijima's playing a show tomorrow night...maybe I could ask her directly for help with it (I'm sure she'd just LOOOOOVE that, wouldn't she? ). EDIT: Hey! I'm no longer a New Edwards Test Pilot...now I'm at the Sharon Apple Concert. Is that a promotion or a demotion...? And more importantly, am I going to get hypnotized now or something...?

I don't know which is more affecting...the one of chibi-Klan putting on the glasses, or the one of everybody hugging him. Either way, I'm choking up a bit...which I didn't do at all during the episode (although I winced A LOT while watching it...)

Sorry it's taking so long to get the third part of Miss D.J. up...Minmay talks really fast in the next section, and I finally had to throw up my hands and I'll buy one of my Japanese friends lunch this weekend so that she'll help me with it....it was one of the parts that I had to skip when I did my lost first version of the translation. On the bright side, I most most of the rest of the album mapped out, and I know where the inaudible or too-fast portions are, so maybe I can finish the whole thing in a week or two (knock on wood). After that, I'll finish up "Macross Love" and then probably help Lynn2009 out with Macross Generation...but strangely, what I'm really looking forward to is Macross 7 Docking Festival...I'm already trying to figure out what to do with the "kanpyo" joke...

I don't buy it. If she were a master of time travel, she wouldn't have kept missing Basara...

If so, it would be the first Macross series to kill off a lot of characters. Nameless bystanders? Yes. 98 and 44/100 of the earth's population? Sure. But most of the characters usually survive. I'm not saying there won't be a huge bloodbath that kills off most of the cast...just that Macross has never taken us there before. Of course, Frontier's done a LOT of things that no Macross series has done before...

Hmmm...I noticed that the first Vajra emerged when she said she wished she were dead...but I must've missed her saying "It hurts." On a somewhat related note, those bat-like Vajra are f*ckin' creepy. And again...I have absolutely no clue why anyone would vote negative or neutral on this episode. As others have said, this was one of the greatest episodes in all of Macross. Thankfully, most of the members here recognize quality when they see it.

I'm confused...was it her fault, or was that what "Aimo OC" was meant to do...? Are the Vajra responding to her emotions, or something Grace mixed into the song?

First, as someone else pointed out, he was good with hitting targets with speaker pods. Second, I'm pretty sure the original post said "pure pilot excellence in battle," not "best combat pilot." Okay, I'm not pretty sure, I'm very sure. I went back and checked. But I'm not going to argue the point anymore. Really, the only reason I'm championing Basara is because it's kind of fun to see (despite the fact that he is clearly one of the best pilots out there) so many people coming up with so many inventive reasons NOT to include him... BOMBAA!!

After reading most of this thread, I'm glad of two things: First, that I didn't go see the new movie. Second, that I stopped reading Star Wars books after the Thrawn Trilogy (which, at the time, I assumed were meant to take the place of Episodes VII, VIII, and IX, and would finish everything off once and for all...imagine my surprise when the ending was left quite open for further sequels. I was so annoyed that I never picked up another one).
