Actually...she CAN sing (and quite well!), but for some reason she only feels comfortable singing on drama albums... In the series, as you say, she'd be useless...unless the enemy got so embarrassed on her behalf that they decided to withdraw just to give the poor girl a break.

Maybe at the start of episode 21, Klan will wake up and it will turn out that the last episode was just a dream...?

I find that rather strange, too. Especially since Michael didn'ty seem to be getting a whole lot of "BEST! CHARACTER! EVER!" posts from anyone before this episode... Let me make an addition to that: Anyone voting negative on this episode is either crazy, stupid, an a**hole, doesn't understand dramtic storytelling, or is too much of a Michael fanboy (or girl) for her (or his) own good. Well...it's in the novelization. Whether that's canonical or not is anyone's guess at this point. It seems fishy to me, but maybe there are more human-like Zolans living on another part of their planet...? Maybe...?

Funny...I was going to say something similar regarding Mospeada, but I couldn't find the right way to phrase it. Isn't it interesting how Robotech ironed out a lot of the pure oddity of these series. Original Mospeada has a few real head-scratching parts, like Mint's birthday song. But that's one of the things that drew me into anime in the first place...

I dunno. Shakespeare did pretty well with it. But yeah...Macross has never been a series with a high character body count. And I'd rather go into the ending thinking that the majority of characters will live (and possibly be surprised) than to go in thinking everyone's going to die (and end up thinking the show is too namby-pamby).

First, he's Zolan, not Zentradi (according to the novelization). Second, he didn't just float out into space, he got speared through the chest a few times. MF has made mincemeat of my speculations before, so I won't say he's definitely dead...but I'm pretty sure he is.

I can't vouch for Southern Cross, but Mospeada is highly worth watching in its original version.

Yes, stranger things have indeed happened at Mari's shows...like the time I met Reba West at one! Ah well, I didn't end up asking anyway. When I saw her a few months ago, she signed my "Macross Love Story" book. And I never really feel comfortable bringing up Macross around her anyway.
