Of course I'm interested in who Alto ends up with, but I'm not really attached to any outcome. If he ends up with Sheryl, I won't be disappointed. Ditto Ranka. Ditto neither. What I'm not interested in is "Why Ranka Sucks," and that's not the point of this thread anyway. And I'm not sure why you want me to read some blog about why she sucks...I have perfectly fine evaluative thinking skills, thanks very much. It doesn't matter to me whether Ranka deserves Alto. It doesn't matter if she's a nice and good person. She's a fictional character, not someone I've met in real life. So what matters to me is whether or not she's interesting enough for me to watch week after week, and so far, the answer is yes. If you want to jump all over me for supplying the (factual, not opinion-based) information that her family was killed, and that yes, she's pretty messed up, go ahead. But don't dump everything you hate about Ranka supporters on my head, and don't tell me where I can and can't post.

Depends on what you're talking about...certainly the average Japanese pop tune makes more sense than, say, a Tori Amos song. I translated a bunch of Shiina Ringo songs a while back, and although they were weird, they mostly made sense. But Shiina Ringo's an odd woman. All of the Minmay songs are perfectly clear, as are most of the Fire Bomber songs. It's when you get to the Yoko Kanno stuff that things start getting ambiguous. But Yoko Kanno is also an odd woman.

I wouldn't be upset if they fixed the bit in SDFM episode 3 where Focker is taking Hikaru and Minmay up to the Macross and his VF-1S has unaccountably morphed into a VF-1A... Likewise, I would be quite glad if they edited the Fire Bomber scenes so that it looked like Basara was actually PLAYING his guitar instead of just strumming one chord over and over again.

I'm not sure what you're getting at about how you "didn't mean" to post the insult, but whatever. Look. You said Ranka's had it too easy. I say she's been messed up pretty hard (I will concede that she doesn't let it show very often...but stuff like being unable to let go of Alto's shirt when they were trapped in the shelter hints at the trauma). How on earth does that translate into me wanting Alto and Ranka to end up together? And I didn't answer your question because it's unanswerable. None of this stuff consciously bothers her because she forgets it immediately after it happens. Now, if it STILL hasn't come out by the final episode, then I would call that bad writing. But we haven't reached the end yet. If you want to know when she talked to Alto and found out more about him, well...we haven't seen that. One could make an argument that the frenetic amount of texting they were doing with each other in the early episodes probably had some probing questions, but we'll most likely never know. For the record, I like Ranka, but I do think she's childish. Still, to say she's had it too easy is just plain wrong.

So it's official now...Sheryl and Ranka are bigger than Minmay, Sharon Apple, and Fire Bomber combined, right?

Agreed. I also like Dynamite Explosion better without the Humming Bird extended intro, but the one thing that I never liked about Fire Bomber was the glossy production. Fukuyama Fire sounds much less "produced" (and Fukuyama himself sounds like he's about to tear your throat out with his teeth), which I think makes it heaps better as a rock album. But then, most of my favorite albums sound like they were recorded in two days in an abandoned warehouse somewhere...
