It's a real "go through the scene frame-by-frame or you miss it" bit. It's IMMEDIATELY after Hikaru crashes through Studio Nue. He uses the foot thrusters to brake, and they show some poor schmuck getting knocked off the screen. EDIT: *looks up* Dammit, it IS Kawamori, isn't it? That's sad. He came to Ataria, watched the Angel Birds, and was probably laughing at Hikaru's fan racer antics like everyone else. Little did he know that that same hotshot pilot would kill him a few hours later...

I'm with you. I've voted positive every time...once I almost voted neutral, but thought better of it. I understand how the "all mecha porn, all the time" crowd will be disappointed by episodes like this one. Every once in a while, I check out the Frontier threads on RT.com, and there's one guy there who seems intent on ripping the series to shreds, and I understand that, too. Azrael's rationale made sense as well. But everyone else...? I don't get it. But then, I think I'm at the point where they could have an entire episode of Luca sitting around in his underwear, watching TV, and I'd still eat it with a spoon. Totally Frontier brainwashed, I am...

Or Michael's energetic and personable "conversing" Valk? Although that was more "funny strange" than "funny ha-ha."

You'd like her, I think. Keep watching Macross 7 and she'll turn up eventually. I don't think she and Klan would get along well, though...she killed (or rendered catatonic) perhaps hundreds of thousands of Klan's ancestors...

I don't. Frontier's been rather short on laughs lately, hasn't it? I think the last time I laughed out loud was during episode 15's sing-off... Which is fine. I think we all expected it to get more serious...

I always felt bad for the poor guy blown away by Hikaru when he crashed at the end of episode 1 of SDFM... And the Zentradi whose head got blown up by Max near the beginning of DYRL (especially in the uncut Clash of the Bionoids dub...where he actually lets out a half-hearted yell. ) As for major characters...well, DYRL Bodolzaa is still the best, isn't he?

My relentless sense of denial tells me she'll be fine. And if she doesn't pull through, I've already asked whispo for a gif of her death scene, so all my bases are covered. (Heh. Definitely. Every few years, I'll have a big wave of Macross knock me off my feet, and this is one of those times. I'm reminded of 1994~95, when I was getting Plus as it came out in the U.S., and wishing there were some way to see Mac7. Finally, I ended up renting the videotapes from a Japanese video store (raw, of course). Now, it really is amazing to see how quickly the episodes can be distributed and subbed. Sometimes...I like the 21st Century. Still, although I'm buying the CDs and magazines and books and the models, I wish there were some way to give even more money to some enterprising American company (or Japanese...I'm not picky) that would put out good R1 DVD releases with really good subtitles. Taking advantage of all the sophisticated technology that enables us to watch the show AS IT AIRS is fun, but I wouldn't mind paying a higher entry fee. Still...I'm getting Macross Chronicles through Kinokuniya, via air mail...that's thirteen bucks an issue, which is perhaps steep enough for my taste...

Pouting? Why? My original intention was to change my avatar every week to keep up with Nana-chan. But it's only recently that I've stuck to it...as soon as she's back on her feet and fine again (She will be, right? Right...?), my avatar will reflect that.

Ditto. I'm always pleased that I get as much as I do. If I understood EVERYTHING, I would think that the dialogue was perhaps a little too simplistic...

It's nice to see them all nice and friendly, isn't it? ...Because if there's anything Ranka really needs, it's an even BIGGER Keitai-kun. And this one just kind of popped up out of nowhere...
