  1. That's a strange one to have as your only M7 CD... Anyway, it's all here: http://macross.anime.net/wiki/Category:Macross_7_audio
  2. Going by the broadcast/Yack Deculture versions, Sheryl walked past him before he met Ranka. But that scene wasn't in the Deculture version. He had his first real interaction with Ranka in both versions, though. I'm not really sure how useful this "rule" is, though...to pick the first example that comes to mind, in Urusei Yatsura, Ataru saw Shinobu WELL before he saw Lum...
  3. Ah, but Yack Deculture came out LAST...the Deculture Edition came out well before then. So he met Ranka first MONTHS before he met Sheryl first! (And yes, I'm just screwin' with ya. )
  4. Whatchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis? It's right here!
  5. "Dear Lord...next time, I want a better haircut. If you do that, I promise I won't assassinate any more presidents. Really...I mean it this time."
  6. Definitely. But I was also quite excited about Zero, as well (and I saw a lot of parallel scenes with the original series which may or may not have been intended...Sara falling off the flying totem pole (or whatever it was) and Shin jumping after her seemed to echo Hikaru pulling Minmay into the VF-1D cockpit, for example...but that was of course before Frontier showed me who homages SHOULD be done). Seeing the VF-0 transform in episode 1 was one of those truly breathtaking moments. 2002 was also the time I had my first MONTH-LONG MACROSS MARATHON MADNESS, which was the first time I saw the end of Dynamite 7 (since the closest japanese video had volumes 1, 2, and 3, but not 4) and, I believe, the first time I saw ALL of Macross II (I had seen the first two episodes in 1992 or '93, but didn't like it, and never saw the rest. Of course, the fact that it was only available in that atrocious U.S. Renditions dub may have been a factor, as well). But yeah...that's nothing compared to now. Mostly because I hit on the idea of doing the Mega Macross Torrent, I've been immersing myself pretty thoroughly in all things Macross...finally tracking down previously elusive things like Macross Generation (enh...) and Mylene Beat (surprisingly good!), putting almost two days worth of Macross music on my iPod, and biting off WAY more than I can chew in terms of translation work... But it's been a hell of a lot of fun. And while I can't quite recapture the passion for the series I had when I was a kid (as I've said elsewhere, I thought the story was happening. When *ahem* "Rick," "Lisa," "Ben," and Max got captured by the "Zentraedi," I really panicked, figuring they would never be able to get home. I completely and utterly didn't understand story logic yet...), at least I can afford more DVDs, CDs, books, magazines, and model kits. And I can understand a lot more of what I watch and listen to, which is always gratifying.
  7. Seeing as how February 7, 2009 is the date of the launch of the Macross and the beginning of Space War I, they'd BETTER do something around that time! Apart from that, I think Frontier is doing rather better business than Zero did...so maybe we will get something sooner rather than later... Well, I can hope, right? That said, I think one of the strengths of Macross is that it (mostly) is under the supervision of ONE GUY, as opposed to, say, Gundam, which used to be Tomino's baby but now can keep going endlessly under any number of creators. The fact that Kawamori is involved in nearly every Macross project gives the whole saga, I believe, an appealling unity of vision which many other long-running franchises lack. Probably one THE main reason I'm still a Macross fan, as opposed to (again) Gundam, where I checked out once they started going into alternate universes.
  8. Hmmm...yeah, there definitely were more cracks in the "Zentradi are iredeemably evil" argument by the time Max and Millia had their knife-fight. But ya gotta hand it to Hikaru for accepting Millia awfully quickly. Alto has no reason to do the same, except for the fact that he should...well...be able to trust Ranka by this point... And yes, grown-up Ai-kun is definitely not going to win any beauty contests.
  9. Tecnically, Macross II was for the tenth anniversary; Plus and 7 debuted at more or less the same time in 1994 (10 Anniversary of DRYL...?); Dynamite 7 was for the 15th; and, as you say, Zero and F for the 20th and 25th Anniversaries, respectively.
  10. But it's more confusing than that, even...which EDITION of episode 1 are we talking about? Deculture, where he meets Ranka first, or broadcast, where he sees Sheryl first? Enh, it's pretty much the same in Robotech. Pretty much the only reason Hikaru comes around is because Millia's hot, which Ai-kun certainly isn't...so I guess you can't blame Alto for that. For the record, I do understand why Alto wanted to kill Ai-kun, and i probably would have done the same in his place...but I still think, however instinctive a reaction it was, it was the wrong one to take.
  11. Hold your horses! He's gotta do Space Hunter, Ator: the Fighting Eagle, and Yor: The Hunter of the Future first!
  12. Life imitating art...? "DAMN," indeed! Now, I'm just imagining Putin shouting, "Everyone! Hold me! To the edge of the galaxy!"
  13. True. However, it's an open question what HG could get away with in a lawsuit. They own the name "Macross." Do they own the kite? Do they own the VF-1? Do they own the name U.N. Spacy? Do they own the name "Zentradi"...? All of this is completely unknown by us at this point. And unless there's some kind of legal challenge, it will most likely remain unknown. Which is probably how HG wants it. I'd love to see Bandai aggressively market MacF to the US, just to see how HG responds... To be honest, I don't think I'd want to see MacF over here as something other than Macross. While I think the show is strong enough to support itself on its own merits, it gains a lot of power from its context as the 25th Anniversary series. Speaking of which...I'm surprised no one's mentioned any Ai-kun/Millia connection...all the people who say that "the only good Vajra is a dead Vajra"...do you also think Hikaru should've pulled a gun and shot Millia right between the eyes when Max introduced her to him...?
  14. There was a lot of talk about that when the series started...most of it died down after the appearance of the Global, however...
  15. Well...it depends on which version you're talking about. The original design of the SDF-2 from the Macross Perfect Memory book can, I think, transform (I can't remember right now if they actually SHOW it transformed or not...but it looks primarily like a larger scale SDF-1. However, that version was (as far as we know) never completed. Instead they redesinged it into the Flashback 2012 Megaroad...which, as you say, doesn't look like it can transform.
  16. To be fair...we don't KNOW that the Vajra are protoculture bioweapons yet...and Macross Dynamite 7, like Macross Plus, didn't have any old remnants of the Protoculture coming back to threaten the present. So they don't always go that route... But yes, it does strain credulity a bit...but so did the whole notion that, of all the planets out there, the Macross would crash on earth...and that the Zentradi would coincidentally locate it on the very day it was due to be launched.
  17. Yeah...If "Shao Pai Long" is "M" History sheet number ELEVEN, we're looking at an ambitious project here. But I think we're done with the VF-1J...if only because it only appeared in one short scene in DYRL, and it looks like they've covered the Armored Valkyrie. I'm guessing SDFM Mecha sheet 01 will be the SDF-1, so sheet 03 will be the VF-1S...what I'm wondering about is if we will have probably five or six sheets for SDFM Minmay, will we have another sheet or two for DYRL Minmay? FB2012 Minmay...? At least the Timeline Sheets seem straightforward enough...
  18. Yeah...I think we'll see a VF-4 before we see a VF-2SS...and I think we ain't NEVER gonna see a Hasegawa VF-4... I think I'm going to try to see if I can't get a couple of the Blackaces VF-1Js...that one's too yummy to miss.
  19. Then please, allow me... To the fansubbers: I think I can speak for everyone at Macrossworld in saying that we truly appreciate the work you do. It's work that many of us simply couldn't do ourselves, and it makes enjoying our favorite shows much easier. So thank you. There are also those of us who have a difficult time with h.264, and would prefer that other options were also available. Lunar releases two versions of each MacF episode, one in h.264, and one in XviD, and I thank them kindly for it. Central Anime also does it with their Legend of the Galactic Heroes fansubs. I'd love to enjoy EVERYONE'S hard work on Macross Frontier, but currently, my options are limited. So please think about it. Thanks again.
  20. Not only that, but he seems to have aged about five years...I mean, the death of his senpai should definitely age him, but I didn't think it would be so...visible.
  21. It's really impossible to know at this point. The pages dedicated to each character or mecha are lettered, not numbered, and (for example) while issue one gave us pages A and B for Minmay, they only carry her story up to the Miss Macross contest...so at some point further down the pike, we'll presumably be getting pages C, D, E, and who knows how many more. On the other hand, issue one also gave us pages A and B for the VF-1J, and issue two gave us page C, which seems to finish up the info. So we'll probably get Guld pages A and B, with more coming along later. It was when I realized that the Minmay and Mylene (hell, perhaps even Mash) pages hadn't finished when I suddenly realized what a massive undertaking this whole thing is...no wonder they haven't said how many issues are coming out; it might overwhelm too many potential buyers...
  22. As Guld would say, "Thank you for proving their point."
  23. Really? I think that story logic dictates that, by going off, she's probably saved Frontier...
  24. That's right! I'd almost forgotten about how poor Yuu-chan ended up as Hydra lunch. (Even though she didn't.)
