  1. Klan's was fake...Alto's never started (and I think it was fake as well). I just wish Grace had written a blog. THAT would be fascinating reading!
  2. EVIL CARROT RANKA IS SICK OF THE HATE...AND IS READY TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! (I'd TOTALLY use this as my avatar right now...but I don't want to abandon Nanase in her moment of need...)
  3. Okay, now I think you're being a little unfair to Minmay...she didn't see Hikaru's romantic potential (and really, who can blame her?) until it was too late, and her schedule seemed to be booked solid all the time. And even if she HAD liked him "that way,' I doubt her handlers would've been thrilled that she had a boyfriend...To paraphrase the Simpsons: "Boys will want to have sex with you, and we want them to believe THEY CAN." I agree with you on Alto, though. Early on, one could be forgivn for thinking, "What does he need to get it through his skull, some kind of sing-off?" And then even THAT failed to move him. As Bugs Bunny once said: "What a maroon! What an ignoranimus!"
  4. Yeah, I agree that she can be annoying, but anime is filled with characters who are WAAAAAAY more annoying than she is. Although I think a lot of why I don't find her uber-annoying is because I really like Megumi Nakajima's speaking voice. Cute but not TOO cute. No, I meant well-written, designed, and acted. Especially acted. Especially acted upon by gravity... OK, I'll shut up now.
  5. I don't either..."Don't feed the trolls" is probably the best advice, but sometimes hard to follow. (I like your new avatar, BTW. )
  6. That's too bad...he'll be missed. But I always wondered...did he do the voiceover for the Urusei Yatsura Movie 5 trailer...? Or was that just someone who sounded remarkably similar?
  7. Someone that eats remations. Duh. That's too bad. I thought your song translations were quite good. Your "Triangler" (for example) is THE definitive version, as far as I'm concerned.
  8. Wow...this is the thread I wanted to start recently, but didn't have the guts to do so (I was afraid it would get spammed and locked). Anyway, I'm sure the Nausicaa reference is this: Nausicaa (in the comic/anime) became a champion for the insects, valuing the lives of humans and bugs equally, and trying to get them to coexist. Hence, Ranka going off to the Vajra at the end of 21 is probably done with a similar purpose in mind. And yes, I think she is going to the Vajra fully conscious of her role as a mediator. And I don't think she expects to return alive. In other words, I think she did a very brave thing by going. I'm not really in Ranka's corner...I like her, and I like Sheryl. But I have to say that the Ranka Hate has led me to defend our little Super Dimension Cinderella quite a bit more than I would otherwise. Most of the people who dislike Ranka (here and on other forums) seem pretty reasonable over all. But with some of them, there's a weird ferocity to the hate, as though ANY statement in support of Ranka is a vile insult. Again, seems bizarre to me, but who am I to deny them their fun? Me, I'm just happy we have two such well-written/designed/acted female characters in this series. And no, I'm not talking about Nanase's breasts...
  9. I just realized: it's now September 2008...which, according to the Macross Chronicle Timeline, is when Zero is supposed to happen... And since, as I mentioned before, the Macross launch date is coming up...and since, while South Atalia Island doesn't exist, there really IS an island where it's supposed to be, I'm telling ya... The time: February 7, 2009 The place: South Iwo Jima The event: MACROSS PARTY!! W00T!! Anyone else up for it?
  10. I've never heard of anyone being turned off by Angel Voice. It is, after all, the only M7 song written by Yoko Kanno. And I love that fan-made "Duet" version as well...whoever put it together did a really good job.
  11. Um...it's been made ABUNDANTLY clear that she can communicate with the Vajra, and that they want to communicate with her. Do you think that she's too dense to realize that if she can communicate with them, she can end the war?
  12. Isn't that what the link to 4chan is for...?
  13. Crap...with THREE episodes released by Shinsen, and now this, it's a big evening for torrents...
  14. Does Laplamiz count...? Probably not. And yes...it's a Gundam rule: "NEWTYPE GIRLS MUST DIE!!"
  15. Gad, I hadn't even thought of that! Yuck.
  16. Maybe not, but she certainly did the FLEET a big favor...and will probably save their collective rear.
  17. *drool, drool* I guess I know what I'm going to be watching once Frontier wraps up.
  18. You know there's a reference to the France gall classic, Poupée de cire, poupée de son in a Sharon Apple song, don't you? So if he'd shot Ranka between the eyes, and then Ai-kun started taking bites out of her head, it would have been...what? Best Series Ever...?
  19. Shinsen Subs is BACK!!! Episodes 12, 13, and 14 are up!
  20. That's fine...I would've done it as a "best song" poll...but there are simply too many Mac7 songs. And I agree that Chie Kajiura as Mylene makes everything better...her solo albums are great, too, and provide an answer to the oft-asked question, "If Mylene did a lot of acid, what would her music sound like?"
  21. What about her decision to go to Gallia IV? back to the topic at hand...I *kinda* get why people are calling her selfish for her decision to leave...but I guess I view it differently. It seemed to me like she was planning on taking on the Vajra all by herself...and that she wasn't really thinking she would be back (you don't say "Sayonara" to someone you love if you're just going out on a little jaunt). But I guess I can see how it seemed like she was abandoning Frontier to the tender mercies of the Vajra. I guess we'll find out in a few days, huh?
  22. Second Fire and Ultra Fire both have it. Me, I voted for Dynamite Fire...as I've said elsewhere. the music made for the M7 TV series sounds a little too polished for my taste...by D7, it sounds like Humming Bird were given a little more control over the musical direction, and it's louder, faster, and harder than any of the albums that came before it. And Dynamite Explosion is possibly THE best Macross OP song EVER (although Lion really gives it a run for its money...).
  23. It kind of startles me, too. I'm used to Minmay hate and Basara hate...but no one hates Basara primarily because he's keeping Mylene and Gamlin apart. No one shouted "DIE MAO DIE!" because she had a crush on Shin...but it seems to me that the root cause of Ranka hate is that there are people who REALLY want to see Alto and Sheryl get together, and Ranka's in the way. I'm sure that if Alto HAD shot at Ai-kun, and the bullet bounced on him and hit Ranka in the side of the head, there's a number of people who would've loudly proclaimed it the best episode ever...
  24. Whhops! Forogt about that one... It's there now, in case you haven't voted...
  25. As I said before, since DVDs (generally) come with both, it's become a completely personal choice issue, rather than a "Dammit, WHY do I have to pay TEN BUCKS more for subbed???" issue. That said, I didn't buy the U.S. Mobile Suit Gundam DVDs because they didn't have a Japanese audio track, and I've heard about people who were upset because the Gundam movies didn't have a dub track...but releases like that are rare.
