Welll...I didn't think it looked GREAT, but it looked interesting...the CGI people didn't look all that good, but the Valks did, and I was curious as to what the story was.

Macross Frontier News Thread IV *Read 1st post*
Gubaba replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I don't know if it means a new production...February 7, 2009 is when Space War I began in the TV show. It may just be a reference to that. -
Clearly, this is another thread I can no longer read, since people neglect to use spoiler tags where they should.

The Future of Macross - Where will it go from here??
Gubaba replied to taksraven's topic in Movies and TV Series
All I ask is that the next Macross story be good, be long, and be surprising in some really new and wonderful ways. As long as it's those three things, the Hory Froating Head can take me wherever his muse and his Bandai overlords wish. -
Well...the Ramayana is pure Hinduism, but I've been reading Journey to the West, which is pretty Buddhist, and certain names like "Vajra" do turn up in that as well...but since Buddhism was initially an offshoot of Hinduism, I think it's same to refer to things like Vajra, Lanka, Arjuna, and the like as terms from Hinduism.
-
I'm sure that's right. Two things we KNOW the Hory Froating Head loves: San Francisco and names from Hinduism.
-
Yeah, I loved the whole Operation Stargazer arc, and I think all but the most unforgiving Macross 7 hater would agree with me. I liked the rest of Mac7, too, but I would have liked to see at least a few more truly fierce battles.
-
It was initially going to be a movie (not sure when...maybe around 1997), and then it was going to get retooled into VF-X3 (around 2002...the trailer you linked to is from the 20th Anniversary DVD), but then it never came out. And I doubt it will. Pity, as it looked kind of interesting.

Singing Santi-U? Yes. Dressed like Sharon Apple? Ugh. No thanks.
-
Yes, yes...if you exclude roughly half of the Macross stories, then the formula DOES work.
-
Damn! That IS great! But it would've been better if Alto had been dressed like Sharon Apple...
-
Yeah, there was a thread a few months ago trying to create a "Macross Formula" for the love traingle, but it really doesn't work when you get down to it, primarily because of the unresolved (and barely-there) triangle in 7, and the rather odd triangle in Plus. The only way one member could make Plus fit was by repositioning the triangle from Isamu-Myung-Guld to Sharon-Isamu-Myung...which simply doesn't exist as a viable option. Besides, you could argue that Isamu saved the day as much as Guld did...Isamu's the one that took down the Macross, after all.
-
But then there's also: Isamu vs. Guld, Isamu ended up with Myung Basara vs. Gamlin, no one ended up with Mylene In Macross Generation, the younger girl got the guy...I can't remember how Macross 7 Trash ended... So your formula doesn't work ALL the time...

Macross Frontier Episode 22 Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*

But Dude, she's got Leon cooties. Ewwwww... -
I wouldn't mind it either...but I'd want to see the original cast, and not computer animated. If they could somehow convince Bill Murray to come back...it could be like "The Dark Knight Returns," only funnier.

I agree completely. Um...every time there's a shower scene...? -
Macross Frontier Episode 22 Talkback Thread *READ 1st Post*
Gubaba replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Hey, it's better ending than VFTF-1's "Basara flies out of nowhere, singing, and the Vajra Inner Beauty Men come out of their lobster shells" ending... And I'll admit it; I'm a little nervous about the end. There is A LOT to tie up, and they've got basically 75 minutes to do it. Which, really, is probably enough time, if they use it well. -
In horrendous, recorded-from-the-other-room sound quality, yes.
-
Let's put it this way...you're watching a murder mystery. When the first person is killed, there's a guy in the next room, who says he didn't hear anything. He's also close to the scene of the second murder. Someone sees blood on his shirt after the third murder. Do you think he did it? More than any other Macross show, Frontier has shown a desire to really f*** with our expectations. I don't know if Alto will end up with Ranka or not (I doubt it), but they're pretty clearly setting up Sheryl and Alto as a couple, just as they're blatantly announcing that Sheryl wll die from the V-Virus. Which is why I'm pretty confident that neither will happen.

Macross Frontier Girls Part 4, Who do you like best now?
Gubaba replied to osamu41's topic in Movies and TV Series
Yeah, Klan's gained some supporters. People seemed to like Kathy at first (because she looked like Misa), then they disliked her (because she was swappin' spit with Leon), and now they like her again (because she's back with Ozma...and, let's face it, there's no way she's EVER going back to Leon). Grace seems to have gotten a bump recently (two of 'em, actually ), but I think people started liking her more once they realized that she was the secret bad guy. As you say, Sheryl always had the edge, but she was a lot less popular when we only had the Deculture Edition to go on. -
No, the Bobby songs aren't on CD, and I think are unlikely to be. The strange thing is that the youtube versions, the NicoNico video versions, the Nicosound versions...it's all the same version! Only ONE PERSON IN THE ENTIRE WORLD has felt compelled to download these songs and put them on the internet! In this day and age, I find that astonishing.

[Emily Latella Voice]Oh. That's very different. Never mind.[/Emily Latella Voice] -
He'll probably regret it before too long...
-
Yecch. Both of those ideas sound very bad indeed.

See, that's the problem...these three Bobby songs (I can't find the Ranka/Bobby "SMS Theme" duet on youtube, but I'm sure it's there) and the Sheryl version of "Space Brothership" or "Brother Spaceship" or whatever the kids are calling it these days, have been floating around for a while now, but all of of them except the Sheryl song are horrible sound quality. I'm not even sure how they were released, originally...it was a cell-phone-download-only release, right...? And why has nobody put them on the internet in good quality? I'm hoping that the first edition of "Nyan Tora" will have them as a bonus disc (like the Cowboy Bebop movie soundtrack with the "Cowgirl Ed" single), but somehow...I doubt that'll be happening.
