  1. I know! I've said it before, but I think it bears repeating...while everyone else gets all hot and bothered and attacking each other over whether Alto will pick Sheryl or Ranka, I'm just sitting here with my favorite character having done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but be unconscious for the last four episodes. Needless to say, I have little sympathy for the plight of the shippers.
  2. Haven't you ever heard of Sleeping Beauty...?
  3. Please...let's not bicker about this now...let's just enjoy the afterglow of episode 24.
  4. Hmmm...that's a possibility, but think about how much prime advertising space on Island-1 is given over to Nyan Nyan ads...I'm imagining that it's reached Starbucks levels of insane proliferation.
  5. Yeah, it's been a good ride. Pity it ended so sad and all. Oh wait...there's still another episode? HOT DIGGETY DOG!
  6. The liner notes mention Yot-chan being the manager. On the album itself, there's a Nyan Nyan ad that is distrubingly similar to the Nyan Nyan ad from Miss D.J. In the Miss D.J. ad, they mention their goal of opening 38 stores. Something tells me they did a little better than that...
  7. Good stuff, huh? From the poll, it looks like even all but one of the nattering nabobs of negativity are enjoying this ep. Or else the other four or five of them haven't seen it yet.
  8. My biggest complaint about the pic is that there's too much clothing.
  9. Isn't that true in most situations...? After all, that's the principle that allowed me to enjoy Star Wars Episodes II and III. And the Bob Dylan concert I went to a few years ago. But in THIS situation, to say something like "Is there any word on whether or not the last episode will be longer than previous ones?" when there has been no information even hinting at that, and no real precedent for it...well, it just seems masochistic to me.
  10. Dude, stop doing this to yourself...you're just setting yourself up for disappointment...
  11. And that's a very good point...Macross F seems to have brought in a lot of new people, who are then going back and checking out the old Macross titles, which is something that really didn't seem to happen with Zero. Of course, I love Frontier dearly, but I never met a Macross I didn't like (although I don't adore all of them). But even if the show were as crappy as all git out (which it's not), it's raising Macross awareness among a lot of people, and most of them seem quite cool. As long as no equivalent to the obnoxious "Gundam Wing pwns U.C. Gundam" people pops up, it's all beneficial to Macross. Which is a good thing, right?
  12. Seven kids? Bah, that's nothing...Shammy had eleven. Reminds me of the old Groucho Marx line on "You Bet Your Life," where he was talking to a woman who had had thirteen children. When he showed a certain amount of shock at that number, she blushed and said, "I love my husband." To which Groucho replied, "I love my cigar, too, but I take it out every once in a while!"
  13. Think of it as "Completing the Legend."
  14. Wow...that's comedy gold, that is...raving about the Shadow Chronicles and putting down Frontier. Reminds me of me as a very young child...you could put an excellent meal in front of me, but I'd say that a McDonald's hamburger was better.
  15. As Frontier has gone on, I've really begun to doubt that it was changed to avoid any disputes with HG, mostly since the kite has shown up, to say nothing of the VF-1A on top of the school and the WTF-1...
  16. Don't rob me of my joy.
  17. That always pissed me off, too. I was quite pleased to learn later that he gets the death sentence from his own dad. Back to the podcast...I was surprised how much all of you disliked the movie. I didn't think it was the be-all end-all of Gundam, although I did like it a fair amount. They had enough material for a three-hour OVA, though...I agree with you that they should've cut out a lot of the extraneous characters. And for some reason, Char's...let's say "altered" methodology bugged me before the movie came out more than it did after I saw it. Five years separate Zeta and CCA...and a lot can happen to a person's ideas in five years. (No, I know it's not a real excuse, but it's all I've got...)
  18. Kind of. I do tend to always like the bitchy psycho girls in anime...but Quess is a little TOO psycho, even for me. I thought she was pretty darn cute when I was 15, but I think that was mostly the ponytail...and the fact that I had no subtitles and couldn't understand Japanese.
  19. By that token, you could predict that both Ranka and Sheryl are going to die, since the OP shows them naked in the vacuum of space, which can't be healthy.
  20. Okay, I guess I'll pass then. And anyway, Orson Scott Card is deinfitely NAGAHUTB (Not As Good As He Used To Be). I tell ya, of all the sf/fantasy authors I read in high school, Stephen R. Donaldson is about the only one who I still like...
  21. I always thought Quess was kinda cute, and she's totally PUNK ROCK! I'm currently downloading, so I haven't listened to it yet, but I love how there's a banner ad for the Shadow Chronicles Blu-Ray disc on your site. Be careful...HG might use that fact against you: "Destroy All Podcasts DX endorses and recommends RTSC on Blu-Ray!" or some such nonsense...
  22. Hmmm...there's truth to that, but I'm still glad Kawamori decided there were new things he could say with Macross. I enjoy the sweeping, epic feel of covering sixty years of future history with the whole saga. That said, if Kawamori retires, I hope Macross retires with him.
  23. There we have it, folks...an almost perfect circle.
  24. I find it amazing how many self-professed Macross fans are unclear on these fundamental concepts of Macross, aren't you? Strangely, although people will say, "no more singing" or "enough with the love triangles," no one ever says, "I'm pretty damn sick of planes that turn into robots." I wonder why...
