  1. Yep. And she says she did a crappy job, too.
  2. This is something i've been noticing from the beginning of the posting of ratings, and I don't understand it. Why do the ratings for, say, episode 25 show what people thought of episode 25? Don't they have to see it (i.e. create the ratings) before the know whether they should have watched it or not...? I first noticed it when people mentioned that episode 7 had sub-par ratings, and why didn't more viewers like the mecha porn? Seems to me that bad ratings for episode 7 would indicate disappointment with episode 6...
  3. One of the Macross 7 P*L*U*S episodes is about her, and shows some of her history. Likewise, Macross 7 Encore contains a little bit more, but you still don't get a whole lot of information. And I believe that, including Macross 7 Encore, she only speaks twice in the entire series. Maybe three times, but I don't think so. EDIT: D'oh! Ninja'd by Mr. March...
  4. Enh, perversity won out. "Lost Peace," it is!
  5. Gad...this is the wrong thread for it, I know...so meet me over here. I have an idea...
  6. ULTIMATE MACROSS VILLAINS FOR THE NEXT SHOW... A WHOLE RACE OF BASARAS!
  7. Listen to the drama albums. Seriously, she simply WILL NOT shut up.
  8. There are ways around that...they're not always pleasant, though. The End of Evangelion and Ideon: Be Invoked are two I can think of off the top of my head that required viewers to have seen the shows in order to "get." The Goshogun movie was kinda/sorta like that, too. Or there's something like the currently-hotly-debated-on-Macrossworld Char's Counterattack, which also demanded at least SOME familiarity with Gundam. With enough ingenuity, they could make a continuation that pleases fans of the show while bringing in a new crowd, too. A lot depends, I think, on whether the Macross Frontier will go back to space. And if it does, would Ranka go with it, or stay on the Vajra panet?
  9. She's a running gag (sometimes literally). The flowers have a certain amount of significance in the last episode, though.
  10. Now, now...be fair. Most people who hate Ranka are not insane Sheryl shippers. All but about three of them on this site are quite reasonable.
  11. REALLY? (I know, I know...I still haven't seen Gurren Lagann yet...it's been high on my list for a while now.) DAMN! I'm a VISIONARY!!
  12. She also sings "Totsugeki Loveheart" in Macross 7 Docking Festival...and Melodious Illusion centers around her, and she attempts (and repeatedly fails) to send Basara a message over the internet. She's also on the Macross 7 Trash drama album.
  13. That's a good way of putting it. And as someone (and I bleieve it was you, Dreamweaver13) said quite a while back...it seems like the Protoculture were too busy putting little tests and deathtraps all over their cities and relics to do anything useful, like survive. So, since you could actually go from Macross Quarter to Island 1 without spilling mixed Zentradi/human blood, or sing a song without waking up some giant being that wants to know if people still fight, then yeah...we've surpassed them. As far as science goes...well, Protoculture science seems to be some creepy-ass sh*t. I'd say that something like Grace shows humanity at least taking its first real baby steps towards doing freaky, Protoculture-style experiments. And I'm not sure the Vajra count as an unqualified win for humanity, but reaching the Protodeviln certainly does. The best the Protoculture could do was seal them away...but Basara actually changed their minds.
  14. Yeah...in terms of story, SDFM kicks DYRL's butt...the way you worded that just made me think you hadn't seen it. It's not just the first few...it's about the first thirteen to twenty episodes (your results may vary). But it'll put hair on your chest, that's for damn sure.
  15. Isn't the A-G-M version the one where Michael unaccountably calls Alto "Frankie"...? We can do better.
  16. Have you not seen DYRL? If you haven't, you should. As Agent ONE memorably said once, "It's more beautiful than sunsets and childbirth." And two episodes was WAY too early to conk out on M7...you have to at least get halfway through the series before you have earned the right to throw up your hands in disgust.
  17. When I was about eleven or twelve, I came up with a story where the crew of the SDF-3 (yes, I was watching Robotech at the time...) met a race of giants much larger than the Zentradi. The only bit I remember was one bit where Hikaru (yes, I knew that was his real name, even then), used his VF-1S to drive a N-Ger, which he then used to drive one of the really big giant's mecha. Kind of the Russian Doll of mecha driving. And it's only now, typing this out, that I realize how lame that was, and want to smack my preadolescent self for coming up with anything so stupid. So yeah...whatever happens in the future of Macross, they better not have Hikaru driving a really big mecha in that manner.
  18. Funny, I was just thinking the same thing. Although I would imagine that if earth were threatened again, that would be important enough to warrant the designation. It's kind of sad to think that macross will never again be as apocalyptic as the first series and DYRL were...on the other hand, it shows that Captain Global knew what he was doing when he ordered the Long-Range Emigration Fleets.
  19. I remember reading an Animerica Interview with kawamori at the time, where he said that for MacPlus, he used one studio that loved to lavish their attention on all the little details (and were always late because of it) and used a studio for Mac7 that he knew could get things done very, very fast. Personally, I think they could've slowed down just a little...
  20. Like Morpheus, I'm planning on enjoying Macross Chronicle. Also, I'm finally finihsing up my translation of Miss DJ, and cobbling together summaries for some of the other drama albums for my Mega Macross Torrent, coming in February. I'm also thinking I'd like to get a group together to fansub all of the Macross stories, but I really need to A) get a new computer, and see what it can do, and B) start getting the remastered Japanese DVDs. I think it's a good idea because most of the versions out there for downloading have crappy quality, and they're not subbed in the most consistent/attentive fashion. And it would be nice to be able to get nice fansubs of the Frontier DVDs. I'm also planning on starting up the Months-Long Macross Marathon Madness on Oct. 3 (26th Anniverary of Macross), but unlike last time, this time I'll only be doing two episodes or a movie per night, since I'm quite a bit busier now than I was in March.
  21. Well...it WAS, as of 2047. but who knows where it is in 2059...
  22. Grace was truly awesome, and I totally didn't expect her to turn out to be evil...I mean, yes, there are no useless characters, but she seemed to have a real purpose BEFORE she was revealed as the villainess...she held Sheryl's leash. But I have to say that one of things that is inseparable with Frontier for me are all the little Macrossworld in-jokes that sprang from it....like Ranka being a FAST Pack Sound Booster (and MisaForsaken's continual asking where that started)...or the "STUPID LUCA!" comments that ran all through the episode 7 thread...or the constant cheers of BOMBAA!! throughout the episode 17 thread...all the weird and awesome GIFs that were lovingly crafted by our members. Good times, guys. I'll miss our weekly pow-wow.
  23. YES! Get rid of Klan! Make the movie kind of a side story...y'know, "Macross F: The Quest for Nanase's Right Eyeball."
  24. But...but..."The Galaxy Is Calling Me" was set prior to the finale of Macross 7...
  25. Dude...you're getting silly. In college, I was a lit major specializing in Post-WWI European Modernists. Subtlety is not lost on me, unless you want to argue that my favorite writers, Proust, Joyce, and Mann are unsubtle. And that's an argument no one can win. (So what am I doing arguing about an anime? Good question...) And no, I probably don't want to be convinced...because if I were, I wold also be convinced that the ending of Frontier was very badly written indeed, and I don't accept that it was. Plus, there's the fact that everyone who has tried to convince me me that Alto chose Sheryl has also felt the need to insult me at the same time, which (SURPRISE!) makes me less inclined to take the theory seriously. But I would like to know...if it's all so obvious, why do only the Sheryl Shippers see it? NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! First her eye (maybe), now her memory (maybe)? You, RedWolf, are a fiend.
