  1. At 2:30 AM Galactic Standard Time today, peace was made with the Vajra, and the war has ended. Macross Frontier has landed on the Vajra planet, and discussions are currently being planned on whether the ship will stay there, or leave after repair work is finished and the ship is resupplied. However, President Leon Mishima is currently under investigation for staging a coup and assassinating President Glass, so the discussions of future plans with be postponed until a new President is sworn in. In other news, former Kabuki actor and current Skull Squadron Valkyrie pilot Alto Saotome remains as dense as ever, and can't decide which hot singing chick he likes better. There may be some late-breaking news on this front, however, so we'll keep you posted. Another Skull Squadron pilot, Luca Angeloni, got his rosy complexion back, and the girl he has the serious hots for finally woke up from her coma. No word as yet about whether she still has two eyes or not, but we'll get that information to you as soon as it becomes available. And finally, despite rumors to the contrary, Skull Squadron Pilot Michael Blanc remains dead. After the commercial break, we'll present a tribute to the late Grace O'Connor, manager to both Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee, who tragically died this evening after attempting to take over the galaxy. This is FNN.
  2. Missing the old days? Hmmm. Sure, there's the thrill of the hunt in finding a Macross Gold Book (I never did, but some of my friends did) or some rare toy or kit, but for actual anime and music, I much prefer now. Would ANY of us have the "Suite Macross" album or "Snow Falling in the Milky Way" if there ere no internet? Some of us might have a smattering of Macross Frontier episodes recorded off of TV, but getting the entire series would be tough (believe me, I know...one of my friends painstakingly collected all 50 episodes of Zeta Gundam, one by one, in the '80s). It might still be easy to find bootleg Macross stuff (with horrible HK subtitles) but think about something like Shin-Getter's fansub of Zambot 3. If you like '80s anime, there's a lot to satsify your cravings now, and if it's chase you like, there's still a lot that isn't online (WHY HAS NO ONE FANSUBBED XABUNGLE YET???). And even a blocky, 175MB file is better than an old copy-of-a-copy-of-acopy video tape, where it either looks like everyone's under water, or the screen fuzzes out any time something in the show explodes.
  3. The 4chan post is, as others have pointed out, a complete fake. So, no...please DON'T hold your breath.
  4. Hmm...I wanted to do something similar, but the Ataria government said I'd have to gain a lot of weight and change my name to "Cocky-Zocky," or something like that. Do you think I should go for it...?
  5. Be careful what you wish for...
  6. If that means TOTALLY F*CKIN' AWESOME!!!!, then I gently concur.
  7. That's very interesting and all, but c'mon...I said "now you know." There's ONLY ONE correct response to that statement...and I refuse to believe you don't know it.
  8. Enh, new Islands can always be built. But really, the only reason I wonder if they'll travel on is because if the movie is a continuation of the story, I just can't see it being planet-bound. Unless they find some really interesting rabbit hole and fall into Vajra Wonderland. I agree with you that he doesn't love Ranka in a romantic sense, and I don't see him ending up with her either. Where we differ is that I don't see a whole of romantic feelings on his part for Sheryl, either. I know you believe that they slept together, but considering that she didn't want him coming near her bleeding finger, I really doubt they went any further than what the show, um, showed. He never initiated anything, and simply didn't show any interest in her sexually. Throughout the entire series, Alto never showed any sexual interest in anyone. Hell, even Basara almost kissed Emilia (and that was mutual, unlike Sheryl's "Shock and Awe" kisses). Alto made no move on anyone, at any time. I know Sheryl was playing some serious mind games with him, so he may not have felt comfortable enough to make his feelings known (as I believe you suggested earlier), but still...we never saw him even close to trying anything, so any idea to the contrary is necessarily speculation. But I don't think either of us will convince the other. I believe that you prepared yourself for a Sheryl ending, so that's what you got. Apparently, Ranka fans feel that Alto chose Ranka. I believe he chose both, or neither. As I said before, if the movie is a continuation, we'll find out in the first few scenes who was right. Personally, I'd like him to end up with Sheryl. I'd also like Mylene to end up with Gamlin, but I can't find anything to show that she did. Ditto here. Anyway, enough of that. Back to the REALLY important question...does Nanase still have a right eye, or not? DAMN YOU, HORY FROATING HEAD!!
  9. 320kbps mp3 version is up at Tokyotosho. Looks like they rushed to get it up, though...no scans, and the tracks are all out of order. But still, it's there.
  10. Yes. Unfortunately, it's too far overhead to make out much of anything except that part of it is land and another part is water. They've barely scratched the surface of Frontier so far. A small bit on the Island Clusters in the Long-Range Emigration Fleet page, one page each for Sheryl and Ranka, and a poster. I expect more now that the series is over...
  11. I don't think anyone's saying it's been "reset." At least, that's not the way I view it. I think the real problem is that a lot of people who prefer one girl over the other made a lot of inferences that may not really be there (I'm not saying they're not there, however...I have yet to go through all the love scenes with a fine-toothed comb). For example, if I thought Sheryl and Alto had slept together, then I would also believe that Sheryl had the upper hand by the end. But I don't think they slept together. And I don't think Alto thinks of Ranka as "just a friend," either. Sure, the Alto/Ranka relationship started off with a bang, then took a backseat, then got thrust in the spotlight again, then took a backseat again in the final episodes. But I don't see why he still can't love her just because she's been away for a few episodes (and even though, yes, he's living with Sheryl...and clearly loves her, too. By the way...will he and Sheryl continue to live together now that Frontier has found a suitable planet? Will Frontier take off again, or is it just staying for repairs and then going off back to space?). So I think the fact that you wanted Sheryl and Alto to get together, and looked hard for signs that it would happen this way has led to you to...perhaps lend more significance to certain developments and possibly ignore others? Maybe? Not that I'm the know-all of the Macross F love triangle, but I think it's clear that he views Ranka as more than a friend (but not quite a lover). (Ditto Sheryl.) True, most of the Ranka/Alto "action" happened in episodes 12~16, but as you say, it didn't magically "un-happen." They're important, and they matter as much as the Sheryl moments. Now perhaps you can explain why, if Alto chooses Sheryl, the series ends a) without an explicit reference to that outcome, and b) the two girls singing "Triangler" as a duet, still asking Alto which one he's going to kiss?
  12. YES!!! "Next Ep Preview" music! FINALLY! It's kinda long. And funky. EDIT: As of track 5, I have officially $#at myself. Like, fourth dimensionally.
  13. The new "Triangler" blows my socks off.
  14. That's a long story...and it's not terribly funny when you get right down to it. Basically, in 1999, when Animeigo released the SDFM DVD set, there was a photo of one of the Animeigo guys holding up the box and some other people bowing down before it. Oh, and lightning was coming out of the box, filling the acolytes with pure, unedited Macross goodness. Well, someone slapped a picture of Kawamori's head looking down over the whole thing (or maybe Kawamori was there in the original photo, but I don't think so) and being well pleased with the whole proceeding. So, thanks to that photo, he became The Holy Floating Head, which later, rather lamely, got turned into The Hoary Fraoting Head. See? Not very funny. But now you know.
  15. I checked dmhy (where this sort of stuff usually pops up first) but didn't see it... Nothing at Tokyo Toshokan, either. EDIT: Nevermind.
  16. +2 Thanks!
  17. Nor have we seen the VF-1S or the VF-1A...the many variant paintjobs for the 1A could translate into lots and lots and lots of pages for it. Did its feet ever do anything else of note...? And it looks like we're going to have AT LEAST two more Mylene pages, if not more.
  18. Since I don't have those, I don't know. Sorry.
  19. What 'bout "Macross F: The Galaxy is Being Machida-Punched by Frontier"?
  20. And the third hand might itself be a reference to Misa's infamous third hand near the end of SDFM episode 27...
  21. Max in a VF-22 didn't put a smile on your face? Wow...I knew you hated Macross 7, but that's just...wow. Okay, I guess I stand corrected:
  22. Macross Love Story is...okay. It's pretty much what it says it is...lots of pictures (from the show) of Hikaru, Misa, and Minmay. If you're looking for stats or anything mecha-related, it's not a good resource. It does have some early character design sketches though, and LOTS of photos of Mari Iijima. I remember looking at those when I was a kid, thinking she was really, really cute. Little did I know that a mere fifteen years later, I'd actually meet her...
  23. It was released with the newest Japanese DVD box set of SDFM (and, as such, is around as an MKV). It was also the version used on the first tape of the old Robotech Perfect Collection. But that was on VHS...so it may have been before your time.
  24. We saw Galaxy hiding (and looking entirely undamaged) at the end of episode...fifteen? I think...?
  25. Show me someone who hates episodes 43 and 44, and I'll show you someone who's not a Macross fan.
