  1. Alas, OST 3 is a Vocal Collection, so you'll have to wait for OST 4 or something...
  2. I picked "Lion," because it's a great opening song, but really, a lot of the songs are so high up on my list that picking just one is dependent almost entirely on how I'm feeling at any given time. I'm actually kind of annoyed at the Nyan Nyan Service Medley, though...because now, whenever I listen to "Lion," I keep expecting to hear "Ai Oboeteimasuka" woven in with it...
  3. Yep, that's what i was talking about... *sigh* Guess I'll get to work on the Protodeviln page or something instead...
  4. Hey, if it's got Sheryl's "Aimo," the duet version of "Infinity," and the Ranka version of "Diamond Crevasse," then I definitely will be picking it up. I wonder how long it'll be before we get a track listing...
  5. Enh, I think my point still stands...animation technology hadn't improved THAT much in those four years. Of course, I'm using the Zeta Gundam movies for comparison...
  6. God DAMMIT! Why does EVERYONE around here want my fanny? I'm getting near the end of translating that section...should be this weekend or next. I'll post the translation when it's done.
  7. Two flaws in your argument: DYRL and Escaflowne. Both came out quite soon after the original shows finished. I dunno...fully reanimated Frontier doesn't excite me all that much more than the idea of a clip movie, though. And I don't think the story really needs to be continued... I guess I'd prefer a side story or something. I'm not sure where they could fit one in, though, since there were no obvious gaps in the series. I think the only way I'd really like a reanimated version is if they went all-out DYRL-style and told the story in a COMPLETELY different way. If it were done well (i.e. better than Escaflowne), it could be a lot of fun.
  8. Yeah, as you suspected, that's the Program from the concert last July. Did Animate have a lot of them...?
  9. Harry Potter gets pretty serious by about book four, so I'm not sure that your statement is all that devastating. Other than that, I more or less agree. But I do think that a lot of people are bandying about "Western standards" and "Eastern standards" without defining what they mean by those terms, so that nobody is on the same page.
  10. I think we need to define "western standards" and "eastern standards" if that is to be a profitable line of thought for this thread (especially since Ghibli seems to be some of the Japaneseiest* anime I've ever seen). The general assumption seems to be that if it's a well-told, linear plot, that's Western Standards. If there's a lot of "Whose anal cavity did they pull THAT ending out of?"-type talk, then that Eastern Standards. Oh, and naked girls seems to be an eastern Standard as well, since I guess western guys don't, y'know, dig chicks...or something like that. * The neologism "Japaneseiest" is copyright 2008 by Gubaba. Any use of the term, even in cases with no financial gain, can and will get you fined up to 10,000 units of the currency of Gubaba's choice.
  11. "ARRRGH...I'm overdosing on Hope...! And the Dreams...there's too many of 'em!!" [Commence nosebleed]
  12. Great. Another inconsistency. And it looks like the fans have to do some REAL heavy lifting in order to rationalize it... I dunno. Until Macross Chronicle addresses the issue, I'm going with whatever Mr. March says. Unless he starts saying again that the Zentradi could beat the Protodeviln.
  13. If you're against breasts, then really...what are you for? Naked space karaoke, man. It's a winner every time, and it never gets old.
  14. My advice is to stop over-thinking it. It doesn't make any sense, but go with it anyways. If you REALLY need an answer, I'd think of "Do You Remember Love" as being like the Titanic theme. It wasn't actually played on the Titanic itself, but that infernal song comes on the radio and all you can think of is that ship sinking and (if you're lucky) Kate Winslet's breasts. Thus, after 2031, everybody who hears DYRL can only think of that ship fighting and (if they're lucky) Minmay's breasts. All just my opinion, of course. However, Macross Chronicle seems to be leaning towards the hard-line SDFM-is-canon position. The timeline has only shown pics from the TV series, and the events portrayed are likewise from the TV show.
  15. Guilty? ME??? No, no, no...obviously, YOU'RE the one who feels guilty! It's YOU YOU YOU!!! Geez, will everyobdy STOP STARING AT ME LIKE THAT???? *ahem* I mean...yes, she's huge. But clearly, she's nobody's favorite but mine. Which I guess means that I am now Macrossworld's Official Absolute Nanasist.
  16. Hey, don't pin this on me! Sure, I formed an organization, sure we had a few members, but I never tried to convince anyone that it was huge. Hell, I just randomly decided early on that she would be my favorite character...it was all pure dumb luck (thought it did give me a certain thrill whenever she'd appear on the show, which she did frequently. And I was really pulling for her at the end. Too bad she didn't wake up until the final credits were almost over... ). Anyway, I'm glad I picked her instead of, say, Raramia. Although it would've been fun to start making angry posts about how Frontier was good when it started out, but completely sucked after episode 14...and trying to come with reasons WHY it started sucking then, to cover over the fact that my sole real reason would be Raramia's death...
  17. The Entertainment Bible Series is wide and various...but there are only two Studio Nue volumes, of which "Entertainment Bible #6" is the first. Think of it like the Newype 100% Books...it's a huge series, but only four of them are about Zeta Gundam; there's one for Dragonar, one for Evangelion, one for Time Stranger, etc. But they each have a number, since they're all in the same book series.
  18. Isn't three CDs fairly common for TV shows...? "Ninjiin loves you ORRREEYEEEEAAAAH!!!"
  19. Both good points...it really could go either way, and a lot depends on what the final film (assuming there is one) turns out to be. But I'm beginning to see a possible silver lining...mostly since i realized a while back that if Carl Macek hadn't been an idiot, and had actually picked up DYRL for release as a "Robotech Movie" (instead of saying it would be confusing for RT fans), Animeigo might have been able to pick it up when they did SDFM. But it is indeed a slender hope, based as it is on the idea that a bunch of kids in 2015 (or whenever the movie would get released) will say, "Damn, that movie's GREAT! Let's check out the thirty-year-old cartoon it's based on!" And then that they would further state, "Damn, this cartoon SUCKS! Maybe we'll like it better if we watch it in its original language!" Neither of which seem terribly likely.
  20. Since, as you say, it's far too early to tell anything (especially whether or not the project is in Development Hell. For goodness sake, it was only ANNOUNCED about a year ago...these things take time. Lots of time), I'm just musing here...if the movie DOES get made, and somehow manages to be very successful indeed, is there the slightest possibility that it would send people back to the Robotech cartoon...which then would get some of those people to check out Macross, which could then put pressure on the people involved to bring out more Macross to the western world? In other words, we know that Frontier has definitely helped expand "Macross Awareness." Might a Robotech movie accomplish that as well...? (Probably not, but thought I might as well ask...)
  21. As much as I like Phantasm (Kaifun Britai FTW!!!)...it is my considered opinion that your assessment is completely bonkers. I recommend that you listen to all available Minmay, Mylene, and Ranka versions of "Do You Remember Love" until sanity reasserts itself. Who's "Fokker"?
  22. Is he part Sound Booster, too? Because if he is, then we know what happened to Ranka's other brother...
  23. I don't think so...the 2002 2CD Macross Song Collection is VICL 61003-4, and (to take the first Japanese CD+DVDs that I grabbed) Heavy Starry Chain by Tommy Heavenly6 is DFCL 1327-8, Enemy by The Brilliant Green DFCL 1410-1, and My Story by Puffy is KSCL 1270-1. So it easily could be a CD with a DVD. Unlike Renato, however, I hope that it will be a two CD set. So one or the other of us is bound to be disappointed.
  24. Yeah...Froniter with Sheryl as a supporting character wouldn't have been half as good. But remember, Minmay was originally supposed to be a VERY minor delivery girl who occasionally trotted up to the bridge to deliver chow mein to the crew, and she turned out pretty well, too. So...it's almost like the actual creation of Sheryl's character is another homage to SDFM...
  25. Now you're just being silly. If given a choice between DYRL and Global's Report, you'd actually say that DYRL is only a little bit better...?
