  1. Good point. (Of course, we all know the REAL reason is that animation technology improved between 1982 and 2002, but that's no fun. )
  2. Prepare NOW for the disappointment you'll feel. "Parasite Eve" is actually rather dull (especially considering the bloodthirstiness of the other movies you cite). Instead, may I recommend "Stacy: Attack of the Schoolgirl Zombies"? The story makes NO SENSE, but it doesn't skimp on the gore. And how can you hate a movie that features a zombie-killing chainsaw named "Bruce Campbell's Right Hand 2"? And if you like Aya Ueto, have you seen her sublimely ridiculous, completely dada SoftBank commericals? It helps if you know some Japanese, but its not necessary.
  3. Well, duh. Mecha porn is all about watching stuff blow up real good. Real porn, on the other hand...well, let me put it this way: If I'm hungry, I don't really want to watch a film of someone else eating a hamburger.
  4. As others have alluded to, I think one of the main problems is one of reflexes...Michael's "emoting" VF-25 notwithstanding, a Zentradi soldier will always have better reflexes than a guy pulling levers and stepping on pedals. Battroid vs. battroid always seems more successful than battroid vs. Zentradi. But my main point was that Hikaru has had A LOT of training by the time he fights with Britai. I have to wonder if the limitations of the battroid weren't showing in that fight (and in Focker vs. Kamjin in DYRL). But then, if Britai (and Kamjin) had pulled that head-crushing move on a live opponent, would his skull have been driven into his spine as thoroughly as the battroid's head got smashed? If not, then the battroid is simply structurally inferior, and can't engage in the hand-to-hand combat it was presumably designed for. If so, well...then the battroid is perhaps better than a Zentradi, who I assume couldn't fight very well with a bashed-in cranium.
  5. "Chungking Express" and its kinda/sorta sequel "Fallen Angels" are definitely two of my favorite movies. I'm not a huge Wong Kar Wai buff, but those two are exquisite. One of my favorite Japanese movies that somehow never made it big outside of Japan is "Swallowtail," directed by Shunji Iwai. Really long, and really odd, but very, very cool. And like the aforementioned Wong Kar Wai movies, it's got a TON of really good music in it...which is always a plus for me.
  6. Still nothing yet on the VF-1A, which will probably be many pages long, since there are so many variants...and the Armored Valkyrie...and then they have to do the DYRL VFs. So yes, I definitely think there's more to come.
  7. Contents for Chronicle 12: Mechanic Sheet * VF-11 MAXL Kai (Hmmm....was anyone really clamoring for this one...?) * Fulps Balence (Bodolzaa's fortress, right...?) * SDF-1 Character Sheet * Mylene Flare Jenius (Are they done with her yet?) * Bodolzaa Gallery Sheet * Macross 7 Timeline Sheet * The End of Space War I History Sheet * Miss Macross Contest World Guide Sheet * Inside the Macross Song Sheet * The Sound of You / Blue Aether Goods Sheets * Transformable Toy - Yamato SV-51 Extra Sheet * Production Data: SDF Macross
  8. Hmmm...coulda sworn this thread had been locked...
  9. Battroid, man. No battroid = no Basara. And I know for a fact that E*V*E*R*Y*O*N*E on Macrossworld jes' LUUUUUUUUUVS to listen to his song.
  10. Oh, MisaForsworn, whatever shall we do with you? I bet if Klan were the singer, you'd not only know all the titles, you'd have the lyrics memorized...in Japanese, no less. Anyway, I know the Gabriela Robin fansite has the English titles, but I'm too tired to look for the link... Don't forget "Triangler." Great use of the opening song to end an episode.
  11. Man...just when I think I've run out of Nanase images to use as an avatar...thanks! Ah. Missed that second update. Clearly the ANN guy and I were looking at the same text... And at last we know the schedule...it's quarterly. Which is fine by me.
  12. PM'd you, too.
  13. Do you really need it? You know all the songs...
  14. Agreed. After getting my panties twisted over the WTF-1, I finally learned How to Stop Worrying and Love the Continuity Roller Coaster. That said, the "TV series or DYRL" question never bothered me all that much...it's all fiction, so why worry about which one "happened"?
  15. MisaForsaken, I love you like a brother, so it hurts me when you say stupid things like that. But enough flamebait...here's something I found on Google search: I'm not entirely sure what the whole means...but it mentions the Mikimoto manga, a Macross F Gag Manga, and newly created story manga; information on new DVDs, games, and animation; and columns written by various people associated with Macross (it'd be nice if one of them were Mari Iijima, her blog on her old website was kinda fun). The prices in the lower half, however, elude me...mostly because (once again) I'm too lazy to pull out my kanji dictionary for something like this. It's getting enough of a workout from the VF-25 page in Macross Chronicle.
  16. dagNABBIT! That looked all kinds of awesome. Oh well...
  17. Clearly, I need to get back to Japan soon...Eva 2.0 AND MacF...? Too good to miss!
  18. Haven't listened to it yet, but I've always been convinced that Beautiful Dreamer is an actual time abyss. I like it a lot, but any time I sit down to watch it, it always seems like it's at least three hours long, despite what my clock tells me.
  19. Man, this thread has gone completely off-topic, but I LOVE IT!!! Really, as a big fan of irony, it's nice to see everyone being ironic...and, more importantly, EVERYONE ELSE UNDERSTANDING THAT IT'S IRONIC. This kind of high-level communication is so rare on the the internets that it should be cherished. And for anyone saying that Doug Bendo should post here, didn't you listen to his first podcast? He said that the Macrossworld staff INVITED him to write stuff for the website, and he refused. ...And I'm sure it happened EXACTLY LIKE THAT, too.
  20. I'm working on it...it's taking me a lot longer than one of the character sheets, though, so please be patient.
  21. Whew. You had me worried there for a sec. For a character who only shows up at the end of the series, Kaworu made a pretty big splash (so to speak). I think he would be hard to forget...
  22. Erm...did you watch the whole series? Specifically episode 24? And Kaworu's not emo, he's just gay.
  23. Hmmm...I'm a little worried about the two "SIGNAL LOST" screens below the 04 face shot... But yeah, why IS Ramiel back? Very weird.
  24. That's a relief...although I know I'll have to buy a third binder anyway, so why not now? I am! I am! But I've got to get them sent to one of my friends in Japan, and then she'll send them along to me. Getting them might be more trouble than it's worth.
  25. Okay...I talked to the owner of Comics Factory today, and he said that the guy who was talking about seeing Watchmen is someone who actually worked on the movie...so that I should take his enthusiasm for it with a grain of salt.
