You guys are scaring me, a little. Personally, I think someone who doesn't know the difference between Macross and Robotech should be pitied (and instructed) rather than censured. (If, however, upon seeing Macross, they still say Robotech is better...then by all means, hit 'em with everything you've got.)

Macross Frontier Series Discussion Thread *READ 1st Post*
Gubaba replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
I dunno...a lot of the Ranka hate here certainly wasn't playful at all. One member in particular seemed to make it his business to personally insult anyone who didn't hate Ranka. Thankfully he hasn't shown up since the series ended, since he hated the ending so much. And hey! I'm no longer at the Sharon Apple concert. Too bad, really. Being a Macross II Surivivor isn't nearly as much fun. -
Have you ever had a situation where you think you know that something is true, so you never check it? And then of course it turns out to be wrong? I think that's what happened here. Anyway, yes...if the guy's NOT joking (and if he is, he's pretty deadpan about it), then this blog is Macross/Robotech Follies at its finest. But he makes couple of good points...don't you all think Ranka could be Dana's grand-daughter? As for Klan being a MILF...well, maybe all the other MILFs got sick of the MILF Hunter constantly tracking them down, so they hired Klan to take care of him. There he was, minding his own business, hunting some MILFs, when suddenly a huge blue-haired Meltrandi steps out from behind a very large tree and says, "So...now the MILF Hunter has become the MILF Hunted!" And he'll scream like a baby vervet monkey and run away, never again to molest our wondrous natural resource: MILFs in their natural habitat. I think I've typed the word "MILF" more times in that last paragraph than I have in my entire life.

It depends on what you like. If you want a big nice picture of the VF-1J, pick up issue 1. If you want a whole lotta Mylene, get issue 2. Another thing that makes you question difficult to answer is that Macross Chronicle isn't really a normal magazine. It's a Macross Encyclopedia, released a few pages at a time, in seemingly random order. So if you like Basara's VF-19, you'll have to get issues 1 and 6, with more pages probably forthcoming in future issues. Think of it like trading cards, rather than a magazine. Still, EVERY issue features a new bit of mecha art by Tenjin (he of the Hasegawa model covers) and a poster, and two-to-three other pieces of original art. So again, "cool pictures" doesn't give me enough to go on. Specifically, what you like?

I may be wrong, but I had always heard that the Sentinels designs were different so Tatsunoko could release the show in Japan as a separate work. Seems a little far-fetched, considering the poor quality of the animation (fragile panther-bots, I'm a-lookin' at YOU!), but you never know.

I would imagine that some kind of news probably got back to other Zentradi, and they may not be all that eager to have some kind of conflict with the civilization responsible for the destruction of Bodolzaa's fleet, either. Mutual avoidance + the huge size of the Milky Way = not much contact.

Bingo. It's much easier to make a Kakizaki 1A (or a Max 1S, or, heaven forbid, a Kakizaki 1S) than it is to make an entirely new VF-4 mold. And the mold is not easily reusable, unlike most of the other Hasegawa kits, 'cause they've only ever shown one VF-4...no variant colors or anything (well, I suppose they could release a "Mahara Type" from Macross 7 Trash, but that would probably not be a hit). I'd love to see one, but unless Hasegawa gets a really big bump in sales sometime soon, I doubt I ever will.

I hope you're right. I don't care how we get legal Macross, I don't even care if we help fatten up HG's coffers in doing so...I just want to see it all in the west, and done well. Still, the picture you present is quite sensible and logical. As such, I doubt it's actually going to happen.

Not getting the Wendy's mustard analogy really destroyed your sense of self-esteem, huh? Anyway, I find that whenever I change my avatar, the old one hangs around for a day or so...but it gets alternatately stretched or crunched to fit the dimensions of the new avatar.

Wow...I was just joking. I can't believe it's real...and it's not half bad, to boot. Thank you. Understanding has finally been reached. (And I'm not ashamed that I didn't know it. ) Hmmm...there was something that I wasn't sure how to translate in the Chronicle (World Guide Sheet: Zentradi: the bit about Zentradi History) about possibly some kind of "Culture Master," but, as I said, I may have been reading it wrong. And anyway, the guy would've been long dead before the Zentradi came to earth, so I suppose it makes no difference either way... But still, it might be something.

The usual: pics from the show, lyrics, and liner notes.

*WHISH!* (That's the sound of that one flying right over my head...I don't follow you. )

Bad MUSIC, yes, but great video. They may be a lot wrong with pop music, but there ain't nothin' wrong with breasts.

Yes, a lot of the anti-HG/Toynami brigade has been a little extreme here, but I think you're pushing it too far in the other direction. So you can buy Nausicaa. Great! Can you buy Macross Zero? And if not, why not?
-
Yeah, I think you do need someone in Japan to bid for you. I don't think you should knock yourself out about them, though. If they turn up, great. If they don't, I don't think we're missing anything essential (or even terribly desirable).
-
But what would you do with the Goods Sheets and the Timeline Sheets, both of which 'cross over" from one series into the next? No, I think when Binder Three begins, they're tell us to put World Guide Sheets and Special Sheets in it.

Oh, there are far worse things out there than Britney, believe me... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eiuHdUkuRi0

Tell me about it. The Japanese version sucks. I much prefer Macross in the original Portuguese.

Flashback 2012 -- is there a viable torrent?
Gubaba replied to Skull1986's topic in Movies and TV Series
Well, it's not a torrent, but there's an srt file available on this very site: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=244 But...I have to wonder...does FB2012 really NEED subs? -
Hmmm...too bad both of those auctions have ended. However, given the rather poor quality of the Macross 7 CD Cinema albums (yes, I've listened to them all now, thanks to Macrosshare and iMacross IV), I would imagine that these cassettes are equally boring, if not more so. Still, if whoever bought them on the auction transfers them to mp3 and uploads them, I'll gladly listen. EDIT: I just realized who I was talking to...Markcell! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for making getting a complete Macross audio collection MUCH, MUCH easier! You are awesome! Oh...and welcome to Macrossworld!

Ummm...yeah, they are. We've been talking about them for a while here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=690810

Cocteau Twins and Stone Roses top my list, along with Arthur Lee and Love (which is probably the most permanent, since he's, y'know, dead). I was also really upset when I was a kid that I didn't get to see the Who in 1989, but in retrospect, I don't think I missed much. On the plus side, I saw the Pixies three times in their prime, and I once saw Beck WAAAAAAY before anyone knew who he was, playing outisde the snack shack at Occidental College. I was also at the show at the late, lamented Raji's in Hollywood the night they filmed part of the video for "Loser," but I'm not in any of the footage. I also saw Weezer a bunch of times, and managed to snag a backstage pass when they played the Universal Amphitheatre in '93...where I met Gene Simmons, who was also milling about the backstage area (weird night, folks).

Dragon Ball movie rescued from dev hell?
Gubaba replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Actually, it's kind of hard to tell how good or bad it is from that trailer...but it sure as hell don't look like Dragonball.
