  1. As Sketchley said, all you need to do is go to the first post in the thread and click the link there...but if you really want me to repost it, I guess I can. I wasn't sure about whether it was left out, or different, or what...so you'll notice that I (rather cleverly, I thought) said, "The S variant has four, the G has one, and others have 2," instead of (as you say) "...and THE others have 2." Both are acceptable renderings of the Japanese, but I figured the one that left some wiggle room was better Of course, how many "other" variants are there? I can only think of two, the 25F and the RVF...but possibly there are others as well, and those ones have two beam guns. Maybe.
  2. I don't think anyne does. Many people here had problems with Frontier, but speakers attached to Michel's VF wasn't generally a breaking point for anyone. In fact, IIRC, most people here loved episode 12, and it turned a lot of people who had been feeling iffy about the show into big fans. Episode 8 was a much bigger problem than 12. *** Also, your statement "Macross 7 sucked, and everybody knows it" has two factual errors in it.
  3. Okay, I added a bit more to the VF-25S section. I hope to add more tomorrow, and finish the damn thing soon. I certainly hope the "B" page doesn't arrive anytime soon.
  4. Ah. Well, that sucks. Does this mean we have to add him to the list of manga artists who can't seem to finish their "life-work"? (Although I guess Tezuka, Nagano, and Shirow aren't bad company to keep.)
  5. "You guys are weird." - Gubaba
  6. Then I'm confused. Is moe clumsy cute characters, or is it loli porn? And if it's the latter, why was everyone saying that Ranka was moe...?
  7. Again, I'm not sure why people are saying this is "new." Hasn't anyone seen Project A-Ko? C-Ko can't cook, she's a total ditz, and everybody in the cast loves her. If that's not moe, what is?
  8. I took the test years and years ago...at that time, I was an ENFP, but that may have changed.
  9. Ishiguro was the director of the series (and co-director of DYRL). And I'll have to see what Mikimoto does with the beginning of the series before I can guess what he should or shouldn't do with the end...I will say that I do like the final episodes of SDFM. I just hope the series doesn't turn out like Macross 7 Trash...by about Volume Five, I was buying each book merely out of duty, thinking, "Will you freakin' END THE SERIES already?" I might feel that way about "Ecole du Ciel" as well, if I hadn't lost track of the story a couple of years ago.
  10. Gundam was 43 episodes, and Gundam the Origin has been running for more than seven years, with at least two more to go. Of course, Yasuhiko spent two and a half years detailing the backstory, which I doubt Mikimoto is going to do. Hell, he may not even adapt the last nine episodes, depending on how he feels about them (does anyone know? I know that kawamori thought they were unnecessary, but Ishiguro declares them his favorites, but I've never heard Mikimoto's thoughts on them). I think we're looking at a good five or six years. At least.
  11. Finding out the truth is a tough situation, isn't it? The problem with "behind-the-scenes" stuff is that often it's just rumors and hearsay, or else sometimes the people involved actually lie. Any time I hear "Tomino/Anno/whoever was trying to sabotage the series," I never believe it...it sounds too much like fanboy speculation when they don't like whatever the end product is. Pressure from Bandai or Sunrise sounds possible...wanting to lighten up the franchise might be the most plausible of all, simply because it sounds so ludicrous. But then I think of things like the (possibly apocryphal) story of Tomino at a convention getting pestered by fans about a new Gundam show where he stabbed a Gundam kit through the head with a pencil, said "THERE'S your new Gundam show," and stormed off. So maybe there IS some truth to the sabotage story... Who knows? And who shall say he knows?
  12. Could you please elaborate...?
  13. Yeah, ZZ was a truly puzzling decision. "We'll do a direct continuation of Zeta, but it'll be a COMEDY! People will love it!" A lot of people here get annoyed at Macross 7 for not being more serious, but at least it's kind of its own separate entity. It's not like all the wacky hijinx happened on board the Megaroad-01. As for the Clover toys, did you see the Gundam Ace photo-comic a few years back where some Zeon troops were attacked by the Clover Gundam toy? It was pretty funny. "AAAAHHHG! It's that WHITE DEMON!" "Wait...it looks a little different..." "But it's definitely the Gundam. See? It says 'Gundam' right on its chest!" "IT JUST SHOT ITS FISTS AT US! Who knew it had such abilities?"
  14. None of the drama albums are possible contenders (unless I'm REALLY missing something), and I don't *think* the information is in the "Macross Glossary" that comes with "Macross 7 Docking Festival." And although I haven't seen Macross English Anticpation Manga, I kind of doubt that as well, since it's supposedly about Fire Bomber's reaction to Fire Bomber American.
  15. You've seen "A Clockwork Orange," haven't you...? Do what they did to Alex.
  16. Hmmm...I'd heard that he said he was disappointed with that episode...which seems more plausible to me. And I'm sure that the Bandai big-wigs are ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that they know more about how to put a show together than Tomino does. And I'm just as sure that they're dead wrong.
  17. I noticed that, too...this could be the "real version" that people who care about that kind of canonicity have been clamoring for.
  18. Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see what girls who can't cook or think, but are exceedingly adorable have to do with sex. "Moe" doesn't necessarily mean "Loli porn." Can we PLEASE stay on topic without this devolving into a "Tsk! Tsk! Japan is so f***ed up" conversation...? Or is that too much to ask?
  19. You've watched "Urotsukidoji," right? I found that to be entirely unappealing. OH HELLS YEAH!
  20. Oh, I think A LOT of us care. Personally, I haven't bought the Frontier DVDs yet, but I will if I ever see them used in an Akihabara "Liberty" shop or something. I do, however, buy two copies of every issue of Chronicle, and while I'm kinda sorta working on a scanlation of it, I definitely won't share it until the magazine is all sold out everywhere. I'll do the same for Macross Ace. And I'm sorry you got "taken," but I think it should be clear that Malaysian versions are bootlegs, just like Hong Kong versions. Rule of thumb: If it doesn't have a U.S. release, but a south Asian release has English subtitles, it's a bootleg.
  21. I haven't seen all of Xabungle, L-Gaim, or Brain-Powerd, and I haven't seen ANY of Turn-A (which is high on my list) or King Gainer (which isn't), but in general, I agree with your assessment...he's either much too light, or incredibly bleak. And yeah, V Gundam especially seems to be him taking out his frustrations on the cast. Damn good show, but still... And if you've hit the human bomb section of Zambot, it should be clear sailing through to the end. But I think the reasons you feel on the fence about it are the very same reasons I love it...I adore how it seems so kiddy for 85% of each episode, only to have random people start blowing up, or politicians attached to balloons getting shot at. And as it gets close to the end, they start taking out members of the main cast...
  22. If you need a quick fix, a fansub group called THORA is subbing the Blu-Ray versions, and they look spectacular. They're easy to find on Tokyotosho or nyaatorrents, or if you want direct-download, I think the getfansub wiki is putting them up. (I have to wonder, though...why would the set start at episode 7, when it's episodes 16~25 that haven't been released on DVD yet...?)
  23. "Heh heh. Moe is their leader." - Homer Simpson. But really, as others have said, I don't understand why everyone's getting furious about moe girls all of a sudden. C-Ko was the original moe girl, and she was infinitely more annoying than any of her descendants.
  24. Actually, I think he's only spitting poison at YOU. The others who post in this thread seem to be spared any ire. I have to say, though, that this thread makes me a little sad, in much the same way that the Dragonball Movie thread amkes me sad...most people are urinating all over the concept, while a few true believers are clinging to the vain hope that the end product might possibly be good. Kinda sad, right?
  25. Considering that only half the series is officially out on DVD, you might want to wait at least four or five months. Any current bootleg DVD set will of necessity have episodes taken off of the original broadcast, rather than somewhat revised versions on the DVDs.
