    I dunno...I like depressing. (Which is why Eva is one of my all-time favorite animes. And why Stephen R. Donaldson is the only one out of the many fantasy writers I liked in high school who I still read now.)

    Well, I was put through a bit of the ol' runaround at Kinokuniya yesterday evening, but finally I reserved two copies of the magazine. (First, they didn't know what I was talking about it. Then they found it on the computer, but said they couldn't order it, because their distributor had no copies. When I pointed out that that was because the magazine hadn't been released yet, they laboriously filled out an order form for it. And then, as they were putting it into the file, they discovered that five other people had ordered it as well, and that they'd gone through all that trouble for something already on file. Luckily, I used to work in a bookstore, so I've got patience and sympathy, but still...)

    Thanks. I'm just sorry that it's taking so damn long. I edited the part about front armor plate, and I'll edit the part about the gunpod being able to used by either arm as soon as I can get confirmation on what it actually means. And i don't want to delay the VF-25S page any longer, so I'll finish it first, but after that (i.e. before I finish the Zentradi page), I deifnitely want to tackle the Megaroad-01 page. Looks like there's some good stuff there.

    Why do I get the feeling that jthjlyeah's post is spam...? After listening to May'n Street a few times, I pretty much agree with Drifand. For me, the May'n-Only version of Lion doesn't have as much power as the duet version. That said, I hope Megumi puts a version of it on her album, whenever the Victor bigwigs decide that she needs to put one out.

    Yeah, I agree that the TV series of Zeta is much better than the movies...the movies make a nice supplement though. I'd also agree that Zeta is better than the original Gundam. The infallible equation of Tomino stories (and ONLY Tomino stories) is "MORE ANGST = BETTER THAN."

    And to think I didn't even know what a Boundary Layer Control System even was before I started this...(I sent a rather panicked message to Azrael, giving him the kanji and saying that I had gotten "Boundary Layer Control" out of it...did he happen to know what the real name for this was? He sent back the wikipedia entry on BLCS). As frustrating and slow-going as this page has been, it's also had some nice educational value.

    Well...yeah, but bear in mind that this poll started well before the series ended, and thus all of the ranking was done before that episode aired. By the time the series ended, we had more or less moved on to other things, like making up "clues" that showed which girl Alto liked more.

    I don't know about that...I remember L-Gaim seemed to throw in gratuitous boob shots every few episodes, and all the old Gundam series had their moments as well (my favorite when I was a kid being Four getting out of the bath). Hmmm...maybe it's just a personal quirk on my first. The first two Gundam movies seemed rather shapeless to me: they build to a climax about an hour and a half into the movies, they reach that climax, I thought it was over, the movie started building to another climax, it reached that climax, I though it was over, then it started building to another climax...and so on. Garma's death seems like it should've been the end for the first movie, and introducing Ranba Ral ten minutes from the movie's end seemed like bad plotting to me. And in the second movie, the filmmakers are trying to cram so much in that the credits start rolling well before the movie's even over! I will say, though, that if you look at it as one gigantic seven-and-a-half-hour movie, it fares much better. Zeta didn't give me that same "Isn't it over YET?" feeling, but again, it may simply be because the movies were shorter.

    As Keith pointed out, "Lucifer" refers back to "Messiah" (and certainly sounds better than calling it the VF-27 Satan). It's a little clumsy, though, I'll grant you that Regarding Mr. March's mentioned of Simonne, Johanne, and Pietros...well, that didn't bother me at all, because A) it's shown to be a quirk of Luca's ("Samson" and "Judah" are also Biblical names...it's just something he does), and B) his own name is Biblical, so hs Ghosts are like his brothers, in a way. Although I wonder why they went with "Simonne and Pietros," when "Matthias and Marcus" seems like a more logical fit with Luca and Johanne, no? The Langley, the Sohryu, and (I believe) the Katsuragi were also WWII-era ships.

    I wish I knew. I think it may be the little black line extending forward from where the wing is attached to the body (that's certainly where the arrow on the caption seems to be pointing), but I'm by no means sure.

    I haven't seen the Turn A movies yet... As for the Zeta movies...I dunno. The transitions seemed awkward at first, but about halfway through the first movie, it ceased to bother me. On the contrary, I started trying to anticipate when the next "new" scene would come in, and what they were going to change about it. Strangely, Sara's voice changing between movies II and III get on my nerves MUCH more, but I think that's because I really liked her voice in the second movie.

    Clearly, the movies are a further evolution of the show, moving it away from the demands of the toy company and making it a little more "real," but the show has a lot of good stuff that was left out of the movies, like the Odessa Operation. Also, as I've said before, I think the first two movies are terrible AS MOVIES, since they still feel like a bunch of episodes strung together. The third one is the only one that actually builds to a real climax (naturally, of course, but I think they could have tightened up the first two a little more). The Zeta movies didn't suffer from the same problem, but maybe only because they weren't each two and a half hours long. The Gundam movies also failed to emphasize salt, the importance of which was covered AT LENGTH in the TV series.

    That's...a definite possibility. At any case, I think we've only got a sheet or two more for SDFM chronology. I wonder how much time they'll spend on the 28 years before Plus? I'm guessing two sheets max, unfortunately.

    There was some lineart, but I don't think there was anything new...dramatic battroid poses, fore and aft shots, cockpit details, that kind of thing. Apparently, it also has two head lasers, but no one seems to be able to figure out where.

    Yeah. Kamjin's attack = end of SDFM, no? As for "battle" vs. "attack," yeah you're right. Blame it on my doing the transcription quickly, and at six AM. I knew you'd be thrilled.

    I wouldn't say it bothers me, really, although sometimes it gets to be a little much (A seemingly normal young American woman named, of all things, MARVEL FROZEN??? What the hell were they thinking?). But names in fiction are important, and if the characters have silly-sounding names, then...well, that's not good. But then, on the other hand, you get names like the pretty normal-sounding "Susumu Kodai" getting changed to the rather wacky "Derek Wildstar," so there's a lot of blame to go around. I'm not sure what you're referring to with the religious names, though. A lot of mecha seem to get mythological names, but I can't think of many characters that do...at least, not off the top of my head.

    I agree. If they redid it now, Focker wouldn't smoke, and Kakizaki would be eating a nice healthy salad instead of steak. And the Zentradi would ALWAYS shoot first. If it's an update people want, well...there's always "Macross the First" to look forward to.

    I'm listening to "May'n Street" for the third time now...I like it A LOT better than I like May'n's early singles, mostly because it sounds more Sheryl-ish. My dreams of building a fictional "Sheryl Album" are still dashed however...since she still seems intent on putting her name into her songs. "May'n Space" can't be a Sheryl song any more than "Fallin' In or Not" could, alas. "Glorious Heart" would've been GREAT in Frontier, though...
