What'd I tell ya way back? Dylan, Hendrix, Nat King Cole, Billie Holiday...all that's missing is Elvis Costello and Iggy Pop. Unfortunately, I already have almost everything on that soundtrack, so I'll probably give the soundtrack a pass, same as the movie. And I love this part of the article: So...what, they aren't even going to MENTION Alan Moore? Weird.

RANKA LEE...once known as the "Super Dimension Cinderella." In 2060, she seemed to have it all...three hit singles in a row, a glamorous boyfriend, fold quartz in her intestines...where did it all go wrong? Clearly it had something to do with the night when she fired her manager, Grace O'Connor. We're unclear of the details, but apparently, Ranka's boyfriend, former child star Alto Saotome, had some sort of diagreement with Miss O'Connor. Threats were made, insults were hurled, and finally...Miss O'Connor lay dead, shot to death by Saotome... After this, things went from bad to worse for the tarnished little queen...

Man, after reading the first paragraph here, I was thinking, "March is off his game...either Ranka or Sheryl needs to find to God to really hit all the clichés." And then I read the second paragraph, and, well...you surpass me, sir. Kudos to you.

If you know an eccentric billionaire who would be willing to donate 10~20 million to Big West to create a sequel, that's probably your only chance.

Did you try to download it anally...? If so...well, that's the problem. Try a different orifice next time, and you might get better results. -

If you like Mylene's singing voice, you should check out Chie Kajiura's albums; her first one ("Loophole") is especially good...mildly psychedelic and '60s flavored in that '90s sort of way.

Yeah...the versions on Radio Fire!!, Ultra Fire!!!, and Fukuyama Fire!!! don't have the harmonica, and are better for it. But, y'know, although I didn't like Planet Dance the first time I heard it, it's been about fourteen years since I first watched Macross 7...and I like the song now. Reminds me of the mid '90s, which were some pretty good times.

My kanji dictionary only lists "rigidity" as a meaning (the word is question is 剛性. The first kanji in the word means "hard," "tough," ""stiff," rigid," etc., and the second is the "-ity," a kanji used to change adjectives into nouns), and it's not in my kana dictionary, so that's all I had to go with. But yes, I think what they're saying is that they wanted the Megaroad-01 to have a loose 'n' free "city" feel, rather than a stiff "city under martial law" feel.

Mechanic Sheet Flashback 2012: U.N. Spacy Sheet 01A: SDF-2 Megaroad Page 1 It became the flagship of the first wave of the Humanity Seeding Project - THE FIRST MEGAROAD CLASS SHIP Data Owner: U.N. Spacy Length: 1,770m Height: Still Unconfirmed Width: Still Unconfirmed Weight: 30,300,000t Engine: Still Unconfirmed Thrust: Still Unconfirmed Max Speed: Still Unconfirmed Standard Armament: Still Unconfirmed Development Line SDF-1 -> SDF-2 Principal Pilot Misa Hayase [Picture Caption - Megaroad lifting off] Leaving Macross City, the Megaroad-01 set out on a tremendous journey towards the center of the galaxy. [Picture Caption - Misa barking orders] The Captain's duties are performed by Major Misa Hayase (later Misa Ichijo), who was the main controller aboard the SDF-1 before her promotion. Spacecraft Introduction The Megaroad Class Super Long Range Emigration Fleet Megaroad-01 was called the ark for humanity's journey into space. Undertaking the Humanity Seeding Project, it was the first Emigration Fleet to sail out into the galaxy. This mother ship of the large scale space emigration needed to be able to travel vast distances as well as be a livable environment, so the know-how gained from the SDF-1 was kept alive in its design. The housing capacity was for 25,000 people, a sharp decrease from the SDF-1. But, as the ship was making an incredibly long journey, the need for goods and resources was great, and great strides forward were made in housing. On the other hand, it has only minimum armaments, and since the strength of the hull is also low, it is not suitable for battle. But the ship's primary mission was to protect the seeds of humanity. Page 2 Spacecraft Introduction* The Megaroad-01 was initially the Earth-Produced Space Battleship SDF-2, and construction began in November 2003. The project was halted during Space War I, but after the final battle the Humanity Seeding Project was implemented, and building of the craft, now reconceived as an Emigration Ship, resumed in June of 2010. At the same time, the plans to make the ship the nucleus of an entire Emigration Fleet was also begun. Afterwards, in September 2012, the Super Long Range Emigration Fleet Number One left earth with the Megaroad-01 as its flagship. It set off heading towards the center of the galaxy, but after it arrived in the vicinity of the galactic center in July of 2016, all communications from the ship ceased. Feeling nervous about any ill-will directed towards the Seeding Project, the New U.N. Government avoided making the incident public, saying that the Megaroad-01 was still continuing on its way. [Picture Caption - VF-4] The successor to the VF-1, the VF-4 Lightning, was constructed side-by-side with the Megaroad-01, and was assigned to the ship as fighter accompaniment. [Picture Caption - The Megaroad leaving earth] The Super Long Range Emigration Fleet Number One comprised the Megaroad-01, and several Zentradi battlecruisers, U.N. Spacy battleships, and others. *GUBABA'S NOTE: I think this is a misprint. It should probably read "Documentation of Use" rather than "Spacecraft Introduction." But I'm leaving it as-is, just in case I'm wrong. [Gubaba here: still not done, but I'm nearly there.]

Well...it could be that it cuts transformation time to two-thirds of the usual time...it's a little unclear...

A better grade of writers...? Sukehiro Tomita wrote it, and he's been one of the main writers for nearly every Macross project, including SDFM and DYRL. Now, I wish he'd done a better job in Macross II, but I'm glad he was there.

The Japanese text has the term for wrestling, but it's written in a slangy, shortened way...so I went with "wrassling" in the translation. And I appreciate the help everyone's giving me on the demon sentence...but it's really the sentence structure that's giving me problems, not the vocabulary.

Oh, okay. I think it's there because there's a kit, though...not the other way round. Yeah...I said that it was created by Hasegawa. My impression is that they wanted to get some more Mac Zero product out, and they had the two-seater nose for the 0D, but hadn't finished the body yet. PRESTO! VF-0B is created! They recently also created the VF-0C as well.

True. Most of the mecha has more personality than she does.

SDFM! SDFM! SDFM!!!! J-Just let her go, dammit! And if you've hurt her, I'll, I'll...do, uh, something.

True. And the related problem that most of those new MS designs would blow away anything from Zeta or Double Zeta without breaking a sweat. But that can be chalked up to a different art style and ignored. Since the crew at the beginning of 08th MS Team were watching Gihren's "Why did Garma die?" speech, I'm assuming that story takes place around episode 12 or 13 of the original series, which is way too early for the Federation to have any mobile suits beyond the ones on White Base. And that's a plot gaffe that's hard to overlook. (Although, quite honestly, I probably would overlook it if I actually liked the 08th MS Team. Macross Zero likewise brought in a host of continuity issues, but I enjoyed it, so I'm willing to harmonize them if I can, and ignore them if I can't.)- 3772 replies

Well, after more than a month and a half, the VF-25S page is complete! http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...100#entry695196 I don't mind continuing with VF-25S through the B, C, D, E, and however many more pages they decide to bestow on us, but if someone else wants to tackle the 25F, 25G, or the RVF as they come out, I'll be grateful. Anyway, next up is the Megaroad-01, followed by the long-awaited completion of the Zentradi page, and a little surprise.

That's the VF-0B (basically a two-seater 0A), and since it was created by Hasegawa, I'm not sure how canonical it is...

TWO ISSUES A YEAR? Man, that sucks. Let's hope it's just for the first couple of issues, to give Mikimoto enough breathing room to finish Ecole du Ciel. And the first issue of Gundam Ace, IIRC, had two "Sections" of Gundam the Origin, C.D.A., Gundam-san, a one-shot comic about Zeon teeny-boppers (who turned out to the the nine Rick Dom pilots that Amuro killed in a matter of minutes), a short story about a Ball pilot, interviews with various people, an article about how the Gundam novels differed from the series, DVD and toy news, and lots and lots of "Introduction to Gundam"-type stuff. It was also only about 200 pages or so...a far cry from the Manhattan phone book it is today. It never, ever turns out to be that simple.

If you had seen the show, you would realize how off-base you are. VFTF1, I love you like a brother, but you're dead wrong about Ishtar. If you don't want to buy the DVD, Then download it, watch it, and fall in love with Ishtar. Even people who hate Macross II like her. (Personally, though, I think she looks better before she gets her hair cut in episode 2.)

I agree with everything you said (especially that last point...everyone here compares DYRL in-universe to the Pearl Harbor movie...now imagine if Pearl Harbor had had Korean War-era uniforms and aircraft, and said that the base on Pearl Harbor had been attacked by the Japanese AND, say, the Italians. WWII buffs would be having seizures). I'm not really sure why everyone is saying that DYRL doesn't stand on its own...it's not really MEANT to...it's a supplement to the TV version, not a replacement. In effect, Studio Nue is saying, "You liked that? Okay, here's more, and it looks AWESOME!" To fit the story into a movie, they had to eliminate all but the most important plot points, and they managed to bring those out rather cleverly by creating the idea of the Protoculture pop song. If someone put a gun to my head and said I had to choose one, I'd pick SDFM because it's fuller. But since no one is doing that, I refuse to pick one. I love them both, and they compliment each other in a wonderful way, each becoming stronger because of the existence of the other.

...But as Jamming Birds' Sounds Tech, you STILL have to listen to "Ridin' in Your Valkyrie" waaaay too many times!
