  1. I don't see the "MSG"... And I don't know about any of the other releases, but on both Shinsen and THORA's versions, all of that is subbed.
  2. EASY SOLUTION: Listen to Fire Bomber while eating the pineapple cake. You'll be fine, and all your friends will stand around marveling at how emotional it would've been if you'd died.
  3. Why would anyone boo at that...? It's a gorgeous joke!
  4. If Guld were turned into a cyborg...well, then yeah, he'd probably run rings around Brera. Hmmm...Macross Chronicle makes it quite clear that the VF-25 is vastly superior to anything that came before it, and I'm guessing that the VF-27 is in a similar or better league; so yes, it's guesswork on my part...but... I haven't played Ace Frontier...how reliable is it as a source of info? (I'm not being sarcastic, I'm genuinely curious.)
  5. No, I don't think Brera was all that good, either (if he were really all that, he would've fried Alto more than once), but his cyborg-ness (cyborg-ity?) coupled with his fighter's capabilities...well, Guld and the YF-21 are just outclassed.
  6. It's a nice idea, but it'll never happen...Hollywood would have to give its audience some credit for knowing (and caring about) American history...and that's something they'll never, ever do; especially now, when really, all they want is for their movies to be successful in China, since that's where the REAL money is. That said, I'd LOVE to see a massive, multi-part Worldwar film saga.
  7. I doubt it...Guld barely beat the Ghost, and since the VF-25 would have the YF-21 backed against the wall pretty quick, I'm betting the 27 could do the same or better. Brera would overall be the better wingman, I think...he was a jerk, he had issues, he's got crappy hair, but at least you know he won't have psychotic breakdowns while flying next to you.
  8. Again, if Lucas wants to take the magic away, he should be allowed to. Again, nobody is forcing you to like it. And yeah...the Dune prequels and sequels DID muck up the existing works, blatantly contradicting the Dune Encyclopedia, which was done with Frank Herbert's participation, and which thus strikes me as being more authoritative. The only thing I find really remarkable about the Kevin J. Anderson/Brian Herbert books is how Brian Herbert found notes for ONE novel, and (ka-CHING!) managed to spin it out into what...eleven? Twelve? All of which were done at great speed. Frank Herbert took more than twenty years to write six Dune books...Kevin J. Anderson did twice as many in half the time...The original Dune series was a triumph of world-building and artistry. The Anderson ones are triumphs of marketing and sales. And I'll shut up now, since this has only a tangental relationship to this thread's primary theme of Hollywood's auto-cannibalism.
  9. I agree. This is why I think statements like "I want to see a non-Lucas Star Wars," or "Let's see Macross without Kawamori" are completely wrong-headed. Star Wars is Lucas's creation, and he should have control over it. If he wants to cock it up (and clearly, he does), well...it's his to cock-up. Nobody is forcing him to make more interesting movies, and nobody is forcing you to enjoy the Prequels. Just write 'em off and move on to the next thing. And don't even get me STARTED on stuff like the Brian Herbert and "New York Times Bestselling Author Kevin J. Anderson™" Dune atrocities...when an author dies, his worlds die with him, and anyone who tells you different just doesn't get it.
  10. てめ、なんてベタなボケ!!
  11. I was under the impression that that song was "Yousei"...
  12. History Sheet Super Dimension Fortress Macross: 03A: SDF-1 Macross Launching Ceremony Page One [Main Picture Caption] The airspace above South Ataria Island on the day of the Macross Launching Ceremony. Out on the coean, the aircraft carrier Prometheus and the Assault Landing Vessel Daedalus can be seen. The fan racer in the foreground is the civilian aircraft which intruded into the VF-1 demonstration flight. [Gubaba here. Clearly, this is not finished. Think of it as a place-holder for an upcoming page...I just couldn't let the February 7th date o to waste. )
  13. I'm busy today...I was going to leave it alone, but the Babelfish translation was SO unhelpful, that I thought I'd throw my half-assed ass-hat into the ring...but I didn't really want to haul out my huge dictionary...the first bit was the only one I couldn't read, so I kind of guessed. Which is why I wrote "I think" in there. If you don't like it, I could just go away and leave you to your own devices, Mr. "WAAAH...don't-put-Japanese-in-here-because-I-can't-read-it."
  14. Yeah, I was too lazy to look up the words I didn't know, so call it an educated guess on my part. More complicated, huh? Does this mean that Ranka will actually give Sheryl a real run for her money...?
  15. ...which once again proves that Babelfish is next to useless. The parts the kresphy highlighted say that the love triangle will (I think) be resolved, that the Valkyries will be shown in more fights in the atmosphere, and that both Ranka and Sheryl will have new songs.
  16. Nah, with my luck he'd just get his spiritia sucked out, and I'd have to carry HIM back to base, as well as Luca. And all the time, he'd be screaming, "WOMAN! It's a WOMAN!!" which would get old really quick.
  17. 08th MS Team happens DURING the first Gundam series (and earlier on than it should). Turn A...well, my feeling about Turn A is that whatever Gundam universe you like most, Turn A's a sequel to it. Trying to go any deeper than that just causes pain, heartbreak, and seriously weird maxi-timelines.
  18. Huh? The what with the what now...? What pic are you referring to? EDIT: OK, I'm officially an idiot...you're talking about my avatar, arencha? No flies on me... Anyway, it's a detail from the cover of MF DVD Vol. 6. I don't have the full pic right now...and I don't really post it. The rest of the cover is strictly for Luca fans, and I don't like Luca, because he keeps trying to hustle my chick. EDIT AGAIN: Okay, here you go...but I had to make a (rather inept) edit before posting:
  19. Hmm...I may be thinking of the TIAS... But the Macross Chronicle (VF-1J Sheet 02B) definitely calls it a VF-1D in the Extra Report, so I hope that settles it.
  20. Isn't that also how it's shown in Perfect Memory...?
  21. Good point. My ideal fleet would be me, Kakizaki, Physica, Gilliam, and Luca. All of them would get killed except Luca, but Luca would be damaged so badly that he'd need someone to rescue him and carry him back to the ship. And that someone would have to be me.
  22. I'm going to be officially inaugurating boinger's and my Macross fansub project...the first release goes up at anirena (I hope) in a few hours.
  23. If you're looking for animation consistency and authoritativeness in that episode, I have two words for you: KNIFE FIGHT. None of the art in that episode is anything you can take as "proof" of anything. Even when they get something right, it's just the animators getting lucky.
  24. Tommy february6 (HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOMMY!!!), even though she seems to be busy with Gundam 00 music these days. And Shiina Ringo would be...interesting...
