    Maybe not, but it seems unfair to single out Macross 7. Non-corporeal entities are a common SF trope, as are higher dimensional beings.

    The books are absolutely NOTHING like the movie....especially if you start from the beginning of the series. I found the second book to be particularly rough going; if long-winded, badly-written prose really isn't your thing, I'd suggest starting from the third book. The big reveal in the sixth book will seem to come out of nowhere, but the last four books were written before the first two anyway, so all the original readers were in the same boat you would be in. Still...I can't quite bring myself to really recommend any of them. They're classics of science-fiction to be sure, but they're at least as ridiculous as old Flash Gordon serials, and have a similar cumulative effect. If that's your thing, then by all means, knock yourself out.

    That seeder would be me. My connection is rather slow for uploading, so sorry. But edwin3060 is helping out, so it shouldn't be long before it's all out, nice and seeded. And then we get to go through it all again every two weeks for the next five years or so...

But still, I doubt they're going to use a 28-year-old design in a brand-new show. EDIT: I'm not saying they won't use the Unit 7, but I'm sure they'll redesign it, just like they did with the Units4 and 5 (for a comic) and Unit 6 (for a game).

    Those are the old Kunio Okawara designs, aren't they? I don't have my '98 MS Encyclopedia handy, but but I recall his designs for the RX-78 Units 4 through 7 or 8, and the top right-hand picture is the spittin' image.

    For some reason, the torrent was trackerless, and thus didn't really work for a lot of people. I don't know how that happened, but I fixed it. However, I also don't know how THAT happened, either. But it is indeed fixed now.

    Hmmm. Good point. I still imagine that this book (like the Chronicle pages) will be more of a consolidation of previously documented stuff...might have some nice pics, though.

    Either. Both. Japanese doesn't have a "v" sound, so they substitute "b" (which is, for example, why the "Full Vernier" Gundam from Gundam 0083 is the 01FB, rather than 01FV). Personally, I like Gubaba, because it sounds more like a name a child would make up, and Mylene was, what...three? Four? when she got the little critter.

    No, I'm sure he didn't...but I've only ever seen one set of novelizations (I only ever had Volume 2. I really need to find a complete set of all three...). Ohnogi DID write "Misa Hayase: White Reminiscences," which I'm currently (and very slowly) translating, but I believe that's only about Misa's youth. He probably also wrote parts of "Dreaming Prelude: My Fair Minmay," but I still don't have that one, so I don't know. But that's a series of stories set on the day of the Miss Macross Contest, so the "Shao Pai Long" director taking Minmay's hand couldn't be there... I dunno. I'm mystified. And since I'm trying to do a COMPLETE Macross translation, I'd like to know what kind of wild goose I'm chasing...

    The thing I find strange about it is that the SDFM TV novelizations weren't by Ohnogi, but by Toshiki Inoue, and the DYRL novelization is by Sukehiro Tomita...so which novels are the liner notes talking about?

Also, I said this in the iMacross thread, but it bears repeating. All I did was go through the script. Boinger was the one who ripped the DVD and added the subtitles (and added them, and added them...). The lion's share of the thanks should go to him.

    Don't thank me. Boinger did all the hard stuff. (Seriously, you don't know how difficult is was to sync everything up properly. A lesser man would've given up.) All I did was go through the AnimEigo and ADV scripts and picked the best from each. Anybody could've done it. If no one wants to help seed, then yes, that's true. But I kind of hope Macrossworlders are better than that.
