  1. That's also where I came up with my idea for retitling the show "Nanase F." I don't think my "Itchy and Scratchy and Poochy"-inspired idea carries the same light irony in Japanese that (I hope) it did in English. Although I did enjoy the the fact that they had to give me an explanatory note, since all I said originally was "I'm as predictable as always." So they put in a line that says "His profile picture shows Nanase." And here I thought VFTF1 was the MW member most in need of footnotes...
  2. No, it's http://tool.nifty.com/globalgate/ Sketchley directed me there, and for most of the time, it's great....especially if you have the general gist of what is being said, but there's some convoluted grammar.
  3. And according to machine translation, you originally said: Damn! It's like we have our very own Engrish generator!
  4. Man...f*ckin' Rolf Harris...even when he's not singing "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport," he's singing "Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport." Anyway, I see your Rolf Harris and raise you one Tommy Seebach.
  5. True. I've been able to keep up with Gundam Ace, but I really would prefer six issues a year instead of twelve, since most of the stuff that they added to beef up the page count is stuff I don't care much about. Sometimes getting it seems more like a duty than a pleasure, and I don't want Macross Ace to be the same. That said, with Gundam Ace and Macross Chronicle coming out, I haven't really been able to justify getting any of the Frontier books. I'll probably wait a while and pick 'em up used.
  6. End of June. I thought at first that this meant it was to be released two or possibly three times every year...but, upon reflection, I realized that it probably will be quarterly, and they just released the first issue early to capitalize on the Launch Festival. Of course, if it ends up being anything like Gundam Ace, it'll be quarterly for the first year, bimonthly for the second, and monthly from then on. Personally, I hope it gets to bimonthly, but no more than that. If it comes out any faster, I won't be able to keep up!
  7. It was this: Which is a translation of this:
  8. I hope you're joking. Or I may just have to go ahead with a scanlation of "Roy Hunter and his Robotechnology Boots," AKA "Macross 7 Trash."
  9. Look at my posts on the last page, one of them quotes you in Japanese, and then machine-translates you back into English. Probably the only way we'll ever get the line "He is a wonderful girl!" out of you. Anyway, most of the comments are from here: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?&showtopic=26933 althogh some are from here: http://macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=27507 I don't know where your post is from, though...maybe from Frontier Girls Part 2...? EDIT: Hey, I just noticed...there's MORE! http://www.seichi-nippon.com/anime/macrossf_poll_1 And a couple of others, but those are drawn from RandomCuriosity, Animesuki, ANN, and other places.
  10. Well, for starters, you'd probably be getting angry messages from Japanese Grace fanboys for saying that she's "fake"...
  11. Well, to quote VFTF1: (Or, as Nifty Translations would have it, "It is RANKA so that naturally! She is my わいこ in Love Lee most in this Galaxy. It is a super-space-time super idol, and he is a wonderful girl!")
  12. Too bad they didn't translate MisaForgotten saying "Klan eats Nanase for breakfast!", only to have d3v ask "What kind of 'eating' are we talking about here?" THAT would've been priceless.
  13. Check this out: http://seichi-nippon.com/anime/macrossf_poll_2 It's the last Macrossworld poll on our favorite Frontier girls, and someone actually went to the trouble of translating our comments into Japanese. Is anybody else a little weirded out by this?
  14. If THAT bugs you, you should try www.macross7.com and www.macrossfrontier.com...
  15. As I said, most of us don't take it at face value My thing is that their blanket statement, "We own ALL the rights to Robotech" is very different from saying "We own ALL the international rights to Macross, Southern Cross, and Mospeada."
  16. Not to sound like a sixth grade English teacher, but spelling and grammar should be EMBRACED, not shunned! Anyway, it's hard to know who has what at this point, since no one's really talking. We know that Big West owns the designs for SDF Macross, and Tatsunoko owns the actual film. What HG owns or doesn't own is an unanswered question, unless you take their claim that they own everything, and that the Big West/Tatsunoko lawsuit didn't affect them, at face value. Which most of us don't.
  17. Interesting comparison... I have to say, I'm not a big fan of Hayato Aoki's art for Macross F (the characters look too comical, the VFs just look wrong), but the guy is either a really big Macross fan, or else he's seriously done his research. He throws in TONS of references, homages, and allusions, some of them quite obscure.
  18. Okay...well I just ordered 'em all last night. So, in a few weeks, I should be receiving the following novelizations: Macross Vols. I~III Dreaming Prelude: My Fair Minmay Misa Hayase: White Reminiscences (TheLoneWolf has sent me scans of this, but hey...the novel was only a buck. I couldn't resist.) DYRL. That sould be enough to keep me occupied for QUITE a while. I'm hoping that the fact that the TV series novelizations have furigana, and that My Fair Minmay is in script format, will mean that they'll be relatively easy. I'm a few pages into White Reminiscences, and it's slow, hard going. I like it, though. A lot.
  19. Ewwww...okay, you win...(Although, if that had been released in 1984 instead of whenever it actually came out, it would be pretty good, cutting-edge special effects). I haven't heard Charlotte Gainsbourg's album, but I'll definitely look for it now. Thanks! Serge is one of my favorite songwriters (although I like his songs for France Gall and Brigitte Bardot better than most of his other work), but I really think his most brilliant moment was saying, during a talk show with Whitney Houston, that he wanted to f*ck her. Classic.
  20. Every fifteen-year-old boy in the world would heavily disagree with you. (And anyway, I claim first rights, since I brought that video into this thread MONTHS ago.) C'mon, man, watch this one, and then tell me Sabrina is worse:
  21. You speak as though you've seen it. Have you?
  22. I thought it was done better than the Macross/Independence Day vid, since in that one they had people clearly in different scenes talking to each other (i.e. Global at the Launching Festival is talking, and Hikaru at the soda machine answers). Even though they threw in some bits from Zero, I thought it worked. And I really liked Steve Buscemi as Michael...
  23. Yes. And you also support killing stupid little girls with ice cream.
  24. That's the section with the battroid torso on destroid legs and Frankenstein Britai, right? Man, I really need to dig that stuff out...
  25. Worst video ever. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjdA4SUkXHE
