  1. I know. BELIEVE me, I know...
  2. Of course. Unfortunately, I just now thought of what I should have said before... It's just linguistic convenience, like "record store" or "dialing" a phone number, or Misa"Forever." Wish I'd though of it a few minutes earlier... Anyway, I just took a walk to the ATM and road-tested the new Megumi single on my iPod. I've decided it's good.
  3. <_< It's just linguistic convenience, like saying "record store" or "dialing" a phone number.
  4. I guess I didn't read carefully enough...I thought the voting was for which song she should cover for the upcoming drama album... But no, I don't think anyone mentioned the single here. The A-side is a quite nice, up-tempo ballad. Overall, I think I like it a little more than her first single, but I'm still not sure yet (I've only listened to it twice so far).
  5. I just picked up the new Megumi Nakajima single, and, lo and behold, there's cover of Angel's Paints on it! Nice stuff. Although I have to say, the fact that she released it as a single B-Side makes it almost a sure bet that it won't be in the movie...
  6. Yes. You said that he was profiting by having his company do the reconstruction. I said he wasn't. You asked if the comic showed his company doing the reconstruction, because if it did, that would prove your hypothesis. I said it didn't. It showed him debuting a new cologne, and that's it. Now, if I understand your post correctly, you're saying that, proof be damned, he benefitted financially. Why are you so attached to that reading of the ending?
  7. ...and on the old Arii kit, and on the Hasegawa. There of course wasn't any Arii kit for Kakizaki, but the hasegawa says "012." I went back and checked.
  8. Lucky! I didn't get into it until 1986, by friends who had a bunch of Nth generation tapes of Zeta Gundam. I got into Zeta (and Double Zeta, kind of), but I always wanted to find out more about the original series. I didn't end up finally seeing it until 1999...
  9. As long as you don't think it was Ai-kun that came from the dinosaur planet... And, if Ray was from the Pink Pecker Squadron, maybe Ozma was from the Blue Balls Squadron. THANK YOU! THANK YOU, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! I'll be at the Laugh Factory's open mike night every Tuesday!
  10. It's good, of course, but you probably have most of the music from it already. I do think that getting My Chemical Romance to whittle "Desolation Row" down from nine verses to three and a half, and covering it as though it had been a Sex Pistols song (and throwing in a bit of Hendrix for good measure) was not a good idea. But who knows, it might grow on me.
  11. You're thinking of Ray Lovelock's Squadron...
  12. So fold it all into the "Super Dimension Fortress Macross" entry, and make sure all the Robotech entries link to it. That's the way I'd do it, at least.
  13. *sigh* I inititally planned three Mega Gundam Torrents to be uploaded in April, May, and June (to go along with the Mega Macross Torrent for February and the 35th Anniversary Yamato torrent for October), but the Macross Translation Project has kind of nixed that idea. I'm not really very excited about a new UC series (unless it's an animated version of GaiaGear, and they'll never do that), but I do hope that someone finally finishes a scanlation of Crossbone Gundam sometime this year... Anyway, I think the 30th Anniversary will most likely pass me by, but I'll try to sit down and watch everything again for the 35th (since I'll most likely be sick of Macross at that point... )
  14. Well...that version of "Runner" (from FB2012) isn't a duet between Hikaru and Minmay...I think "Blowin' in te Wind" is the only time that happened. And there are LOTS of Basara/Mylene duets! Foremost among them being the "Let's Fire!!" version of Planet Dance and the "Second Fire!!" version of Holy Lonely Light. Anyway, he's Section Three of Part II. Claudia seems to have gone rather shockingly out-of-character here, at least to me. NEXT: The Grand Finale! Will the Macross survive? Will Minmay finish her radio show? Will it be followed by a newscast? Will the poor little kid ever be reunited with his family, or are they (*gulp*) DEAD!? And what about that orange shirt you used to wear...? Don't miss the final exciting chapter of Miss DJ, coming your way this weekend!!
  15. Didn't the thread comparing Macross and Battlestar Galactica get locked...?
  16. I thought Kakizaki and Max's planes were 012 and 013...
  17. That's a can of worms on which the lid is best kept tightly sealed.
  18. I agree completely, and I'd go further...if Wikipedia has a bias at all, it's towards geekdom. Every minute detail of the Star Wars Expanded Universe is commented upon, and the section on, say, the works of Thomas Mann is woefully inadequate by comparison. An article on the Megaroad-01 is useful and necessary for a Macross Wiki, less so for Wikipedia.
  19. He already underwent penance... As he says (and this time, I had to pull out the comic to check), "I know people think me callous, but I've made myself feel every death. By day, I imagine endless faces. By night... Well, I dream about swimming towards a hideous... No, never mind. It isn't significant." (Of course, he's wrong about that last bit...it's EXTRAORDINARILY significant...) The extent of his financial gain at the end of the comic is that he has released a new brand of cologne. I seriously doubt even he would kill three million people just so his new scent would be a hit.
  20. I have two copies of (most of) the issues...one torn apart, one not. I've noticed that some of the black from the binder dividers has rubbed off on the SNN Valkyrie page...
  21. Yeah, I had it for a long time without understanding any of it, either. Consequently, I never really listened to it until I pulled it out of mothballs last year....and lo! I discovered I could understand a good percentage of it. Of course, the bits that I couldn't understand have been a real pain... Anyway, here's the next part: I have to say, I find Arihiro Hase and Mari Iijima's duet of "Blowin' the the Wind" rather touching in hindsight. And um...I think there's a little continuity hiccup here, in that...well, souldn't Hikaru be Skull Suqadron Leader at this point, rather than Vermillion Leader...? Anyway, NEXT: ZENTRADI ATTACK!! And the ORIGINAL "Triangler" is all present for it! PLUS: Minmay asks EXACTLY the wrong question! Claudia speaks! Global hyperbolizes! AND KIM GETS MENTIONED BUT NEVER ACTUALLY SAYS A WORD!!! AND THE PROMISED FREAKY FOUR-WAY WITH THE MINMAY DOLL AND DIAPERS!!!! YOU WON'T WANT TO MISS IT!!!!!
  22. Libraries are free and convenient! "Give a hoot! Read a book."
  23. I agree completely (and I usually adore unorthodox endings as well...Eva, the Sopranos, Gravity's Rainbow, Finnegans Wake...the list goes on and on). Creating a satisfying ending is more than just "connect the dots" as Westlo intimates. Now in SDFM, creating an ending was perhaps made easier by the fact that the series had already ended once, so it's not like all the juggling balls were in the air and had to be caught in the last 22 minutes....but still Kawamori did a solid job of bringing the series home and making it memorable.
  24. Why are you so afraid of motionless pictures and text? Just buy the comic!
  25. Good idea! They Might Be Giants, supported by Galaxie 500, at the Wiltern, early '90.
