Dragon Ball movie rescued from dev hell?
Gubaba replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
True. I never made it past the fifteen-minute mark. I did know someone who saw in three times in the theater however. Even more bizarre, his last name ISN'T "Travolta." -

...except Troll 2. And Turkish Star Wars. And "Manos": The Hands of Fate. -
Mobile Suit Gundam 30th Anniversary
Gubaba replied to Apollo Leader's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
No, I mean Sheryl and Ranka. They would go well with my Char Type VF-19. (It's for Char! Not Basara! CHAR! That's why it's red, right? Right...?) -
Mobile Suit Gundam 30th Anniversary

You're probably right, but we've already had coated versions, clear versions...what else can they do? Special RX-78-2 Sheryl and Ranka decals...? -
Dragon Ball movie rescued from dev hell?

I say wait until the DVD comes out before you download...nothing makes a crappy movie even crappier than watching a bunch of featurettes with enthusiastic staff talking about how awesome a certain the sequence will be, and how the fans will just eat it up. -
If you're looking for a good quality release with English subtitles, your search is doomed to failure. Hell, the entire series isn't even complete on DVD in Japan yet.

I've seen Britai's age listed as 34, for what it's worth. I've never seen an age for Exsedol or Bodolzaa, however. I'd imagine that SDFM Bodolzaa is nowhere near as old as DYRL Bodolzaa, but that's just me.

Psst...that's Robotech...
-
But of course, as we all know from Macross II, the Macross's bridge is detachable...is THAT a separate ship, too...?
-
I love how many stupid people in the comments section think this thing is real. Some people have no sense of irony...
-
"Gekijouban," perhaps...?
-
That's fine by me. "More time" should equal "more interesting movie." And more time hand-wringing over the movie will mean less time hand-wringing over whatever they decide to do for the 30th Anniversary.

Nope. The website still has room for fifty issues, but I don't think that number is set in stone. IIRC, the Gundam one was slated for 100 issues, but ended up being 150. Anyway, if your copies of Chronicle are anything like mine, you'll find that if you flip through them a fair amount, the pages will start to come out on their own. At least, that's what happened with my first issue, since it was a couple of weeks before I got the binder.

As far as we know, it's the latter. Let's face it...the nature of the Supervision Army is one of the least-explored aspects of the Macross Universe. They're mentioned at the beginning, get brought up towards the end of the series, and then get brought up again the Macross 7 in a way that seems like it should explain them, but really doesn't. Me, I'm hoping for a Chronicle World Guide Sheet on them. Until then...it's a mystery.

Sorry, I was speaking figuratively and with alliteration...I wasn't accusing anyone of accusing anyone of plagiarism. I should've been clearer.

Macross Frontier Mecha/Technology Thread IV *Read 1st Post*
Gubaba replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
What does this have to do with Frontier or mecha...? -
I like the Gundam, but if I look at it objectively, I think you're right. I think that a big part of what makes it super-robot-y, though, is the bright primary color scheme. The all-gray G-3 looks tons better, I think. I also really like Okawara's redesign of the RX-78-2 for Gundam the Origin, which isn't as radical a remake/remodel as Katoki's, but hits all the right notes. Interesting that for Gundam the Origin, all the mecha got revamped, but the characters look more or less the same, whereas Macross the First seems to be going the opposite route (I say seems to because no Battroids have shown up yet). Says something about the durability of the VF-1 design, I think...
-
Well, yeah...but there are only so many ways to do a combination mecha without it becoming rather ridiculous. I think it's more a case of practicality than plagiarism.

Q: Where does a giant blue guy who can vaporize people walk around naked? A: Anywhere he wants!
-
So the naked blue guy who can change his size, see neutrinos, and create a glass of water out of nothing is okay, but a dead monster created in a lab isn't...? I dunno, I think the squid was fine, although it looks a little dated now.

Does anyone know which Studio Nue Enertainment Bible has Macross stories in it...Vol. 1, Vol. 2, or both?
-
Some of you know about this, some of you don't, but various Macrossworld Members and I have been secretly getting together and working out new versions of various Macross titles. While I plan to do as much Macross as I can get my hands on, I'm really gritting my teeth and trying to do it all in rough chronological order. Which means SDFM and SDFM only for the next year and a half or so. Yes, I plan to get to the sequels, but it won't be anytime soon, and I'm trying not to even think about them right now, in order to keep focused on the work at hand. Yesterday (March 13), I uploaded our first real release, after a couple of anniversary projects...Episode One of the 2008 remastered SDFM. I did the easy work (hammering out the script, which mostly entailed checking the Animeigo and ADV scripts against the audio and against each other), and boinger the all the hard work (ripping the DVD, timing and adding the subs). OptimusX and Xeros have been helping with advice and information on both the technical side and the artistic side, and edwin3060 and SkullLeaderVF-X have agreed to help out with seeding the torrents. The overall idea is to collate everything that adds to the Macross narrative. While the Compendium and M3 are perfect for mecha stats and pics, and while the story of the anime has been hashed and rehashed many, many times in many, many places, there isn't a whole lot of information on many of the other Macross stories, contained in books, drama albums, and comics. My goal is to bring all of those into English, so that you too can learn about the first time Misa met Minmay, or hear about Hikaru's childhood obsession with flying. Anyway, the website is in my signature, so please check it out. The current schedule is for a new episode every two weeks, with extra releases on special days, like Minmay's birthday or Christmas. I welcome comments and suggestions, and any questions anyone may have. And please...wish us luck. This is gonna take a while. CURRENT PROJECTS: Video - SDFM (with boinger doing all the hard stuff) Audio - Distantly Fading Memories Prose - Dreaming Prelude~My Fair Minmay Comics: Macross Ace, Issue 001 (with jasonc and VFTF1 doing all the hard stuff, VF-25 Messiah graciously agreeing to check my scripts, and David Hingtgen helping out with terminology and protocol questions.)

You could very well be right, but after the Frontier Episode 25 discussion, I really hoped I would never read the words "Kawamori" and "troll" in the same sentence ever again.

GUESS WHAT I GOT IN THE MAIL TODAY, BITCHES!!! Novels. Macross novels. Six of 'em. I'm still unsure about whether or not to translate the TV novelization trilogy, but "Dreaming Prelude: My Fair Minmay" looks like it shouldn't be impossible. "Misa Hayase: White Reminiscences," of course, I've already started on. The DYRL novelization is long and dense, but flipping through it, a few things caught my eye that made me want to read more...namely, the Macross executing a Daedalus Attack (in DYRL???) and Hikaru and Misa wandering around on the ruined planet that they still don't know is earth, only to see the destroyed, rusting hulk of...the ARMD-05. Weird.

Getting a representative M7 CD collection is really damn expensive...I have most of them, but I picked them up over a span of several years (most of them as they came out, some of them much later). I never bought any of the "CD Cinema" albums, though, so I ended up downloading them. They make Galaxy Network Chart Vol. 2 make a lot more sense... Yeah, I plan to get to that, but not anytime soon. Once I finish everything for SDFM, then I'll move on to MII, M+, and M7. I'm trying not to think about that right now, though. Getting everything done for SDFM is overwhelming enough.
