  1. "All this wait"...? What did you expect, that they'd pop out a movie in three weeks? Anyway, I don't know anything about the Stupid Frontier movie, but the Macross Frontier movie is scheduled for September, maybe.
  2. Sandman. God, I hope that movie never gets out of development hell.
  3. "Musume ['Girl'] Service Medley"...? Is that a porno or something? If you mean the Nyan-Nyan Service Medley, versions of it are on both the OST2 and the Vocal Collection, both of which should be easy enough to find.
  4. Well said, good sir. Well said.
  5. Well, that's great and all, but has anyone noticed that Macross II sucks? And I think they should incorporate it into the Kawamori timelime. That would totally rock, and I don't think anyone's mentioned it before.
  6. Yeah...I think you're both right. TSC looked better than ny ninety minute fanfilm could (unless, y'know, they took footage from Gunbuster and slapped it together with FB2012 and Love, Live, Alive or something... ). But no, it doesn't look as good as ANY Macross production, except for the original SDFM series, the last episodes of MacII, and maybe Mac7. Nor was its story as good as any Macross series (yes, even the ones you hate, whoever "you" may be). As such, it couldn't live up to the hype, or to what Robotech fans wanted it to be. Hell, even Cpatain JLS came out and said it wasn't very good.
  7. Like watching it at half-speed, maybe... Really, we probably could go faster on the series, but I don't want to. First, because I like to have SOME semblance of an actual life, and second, because it allows me time to work on the OTHER Macross translations. From my perspective (and I know no one will agree with me), the fansubs are the icing...the previously untranslated books, comics, drama albums, and other things like that are the cake.
  8. As far as I know, the only AnimEigo files available on-line are DivX avi files...in other words, they're hardsubbed, so there are no .ass files floating around for them. Episode 5 is going up tomorrow. But really, I can't recommend my version to anyone looking for a quick fix...we won't be done until summer of 2010, after all...
  9. That's looking less and less likely to be true. As we've said in the Ohnogi thread, any proof (or even hint) of his involvement with the show has so far led nowhere.
  10. Okay...now, it makes more sense. Reminds me that I need to ask one of my Japanese friends if it sounds odd to them...
  11. Oh, I can beat you on the excitement...I remember in summer of '86, one of my school chums saying that he was dreading September (because school would start again) but he was also looking REALLY forward to it, because Sentinels would start airing. Sentinels never made it. School, on the other hand...
  12. The city-in-space has been something of a Macross staple since Macross 7 (and arguably since Flashback 2012). but the other ones...hmm...it never reminded me much of Megazone, but I can see a connection... Anyway, it's a good series. It's not the Macross sequel that a lot of people were hoping for, for various reasons, but most MW'ers liked it to some degree or other, ranging from mild interest to deep love to annoyance mixed with enthusiasm. A few people here hated it, but not as many as hated, say, 7 or Zero. Regardless, I hope you watch the whole thing, and I hope you like it!
  13. As I said before, it's been a VERY long time since I saw it (when did it come out? '88? '89? Somewhere around there...), and I never owned a copy; one of my friends brought it over one day. So I don't remember if it seemed like it was a lot of little bits, or if it was cohesive. I did go into it knowing that it was cobbled together, so I may have cut it some slack at the time. It just didn't make much of an impression, and what impression it did make wasn't very good. I'd moved on to Macross and Gundam, Megazone, Bubblegum Crisis, and a whole host of other things by that point. Robotech seemed corny and dated to me.
  14. Yer MOM'S a mecha cougar!!! (Sorry, couldn't resist. ) Actually, I thought they looked fine up until they fell to pieces. Somehow, seeing them break into tiny little shards didn't make them seem terribly powerful or imposing...
  15. I'll get it started... Completely Transformable Maneuver Blade (Psyche Version) To commemorate the new TV Anime, Viper's Creed, a hard story unfolding in a ruined postwar world with the profound drama of characters overflowing with human feeling, the completely trasnformable Maneuver Blade driven by the hero, Psyche Glide, will soon become available! *Phew* Even with a machine translation helping me out, that wasn't easy. But maybe you can figure out the rest yourself...try http://honyaku.nifty.com/ Just copy and paste the text in the first box, click the second option circle (日本語-->英語) and then click the button below it.
  16. Well, then he goes on to mention the "MF Novelization." At this point, I'm wary of any information that comes from Animesuki that says, "In the novels, it's like this..." since it looks like the last time that happend, the info wasn't accurate.
  17. How sure are you of that info? Who read the novels?
  18. I haven't seen THAT in a really long time, either...by the time it came out, I already had a lot of access to REAL anime (unsubbed, alas...but living a ten-minute drive away from Little Tokyo video stores has always had its advantages), so I never took it terribly seriously. Pretty much all I remember about it is that Breetai looked awful, Lisa's ahir was really stupid, and there were those robot cougars that shattered like glass into teeny-tiny pieces when they fell into a ravine. We laughed out loud when we saw that. I suppose I should look it up on youtube just to refresh my memory, but...I don't really wanna.
  19. Sounds fair enough to me.
  20. I wasn't being sarcastic...I really have no idea what you're talking about. I haven't watched much Robotech since '85 or '86 (every once in a while, I would let my Robotech Perfect Collection videos go on past the Japanese-subbed episodes, but I could never watch for long). So I don't remember who Jonathan Wolff is or why it matters whether he was on the SDF-1 or in New Albuquerque, nor do I understand why THAT was the breaking point for you to turn against Robotech. For me, the argument against Robotech (and HG) can be summed up in three simple points: 1. What they did to Macross. 2. What they did to Macross merchandise. 3. Shadow Chronicles.
  21. I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.
  22. I'm really sorry everyone... But really, I have my hands full with other SDFM stuff right now. I know I said I would do all the VF-25S-related pages, but I just spent a half-hour on it today, and I didn't even finish the first paragraph. I won't be able to get to this for a long time to come. I've mapped out what I have to do and how long I think it will take, but considering that my Macross Translation Project is still in its early stages, I'm trying to get as much as possible done while I know I have the time to devote to it, since I really don't know what my life will be like two or three years down the road. (I might do a detailed breakdown of my schedule in the Galaxy Network thread, but I don't want to give *too* much of the game away...not even boinger knows about everything I'm working on...but the basic run-down is like this: if I keep going at the rate I'm going, the subs for the entire Macross oeuvre will take two-and-a-half years; the drama albums will take a little over three years, and the novels will take more than four. That's also assuming that my Japanese stays at the same level it currently is...if it improves, I could be done sooner.) I do want to find time to finish the three as-yet uncompleted pages I've started, but unless something of dire importance comes up in Chronicle pages, I'll have to put off full translations for a while. Again, sorry. But if someone else wants to tackle the VF-25S page, I'd love to read it.
  23. An obvious troll was obvious and got banned. Whoop-de-doo. Personally, what I find strange about it is that they apparently banned Akt_m very, very quickly, but RobotechFanPlus got to hang around for a number of days after saying that the "Jap f***ers killed Roy Fokker." But it seems to me that he went in WANTING to get banned...look at what he said on his youtube page: I think he was a Macross fan trying to do his best Doug Bendo impersonation. That's not to say he wasn't annoying as all git-out, though, 'cuz he was.
  24. Nah...both the Megaroad-01 page and the most recent Timeline sheet confrim that the Megaroad-01 ceased transmissions near the center of the galaxy in 2016, but UN Spacy hushed it up.
  25. Hmmm...I remember during alumni weekend at my old college (while I was attending) some old guys saw my friend Leslie and shouted, "LANA TURNER! It's LANA TURNER!" ...almost scared the wits out of the poor girl...
