  1. I'm Gubaba and I approve of this message. That said, I like the Narnia books a lot. Much more than Ayn Rand (my least favorite author) and Heinlein (although I really liked "The Past through Tomorrow").
  2. Especially when they're directed by Rick Hunter himself! (God, that Rick voice really IS his normal speaking voice, isn't it...?)
  3. Now THAT'S crazy talk...unless you're talking solely about the first quarter or so of "Prince Caspian."
  4. Have you checked iMacross IV? It's just two threads below this thread.
  5. "Editor" can be a highly respected job: WORLD'S GREATEST EDITOR. Magazines and newspapers wouldn't exist if it weren't for editors, yes, editing other people's work. Film editing can make all the difference between a good movie than a bad movie. Of course, none of this has anything to do with Robotech, which was more (being charitable here) "revised" rather than edited...
  6. Not sure what good it would do. Clearly, anyone who believes the "I have a bad memory" or "it was all internet rumors" excuses cannot be swayed by logic. Besides, I'm sick of this. Unless someone comes over here proclaiming that, I dunno, Kawamori fired Yoko Kanno from the second movie because she was making Sheryl's songs sound too good, I don't think we need to worry about MG anymore. EDIT: I mean, I tried. I asked about the Studio Nue Entertainment Bibles (since, of course, Shaloom insisted there were fifteen volumes, not the two that actually exist. One of the new admins said, "I see what the problem is; he meant BANDAI Entertainment Bibles. There are tons of those!" So I asked which one had the Ohnogi stories, and he said, essentially, "I couldn't tell you, and I don't really care. Shaloom said it was all a mistake, and he apologized. The matter's finished." How do you reason with someone like that?
  7. I think a lot of it is avoiding repetition. Most of the missing SDFM cuts are things like the instrumental version of the opening (which the electric guitar taking the place of the vocals) and Zero-G Love. Both of those showed up on the "Macross Love" drama album, but there are people talking over them. As for songs, we don't have Minmay's "Wedding Version" of Runner, or the unknown song she was singing to Kaifun/Britai in "Phantasm." But (and this is only a guess on my part, so take it for what it's worth) Mari may have been singing those during the dialogue recording sessions, so there may be no "professional" version of them. Anyway, the missing M7 songs are almost all Mylene versions of Basara songs, so, like the SDFM BGM, it may just be an issue of repetition. Does that sound plausible...?
  8. The video game thread is only for Macross games, isn't it? As for renaming a game...who cares? Let's say they changed the name of, I dunno, "Mario Cart" to, hmmm, "My Boyfriend Taught Me Bionic Sex!" Is that really a big deal? As long as the gameplay is untouched, does the title really matter?
  9. Is that...a pastry? Ewww...eating the progenitor of all life on earth doesn't sound delicious.
  10. That's still a hell of a lot, though... *backs away slowly*
  11. Back to the movie... I think the biggest question that I'm left with is...
  12. I'll bite my tongue just this once as well.
  13. Spoken like a true Macross fan!
  14. Comic book series??? There's a comic book series?
  15. And had it been invented sooner, that chick from "Goldfinger" would still be alive today...
  16. I'm tempted to agree with you...however... Yeah, I'd agree that Fellowhsip of the Ring was better, in that I found the book boring at twelve, and I surprised myself by finding it boring AGAIN twenty years later. And I've read TONS of books that are considered "difficult" or "unreadable" and enjoyed them...I don't know what my problem with that particular book is. Other than that, I'd venture that "The Wizard of Oz" is better than the book (or at least more iconic), and "Wild at Heart" was certainly more interesting than the novel on which it was based. EDIT: And just to piss everyobdy off, I'll say "Starship Troopers" as well.
  17. To be fair, the look of the original is INCREDIBLY dated at this point...but I think the utter '60s-ness of the whole thing is one of the reasons why it works so well. But of course the real reason the show works so well is Patrick McGoohan. The entire show was his highly idiosyncratic vision, and the role of Number Six was carefully tailored to fit his strengths as an actor. Without his hand at the helm, any version of the series is doomed to be "not as good as the original." And that's probably the BEST case scenario.
  18. That's...not far off, actually.
  19. Yes, I've heard it before. But if you had seen the show, you would know that Ron Grainer's pening theme (which manages to be ominous AND twangy at the same time!) cannot be topped.
  20. Um, it said she did the grunting noises when Eva-01 went berserk in episode 19 of the show...it didn't say anything about the movies.
  21. You've never seen the show, have you?
  22. Gosh, you're right. My ideas suck. Time to nip off and shoot myself, I guess. Or...wait... Something's coming to me... How 'bout this: ALIENS VS. PREDATOR VS. YELLOW DANCER
  23. Buckaroo Banzai Against the World Crime League
  24. It would be even more awesome if the Veritechs could talk!!!
