New Yamato Anime to Open in Japanese Theaters in 2009
Gubaba replied to UN Spacy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I dunno...I'm still torn about this project. I like the fact that the Yamto story was finished, and I think it should stay finished (there aren't enough decent endings in the annals of modern film...). On the other hand, this looks like it could be good. -
Or better yet, forget about movies, forget about animation, and just let Robotech fade into oblivion.
-
You've clearly never really sat down and listened to "Bringing It All Back Home," "Highway 61 Revisited," "Blonde on Blonde," or "Blood on the Tracks" but I won't hold it against you. And it's neither here nor there, really. Doubtless I'd think the music you love is crap, too.
-
You're associating Reba West with the greatest American songwriter of the twentieth century??? Now, I think Reba West is nice person, but I wouldn't put here in the rarefied "living legend" category that Dylan is in.
-
I have to agree with that. I like the cast of Macross 7 (yes, Basara included). I like the overall story, and I don't even mind the quantifying of musical passion...but if it had been about ten episodes shorter, if the animation had been a little bit better, and if the Protodeviln had been more threatening, it would have been an outstanding show. As it is, I like it, but I don't adore it.

STOP TALKING LIKE YOUR SPECULATION IS FACT! PLEASE!

You're making WAY more out of this than is actually there. There are four Macross F novels. Vol. 1 is 318 pages. Vol. 2 is 341. Vol. 3 is 391. Vol. 4 is 294. That's 1,344 pages total. Of which less than one is devoted to Kim's Macross 13. Hell, this thread is already about four times as long as the section about it. Not only that, but the novels tell a different version of the story than the series, so they may not even be canonical. Let it go, man...let it go.

Alto chases after her...? Did we watch the same series? 'Cause it seems to me that he had AMPLE opportunity to hook up with her, and simply failed to exert the effort to.
-
What, no option for Kaifun? I don't hate any of the characters listed...
-
I have nothing against Reba West. (Want proof? Check here: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=9275 ) I have EVERYTHING against taking Macross Zero (or II, or Plus, or 7, or Frontier, or DYRL) and trying to connect it to Robotech.

YOU, Sir, are f*ckin' AWESOME!!! PM me your email address, and I'l send you a little surprise (a good one, that is)!

Enh. It's still classier than this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfwj2IVc4OI I have NO IDEA why someone would make such a video...
-
Y'know, I think someone with Photoshop skill should turn those pictures into a Sheryl version of this "classic" album cover...
-
Mmm...I don't really think so (although I'll agree that Rick Hunter is a MUCH more radical departure as far as character design goes), but I guess it's an honestly contestable point. And even WATCHING Shadow Chronicles, I didn't realize it was Louie for quite a while. Maybe I'm just dim, but I'd like to think not. Or maybe it was because I was watching it on Youtube, so the "OVA quality animation" was not really discernible.
-
Okay, I give...except on one point. These two people are NOT recognizably the same. Same hair color, yes. And they both have funky goggles (but DIFFERENT funky goggles). Other than that, they don't resemble each other.
-
And there would be no character named Rick Hunter in Shadow Chronicles if Macross hadn't existed...but that doesn't mean HG can use the original Macross designs. And it's possible that they can't use Southern Cross, either.
-
Shadow Chronicles' Louie Nichols looks about as much like Southern Cross's Louis Ducasse as Rick Hunter looks like Hikaru Ichijo. There's nothing recognizably Southern Cross in Shadow Chronicles...at least, nothing that I can recall. And Robotech Protoculture is one of those (few) things that is uniquely Robotech.

Gundam Show Thread - MSG thru GQuuuuuuX
Gubaba replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Seconded. It'll flow better, though, if you watch the original Gundam series (or, in a pinch, the three movies) first.- 3717 replies

First off...Protoculture comes from Southern Cross??? Have you NEVER seen any Macross shows? As for Space Station Liberty and Louie Nchols...didn't we already go through this with Rick Hunter?
-
You're right. I do know that Big West at some time owned some part of Southern Cross, since I got most of the model kits as a kid, and they all had that silvery "Big West" sticker on them. Which *may* be an impediment to Harmony Gold using anything from Southern Cross...or it may not. As always, though, once the topic of Southern Cross comes up, the usual response from most people is apathy and indifference...in other words, I'm not going to start digging around to find who owns what, either. I don't *think* Studio Nue had anything to do with Southern Cross. At least, the show is not listed in the Studio Nue Entertainment Bibles as one of their works, and that has a complete listing of their projects from 1972 to 1990.
-
Yes, it's true. Which is why there's no Southern Cross stuff in Shadow Chronicles.
-
Dude, it's a novel. There are no pictures. Well...there are a few. But not of Kim.

Let me put it this way...two days ago, I thought I had a pretty good handle on what was what in the rulings. One day ago, I figured that actually, I really DIDN'T understand it at all. And today I realized that, no, wait, I understood it the first time 'round. Thank you, ANN, and your contradictory reports...

That kinda sounds like my idea from a while back: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=583461 I'm, like, totally suing you.
