I think there were a few people talking about it, but I don't remember who they were...and I'm not sure they made it through the long spring/summer months...
-
Ah, a bittersweet ending, I see. Since a galaxy without panties would be kinda hot, actually.

Yeah, I never really understood why no one ever asks the natural (to me, at least) follow-up question to "We own all the rights to Robotech," i.e. "Does that mean you own all the rights to Macross?" Although I'm sure Mr. McKeever would just say something like, "I can't make it any plainer: we own ALL the rights to Robotech" or something like that. And regarding the thread, I'm mildly surprised Memo hasn't banned Bowspearer yet.

I'm picking up my copy tomorrow at Kinokuniya (along with the Super Dimension Anthem and Macross Chronicle), but yeah...I downloaded it this afternoon. I've listened to it three times so far, and I like it a lot, too. Suprising that some of the songs are definitely more rock than a lot of the original Fire Bomber songs, while others are far poppier. I'm with you on your favorites (Daimon especially shows they can really nail a twisty rocker), and I really like all the Mylene songs and duets (let's face it...there's no shortage of Fukuyama material. Having Chie so involved, on the other hand, feels like the appearance of a rare comet or something). And Basara never went back to Macross 7...? Well, THANK GOD the love triangle has been resolved! So all the Frontier shippers need to do is wait fifteen years, and maybe they'll get a resolution as well...

Towards the end of "Plastics," when she starts singing, over and over, "My baby don't care!"

It came out yesterday.

Yes, VF5SS is full of Robotech hate, but he's entertaining about it, so that's okay. You should hear his review of Shadow Chronicles. He is a prophet and a speaker of truth.

Indeed. While I was perusing the site yesterday, I found someone saying that whether or not Shadow Rising gets produced depends on how much Robotech merchandise everyone buys. A few dozen more fans like that, and HG would never have to worry about backlash again.

I'm listening to it right now, and...did Mylene just quote "Ticket to Ride"...?

I said ART. Not athletics. Art.

I'm surprised no one has accused ME of being there. I did join RTX, and sent Pizza a polite little note, and he wrote back what I'm sure he thought was a blistering attack, and accused me of being "a young arrogant person" who is on a power trip. Y'know, it's funny...when people who don't know you try to insult you, they usually end up describing themselves. And since I know he's reading this...hi, Pizza! How was your day?
-
Enh, it'll probably be a "B" page. The "A" page was in issue 25.

You say that it's a BAD thing...

Well...while I share your sentiments to a degree, Macross Chronicle is, I believe, meant to be a general reference, not a "Secrets of Macross" kind of thing, so naturally new information is going to be sparse (unless it involves Zero or Frontier). I see it as a way to get A LOT of Macross information that is spread in drips and drabs across a few dozen books and magazines into one easily accessible place...and yes, while they are deinfitely trying to appeal to the hardcore fan who has a bunch of back issues of OUT or Animage from the '80s stashed away in his closet, that's not who they're really gearing the magazine to. I think of the ideal audience for Chronicle as being a young guy who saw Frontier, loved it, then borrowed his older brother's LDs of the previous shows, loved those too, and now wants to know more. A lot more.

They'll get to it. They've clearly committed to doing at least Mechanic, Character, and Glossary Sheets for it. I hope they have History Sheets planned for it, as well, but I wonder...
-
So it really IS the same game that Shaloom was pulling over at Macross Generation...except there it was "nobody has ever make a list of all the Macross-related books in existence, and the original creators put a lot of their information in fanzines and doujinshi, so if you can't find any sources for my information, it's because they're super-rare and nobody has seen them except for me and some Japanese guys who forget they ever owned them." Convenient.

1985. And yes, they made a deal then. They renewed (or renegotiated, or something) the deal in '98 or '99. They'll probable have to do it again at some point. Oh, and JasonC: I'm sure you've seen this, but apparently, Pizza the Hutt is accusing you of joining RT.com under a different name for the purpose of trolling. The boy doesn't have too good a grasp of history, does he? Y'know, he once promised he would post here and let everyone know it was him. I wonder what happened to that promise...?
-
To be fair, there are Macross extremists, too. Check out JamesBond77 on youtube sometime...he's monumentously obnoxious, and makes all of us look bad.
-
Indeed. According to the Mikimoto interview in Macross Ace issue 1, "Macross the First" is being ENTIRELY done on computer.

...which is why I put it in present progressive tense. It's a beginning, at least. It's still kind of sad that these fans are smarter than the people running the show, but at least someone smart is involved in some capacity. I dunno. It may not end up making much of a difference...Harmony Gold is going to do what Harmony Gold wants to do, and there's no clear alternative to them, but it's nice to see Robotech fans who aren't sheep, and it's nice to see that they're really beginning to ORGANIZE. And I'm sure no pies will be harmed in the process.
