I thought the elephant in the room that everyone was ignoring was the Robotech live-action movie. It's a certainty that THAT will be the greatest sci-fi movie that ever will be made.

Directed by Jean-Luc Godard, made in (I think) 1965. In a lot of ways, it's no great shakes: dystopian society where emotion is forbidden blah blah blah, but it's so icily bizarre that it really works in a way that no other film of its type does.

This is really tough...it'd be one thing if we could divide it into "best dystopian film," "best space opera," stuff like that...I mean, can you really compare, say, Empire Strikes Back to Fahrenheit 451? Metropolis to Repo Man? So, going completely off the cuff, I'm gonna say Alphaville. Very weird, very cool, and thoroughly engrossing.

Bingo. Just my opinion, of course, but TCM:TNG is up there among the worst movies I've ever seen...and I've seen A LOT of bad movies.

Amazingly, it's not THE most inane and uninteresting horror movie starring Renee Zellweger... (Yes, there's one that's worse. )

One thing I love...along with everything else, he talks about Shadow Chronicles selling 100,000 copies and how NO ONE EVER talks about Macross Frontier selling anything CLOSE to 100,000 copies. Nope. Even in Macross the First, the Macross crashed in 1999, and the story is set ten years later. Yeah, I'm not too fond of the 1D head, either. The VF-1S looks just fine, however:

Not really. The original Harlock show is helpful but not necessary. Arcadia contradicts it, anyway.

Therein lies a big, big problem. Because not only are the animation and designs dated, but a lot of the dialogue is, too. You could redesign everything to look ultra-sleek and modern, but if everyone's still talking like it's 1982, what're ya gonna do?

Much as I'm sure we'd all love to bask in the adoration, I think more of it has to do with YOU than it does with US. As an example, look at Captain Christopher Donovan, who arrived and almost immediately began blasting us for our disdain of Robotech, ludicrously comparing it to the Civil Rights Movement, and throwing verbal daggers at Einherjar and Seto. Let's just say the reception he got was...less welcoming than the one you got. And, to be sure, there ARE people here who can be total dicks sometimes...but in general I think we're pretty nice. I mean, look at HappyPenguins. She's not even a Macross fan, and yet she's quite welcome here. Ditto JT (of course, that's because we all know that secretly, Jazznik is trying to raise a private Macross army to storm the Harmony Gold office, right? Right). So yeah, I think even if someone is not the slightest bit interested in Macross, they're get a fair shake here as long as they're reasonable.

Sometimes...Robotech fandom reminds me of a bunch of people who are forced to live in close proximity to each other for years and end up hating each other for it... Check the link in my sig. Although in your neck of the woods, it's probably not her birthday anymore.

That better be Robotech Frontier and Mac+: The Sentinels you're talking about...your credibility as a hardcore Robotech fan is evaporating quickly.
