From the Mospeada book that came out then. And, uh, Uxi and Moly, I can't believe you guys are trying to figure out how to continue Robotech...what's the point? Just an intellectual exercise...?
-
Just a clarification: When I presented your PMs, I reworded nothing. Simple copy and paste. And I never wrote anything vulgar to you. You might have me confused with someone else.

I don't think throwing in Zentradi and Basara is the best way to get away from Macross... But, if it's a sequel, it would still be tied to the original 85, right? A reboot would be the only way to cast off all the original series references completely.

James Luceno is currently in the Star Wars tie-in stable of writers. I'm not sure if writing Star Wars novels is big bucks or not (I'm guessing not), but one can at least count on getting one's books on the New York Times Bestseller list for a short while...as such, he's probably beyond HG's current means. But based on the excellence of his "Return of Rick Hunter from the Black Hole" fanfic, I nominate VFTF1 to be Robotech's official chronicler!
-
And where are you getting that info from?
-
That's not true...Look here: EVANGELION! HONNEAMISE! AQUARION! ASTRO PLAN! ORGUSS/RANMA!!
-
*whew* That's a relief! Good to see you back, too!

Well...realistically, how do they get away from Macross (and Southern Cross and Mospeada) without rebooting EVERYTHING and creating a Robotech-In-Name-Only? For most people who watched Robotech as kids and kinda vaguely recall that it was good, Robotech and Macross are synonymous. You get away from the source material, and you risk turning off not only the die-hard "Robotech-is-genius-so-don't-screw-with-it" fans but also the casual fans, who would watch the movie and think, "huh...this isn't anything like the Robotech *I* remember." There is only one way I could see it working: if (like "Battlestar Galactica") the new version is SO smart and compelling that it blows the old version out of the water. The old fans would still complain, but it could grab tons of new people. It's a big gamble, though, and you really need top-notch people on every level of production in order to pull it off.

Again, I wish they'd take a page from starblazers.com's book in how to present the whole history is an appealing, clear, and educational way...but they've made it repeatedly obvious that they don't WANT educated fans. Kinda sad when the only way they feel they have an advantage over the original version is to spread disinformation about it.

We can continue this over PMs, if you like.

Um...you ARE joking...right?

Or a "son of a hoe"(sic), or a sissy, or a sppiled teenager, or any of the other brilliant things he's said, I'm sure. Nah, that's not it. I just figure this isn't the website for anyone who calls Macross and its sequels "Japcrap." He was a constant problem at the other sites, and he's shown, repeatedly, that he can behave only for short periods of time before acting like a brat and going on witch hunts here. Now he's doing it to the D.o.L. rather than "Macross Purist Nazis," and he's mad at Memo rather than Seto. And anytime someone expresses doubt about him, he says, "Oh, well here's something ELSE Memo said to me..." as though we're all starving to get into the mind of Memo. It doesn't sound to me like he's turned over a new leaf. It sounds more like he just has a new target. And so the idea of welcoming someone who's only contributions to the Robotech fandom have been A) accusing people of being Seto or HappyPenguins, B) saying why Frontier is a "farce" and why Macross sucks, C) asking questions like "Why are the Vajra the good guys at the end of Frontier?" and D) saying Harmony Gold "owes him a lot" and blaming everyone except himself for his own behavior...Well, it doesn't sound like a good idea to me. I'm sure he's a great guy, but his posts show an intolerance to disagreement and and a desire to create drama that's rather worrisome. Have you heard JT's last couple of Randomcasts? He hit the nail on the head, I believe.

Guess I'm out, then.

Albeit banned yet again from a couple of websites...

I agree with you Pete, and I'm definitely pretty sure that the creators of Transformers are surely maybe quaking in their boots at the thought that a movie will be made of your fanfic. And if they make one movie, they'll 100% probably make a dozen! And Robotech will BE the new Americana!
-
That was beautiful, Pete. And so exciting! Please, tell us more about Minmei's cousin John! And *gasp* WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO RICK HUNTER???? WILL HE BE OKAY??? (This is why robotech is superior to Macross. Rick Hunter is very important in Robotch, but Hikajoo Jojo is forgotten in Macross.)

Well, I can't speak for HP or Viper, but your attempts to piss me off were so childish that it just made me chuckle. It was petty and annoying, but hardly anger-inducing. Same goes for Memo's attempts ("LISSENED TO DOUGH'S PODCAST. LOTS OF GOOD INFORMATION THERE. HE'S RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING. HEHEHE"). Water off a duck's back, man. Who knows? Who cares? Anyone who's actually INVOLVED in the film isn't talking. Anyone who's not involved, but says he knows what's going on should be taken with a grain of salt. Anyone who's speculating about what they're is doing just that: speculating. No one knows anything yet. We'll find out eventually, one way or another.

Macross music Mari Iijima emergency notification
Gubaba replied to Mari-ja's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Then get her new album! It's good! To Mari-ja's point, though...I don't like the idea of petition to get her to sing Macross songs. She doesn't really like to do that, and it's a Mari Iijima concert, not a Lynn Minmay concert. Let her sing whatever she wants to sing. It will be a much better show that way. -
You can't be surprised about that. You already got banned twice for going after the administrator of site. So then when you come back, you go after the site's owner instead...? And you know Memo likes to ban people, you've helped him do it. I don't care WHAT forum you're talking about, that's a sure way to get banned almost anywhere. Or maybe it's time to get a different hobby? Just sayin'.

However, making fun of it is always good for a laugh.
-
Nope. We still have the VF-1D, the DYRL VF-1A, the VE-1, and VT-1 to go.
-
Has no one mentioned Tobikage yet?
-
What the hell is "Robotech spirit"? Is that where you buy three other people's spirits, mash 'em together and pretend that they're yours? Oh, and don't worry. No one thinks you're Luke Skywalker.

In other news, Robotech: Genesis has officially been killed by the HG legal team: http://www.robotechx.com/forums/25-robotec...;start=10#10113

Well, I'm sure RT.com is a somewhat saner place now that the Deputy Witch Hunter "got served" by being banned, but yeah...most of the conversations over there really make me want to tear my hair out. RTX seems much more chill, and (most of) the people there seem to be a little more...savvy? Knowledgeable? Something like that.
