  1. Thanks, sir! I've certainly learned my lesson! From now on, it'll be a steady diet of the works of the great masters: Bay, Emmerich, and Boll!
  2. *sigh* I guess that, deep down, I always knew it... My life is a hollow lie...
  3. I do, too...even the chapters like "The Sperm-Whale's Head: A Contrasted View." Does this mean I'm pseudo-profound...?
  4. True dat. And anyone who disagrees with you is just a poser who missed the movie the first time around and is now desperately, pathetically trying to make themselves seem "hip."
  5. Damn. The Philippines must be THE major front in the War of Macross License Hell.
  6. Ewww. Not cool, Pizza. Not cool. No need for racism here.
  7. You just have to approach the Blade Runner fans from an unexpected direction, that's all. "Sean Young sucks. She's ruined EVERY SINGLE MOVIE she's EVER been in." "Edward James Olmos hunting down artificial humans? If Ronald D. Moore's involved, it'd be good. Otherwise, it's the worst idea ever." Stuff like that.
  8. By the way, a little children's ditty one of my friends once taught me: サラダ〜 自由よ 食べ〜放題! レタス、タマネギ! ト〜マ〜ト!
  9. It's from a PC game.
  10. A space whale could also crush it quite handily.
  11. Saw I: Lame. Saw II: Lamer. Saw III: Made me want to throw a brick through the TV screen. Never saw the other ones.
  12. "Hi, I'm Gubaba, and I'm a Bendoholic. For years, I would go months without a Bendo fix; then, one day, without warning, the uninvited thought would pop into my head...'I wonder what Bendo's ranting about these days?' I would go to his site, download his latest podcast, and lesson...uh, I mean LISTEN for anywhere from 20 minutes to half-an-hour before stopping it. "When his rating changed, so you had to log in to see his page, I thought the problem was solved. I had no desire to create an account, so I figured I'd never lesson to him again. Er, I mean LISTEN. LISTEN to him again. "But then, I heard he was talking about Macross World. So I created an account, logged in and snatched the podcast. I...LISTENED...to the whole thing. He was so wrong about everything that I was seriously embarrassed for him. After it was done, I felt ashamed, as I always do after...LISTENING...to his podcasts. I proceeded to delete the ten or eleven podcasts I had amassed off my hard drive, and I logged out of his site. "That was in December. I've been clean and sober for almost three months. What's more, I find my craving has abated, and I no longer feel even the remotest urge to less...LISTEN to his podcast. What's more, I can't remember my talkshoe password, so even if I wanted to check out his podcast, I couldn't. "And now, LIFE IS GREAT!!!"
  13. I was, continuing Taksraven's example, just trying to bait Blade Runner (and Event Horizon) fans. Actually, I think Turkish Delight was a stunningly great film, and Rutger Hauer was the star of that.
  14. I know...I was just flashing back to books I got that would be $10.00 USD, but would always say "$15.00 Can." But that was a while ago. Chalk it up to a brain fart.
  15. Is it really that close now? Oh wait...it used to be that Canadian dollars were, like 2/3 of US dollars... Oops, forget I said anything.
  16. Those are CANADIAN dollars.
  17. Okay...twenty-five years ago today, the wee laddie I used to be sat down with his friend to watch something called "Codename: Robotech." I was rather unimpressed at first, until they showed a Valkyrie, and I suddenly exclaimed, "No way! This is Macross!!" My friend said, "What's that?" Thus beginning a pattern that would recycle itself endlessly throughout various permutations over the next quarter-century. And so, in honor of the occasion, I'm gonna watch DYRL. And maybe follow it up with Mospeada: Love Live Alive.
  18. But...but...you didn't even MENTION Macross II...
  19. Have you looked here yet? http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showforum=4
  20. I'm wondering about that...I got the 1.0 book Evangelion Entry File 1, and found it to be a valuable asset for understanding the movie (I saw it in Tokyo...and followed everything easily enough until the last three or four minutes; thankfully, Kaworu's dialogue was reprinted in the book). I kept waiting for Entry File 2...but it never appeared...
  21. I'm looking forward to it. I got the 2-disc R2 DVD of 1.01 when it came out, and passed on both the R2 1.11 and the US 1.01. And then I'll probably get the R2 2.22...
  22. Nice avatar! I haven't checked Hulu recently...has the moronic flaming by Robotech fans stopped yet?
  23. Rutger Hauer has never been in a single good movie. Neither has Sam Neill.
