Y'know, A7...if I didn't know better, I'd say you almost seem PROUD of your crappy knock-off...

It's a full page in the L.A. Times today...buy a few hundred copies and you could make it your REAL wallpaper!
-
Its never mentioned directly in the show itself, but it's referred to in many of the books about Macross, most recently Macross Chronicle, where it was discussed at length.
-
It's okay. All you guys who live in Japan kinda blur together in everyone's mind, anyway.
-
No, I missed those, too...although I saw most if not all of the issues at a Book Off last year. Which is why I'm not terribly worried about not being able to snap them up . And, uh...it wasn't Renato, it was Tochiro: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...st&p=824219

Except of course, that HG isn't doing the movie...WB is. That could up the ante quite a bit. However, the fact that a fifth- or sixth-tier director is the guy who says, "Yeah, they appraoched me about it," that doesn't look too good. Again, maybe The Losers will up his cache...but I kinda doubt it.
-
Only till May 17...? DAMMIT!
-
I really want to get this series, but Kinokuniya in Los Angeles isn't carrying it (that I know of), and I really can't justify the expense right now. Still...most anime stores hang on to the back issues, don't they? I can make a sweep when I get to Tokyo again...

ARE YOU KIDDING? Stomp the Yard had a love triangle AND music. I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer has mecha*. Who could be MORE perfect? * Anyway, he's just the one guy who talked about the project...they might be approaching other people as well...but yeah: if this is the LEVEL of director they're going for, they're not aiming too high.

LA Times review HERE. Notable quotations: "There's a full metal jacket of pounding sound, blood, fireballs, mayhem, double-crosses and the entire future of the U.S. of A. on the line. But the plot? Who decided to kill the plot? Screenwriters Peter Berg, of the excellent "Friday Night Lights," and James Vanderbilt, of the tightwire thriller "Zodiac," seem to have lost their moorings here, along with director Sylvain White." And: "The opening violent coupling between Aisha and Clay (Morgan) involves a brutal Tarantino-esque ballet of whirling kicks and bruising chops, all delivered with camera moves that would make Linda Blair's head spin faster than the devil. It also brings "The Losers" some measure of redemption. From this point on, there are enough clever bits, in that exploding-bodies kind of way, to inject some fun into the party. White and director of photography Scott Kevan, who collaborated on "Stomp the Yard," have some seriously inventive visuals, which at times are smash-cut fabulous." So...bad news and good news.

Been there, done that.

Yes, it's true here as well. The Yamato movies also didn't look all that hot.
-
Does anyone else think HG's Macek tribute in Variety is...um...kind of questionable? Yes, by all means...celebrate Carl Macek by plugging your movie...
-
I know...it's like staring at an Escher print...
-
I wouldn't be surprised...Sadamoto bases the Evas in his comic on the Bandai kits, Yasuhiko does the same in Gundam the Origin. As Renato pointed out many moons ago, the Macross itself in the comic appears to be based on the Wave toy.
-
To be fair...there are STILL no DVDs of any of the three Yamato TV series, uncut and with subs. At least we have Macross (and Southern Cross and Mospeada) in their original form.

"THE WISDOM REVERES HUNDRED CHANGES, JOYFUL INFINITE" Now THAT, my friends, is a catchy slogan!
-
What is a "particulate mater"?
-
It's "inspired" by DYRL. If you want music "inspired" by SDFM, there's always "Rhapsody in Love."
-
For some reason, the download version floating around is called "Macross Singles Suite," but really, it's just "Macross Suite." It's what they used to call an "image album": music that wasn't actually in the movie, but was meant to evoke it, or something like that.
-
I dunno...that was certainly the last time I ever went to an HG presentation...
-
I disagree. Saying "We can release the movie as a product" is a bizarrely-worded statement, but there is no possible way it can mean "We can release products based on the movie." I'm not saying they do have the rights, since they obviously don't, but I can't see any way of saying Tommy was merely muddying the waters or mixing up the issues...in this case, his words appear to be blatantly false.

Which was my implied point, yes.
