Heh. Speaking of "The #1 Robotech Fan Bitch" (his words, not mine), turns out he's gotten his feelings hurt over my allegations that his numbers are padded out, and has put something up at RDFHQ to show that I shouldn't mess with him. (If you're interested, it's the last post on this thread: http://rdfhqcommunicationscenter.yuku.com/topic/2979/Robotech-fan-podcast ) Now, there's a definite discrepancy here, and it's the same discrepancy you see on the iTunes store if you type in an artist's name (or podcaster's name) or if you look at an album (or podcast). Basically, the album popularity bars tend to be inflated, but searching for the artist's name (or song title, or anything like that) will give you a more accurate reading. So he's using the inflated system, where the popularity bars on 100 plus podcast episodes are maxed out, and the rest show no activity. You'll also noticed that the stats he put up are arranged by date, rather than solely by popularity. Simply put, Bendo doesn't know what he's doing and doesn't know how to interpret the information, so he's just going with whichever pages look the most flattering. Anyone who has actually spent some time with the iTunes store knows he's full of it. Ah well, at least he indirectly admits that he illegally uploaded Macross Frontier songs. Anyway, all of this gives me an idea...He's been trying to get me on his show for a long time now, but it really seems like small potatoes...too small for me. But hey, it's a new year, times change, blah blah blah. So I'll do his show...IF one hundred unique individuals tell me to. More info is available here on Robotech X. Unfortunately, due to rules about Bendo talk on the site, it has to be in the Cannon Fodder forum (which is only accessible by members), but my hope is that all of Bendo's 6000 lessoners will sign up and make their voices heard!

Okay...but they never are used in the way that you're complaining about, so I'm not sure what your point is...

...which is why Basara uses the speaker pods to transmit sound. Later, when they use the sound boosters, it's a ray, not a sound wave. I'm not saying it makes THAT much sense, but it's not quite as scientifically unsound as "sound traveling through a vacuum."

Macross Plus - interpretations of the ending

Dude...there's no need to get weird about it... -

...or not. The sequence happens differently than it does in the series. However, the novelization was written by Keiko Nobumoto, who also wrote the script for the series. So it might be proof, it might not be...but I don't think you can use a book's cover to insinuate something that the book itself denies. -

You might also want to point out that that image is the cover of the NOVELIZATION, in which it is made clear that Guld does NOT rape Myung. -
Star Wars Saga gets 3D Love in 2012

Don't worry about it...sometimes a cigar is just a giant fanged vagina in the middle of the desert that swallows men whole. -

Obviously, you've never suffocated a hooker that was trying to escape from your crawlspace before. (I recommend spraying six cans of Raid in there. You need to go with the "Fast-Kill, Low-Irritant" kind. It's in the blue bottle. It works the best.) -

"Kiri kiri kiri kiri kiri kiri...itai deshou?" I also think mikeszekely's list is a good one...and Sketchley makes a good point about half-understood dialogue. I remember watching the original V-Cinema version of Juon (which was my first Juon experience), no subs, with my girlfriend on a bright, sunny Saturday afternoon. It freaked us out so much that we had to pause the movie halfway through and go hang out in the front yard for about twenty minutes before we could watch the rest. Later, I watched the movie with subs and it wasn't as scary...although that may have also been due to simply seeing it a second time. The only real problem for me with the J-horror is that all the really good movies (like Juon, or the Ring, or Chakushin Ari) get driven into the ground with poor sequels...but that's true of American horror movies, too, I guess.

Favorite VF pilot? (not necessarily the best)
Gubaba replied to Xx-SKULL-ONE-xX's topic in Movies and TV Series
Claudia was the ship pilot. So's Bobby. Claudia had an afro. So does Bobby. -
I know you're trying to give Macross and Robotech some kind of equivalency, but the comparison doesn't hold up. Love triangles and singing are part of what make Macross different from the other mecha shows out there. Alien invasions do not make Robotech different in the slightest. So yeah...Macross without a love traingle and songs...might as well wish for a Terminator movie without any machines or a Star Wars movie with no space ships, light sabers, or alien creatures. But hey...nice try. Your devotion to Robotech is kinda touching.

Considering that I bought an "I <3 Minmay" keychain and "Macross F: Merry Christmas without You" coffee mug, I'm not sure I can cast stones here...

Enhhh...that's going to far, I think. Someone shouldn't have to learn a whole new language just because they want to read a comic. But by the same token, if someone's waiting for someone ELSE to do all the work, and do it fast, well, and free...then that person has no right to complain if it doesn't get done.

No, wait...not Ranka. Nanase. Without a doubt. -

Ranka. Definitely Ranka. -
For the Visual Collections, only months: Ranka is out in February, and Sheryl II comes out in April. The Sheryl comic will be out next week...the 13th, IIRC. I'm not sure if you'd want the novels (little-to-no illustrations, and pages and pages AND PAGES of text), but in case you do: Frontier Diaries is out February 1, The False Diva is March 1, and Wings of Farewell is April 1.

Macross Frontier Movie 2 thread - Now available on Blu-ray/DVD
Gubaba replied to Tochiro's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I don't think so... A mere eight seconds into the movie trailer, it says "Macross F Movie Edition: COMPLETED (i.e. FINISHED) STORY." Also, the movie novelization is in two volumes...The False Diva is the "Upper" volume, The Wings of Goodbye is the "Lower" volume. If they were planning to continue it, Wings of Goodbye would be the "Middle" volume. -
So let's talk about upcoming stuff... 1. A new Sheryl Nome Visual Collection. 2. A Ranka Visual Collection 3. Another Frontier short-story collection. 4. A two-volume novelization of the Frontier movies. 5. Volume 2 of the Sheryl ~Kiss in the Galaxy~ comic.

New Terence Malick movie? Wow...twenty years passed by fast...
-
Wait, wait, wait... you want someone ELSE to scan, translate, and photoshop two entire volumes for you, because it's too troublesome for you to input the words into a machine translator...? Wow...how much of a jerk can you be?

I seriously doubt that. -
Tell me about it...I still get confused sometimes by VF-2SS, VF-22S, and VF-25S if I'm reading quickly.

If you're talking about the "V," yeah...I'm sure it's a typo.
