Toy shops where you are, are not really helping the situation as far as cheaper prices goes... there are always something to be factored in into the price tag... What you can probably benefit from local shops is that you could return the toy if it was crap... but usually, you can't do that because, the retailer will tell you no. We are partly to blame for how these things are charged... we're turning into our folks' age but we don't inherit their will power to hang onto our money longer... or steel ourselves against over-indulgence... for watever reasons... and these toy companies are taking full advantage of it... Fair enough, but the quality of these things must be worth the price with no room for doubts like collectors asking, "Why are Macross figs so expensive?" to themselves and starting threads like these. I seriously don't remember collectible toys back in the day that are so... breakable. Sure they weren't so articulated or embellish with so much details... and they probably cost just as much as today's money if you factor in the inflation... but let's not kid ourselves. Heheh!

Not bad thereafter... wow, how true... truth be told, I was like you but I decided to stop telling myself it's okay to pay for these prices... that it's okay to pay expensive shipping on top of it... I stop telling myself it's okay after I take them out of the box to enjoy them but find that they are somehow not really worth the time, money and effort because their quality is lacking. Here's a secret for you - what you paid, took corporations like Yamato less than 10% in retail price to make for each one. hehehe! And we paid for them as though it's for our children's education.

Nope. Was very disappointed it wasn't a urophilia flick... with the budget they had it could've been. So nope.

But then we can't sample the same taste of Sheryl & Ranka's bread! It's like reading the doujin of the real thing.

The Megazone 23 Garland By Yamato Thread
boota replied to Renato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Looks like Yamato missed the schoolbus again... How to build a better bike. The Garland is probably why Megazone 23 is still remembered today. It should deserve nothing less that what Kaneda's bike got.- 1056 replies

Come to think of it, I believe you're right...

Yeah, the same can be said of Kawamori, only Aramaki has yet to show his hand.
-
Hm, let see... she is the singing voice for Aimo, Aimo ~ Tori no Hito, What 'bout my star, the Nian-nian song & Ninji-n Loves you yeah! Megumi sang the rest.

Macross canned panties worn by Ai Nakajima, Megumi Makagima (Ranka), May'N (Sheryl) and a chase canned panty by Maaya Sakamoto would be a more brilliant idea. I'm carnivorous so canned bread is... meh.

What is the "official language" of Macross
boota replied to justplainZero's topic in Movies and TV Series
They also click and use hand signals just like Nixau. They just do it so fast we can't see them. -
Yeah... that part where some dude remarked that Alto posed prettily even in Battroid mode caused huge sums of shivers for me... maybe lead characters are supposed to be a bit stereotypical for a reason... this kinda like reminded me... when you're convinced that Superman is more pretty that Lois Lane something's wrong already.
-
Well, I kind of like the part where someone in the movie said... "when you were a kid, you used to hold your breath in grave yard... leave that man alone" about Max Payne... I suppose they needed someone who'd look like that naturally. That said, I don't think even Norton would have that look even if he tried.
-
Nice film... just can't see Mark Wahlberg as Max Payne... its not that he hasn't the acting chops... I think he has tons of talents... he's just got too much of that Marky Mark or Dirk Diggler on his face to be a convincing looking Max Payne. Could'a used Eric Mabius... now we'll never know.

The Aim for the Top! Gunbuster Thread v2.0
boota replied to Noriko Takaya's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Excellent sound clip... the music is part of why the original will always be the best. There is no Gunbuster sequel. -
Ella parece un ángel pero olores como el diablo. Hooah!!

Yeah, Zhang's lustful eyes aren't helping any. Kreuk atleast gives Chun Li that innocence that we're more familiar with... very important for nostalgic reasons.
-
"Isn't remotely pretty"... ??? Huh, I don't know about that... I think I'll be very lucky to find a looker like that to squeeze affectionately... and it's not that there's plentya' dogs where I come from... as for her being a bitch... I don't really know her that well to be sure... it's the unfortunate part that some peeps in the industry did talk about the "other" matter that I know firsthand. But she ain't in a position to be hurt by all these little allegations, I'm sure.

Sigh, casting Zhang Ziyi as Chun Li seems like a no-brainer to everyone... as far as a live-action SF movie to be taken seriously by the masses is concerned... but don't anyone get the feeling that she's probably over-used for such roles? I don't know... if the peeps involved thinks Kristin Kreuk can pull it off, she probably could with proper coaching... she's got the looks and besides, Zhang Ziyi could inflate the cost of the movie... word has it that male co-stars would double their fee with Zhang cuz a certain someone has a certain b.o. problem... but don't quote me on that. With the current state of the world economy, ya gotta save whenever you can. As for a proper live-action SF show... it will be interesting to see if they can top this one:-

Pathetic. -
If Go Nagai told us that Taekwon V was the MK1.5 of Mazinger Z, then it's derivative work. If Gainax made a very different looking Taekwon V with subtle connections to Mazinger Z, we can accept that it's a homage. As it is... Taekwon V is a wank job from the 60s, regardless of what their law says. But yeah maybe I shouldn't knock on this too much. I'd go totally ape-poo for Space Gandam V animated to such quality. It's something we'll never see in this lifetime from Kawamori.
-
Despite the obvious inspiration from Walt Disney, Osamu's creations are mostly original. Taekwon V on the otherhand, is a work of a wanker. Nevermind the intention... it's the outright copy of something original with minor modifications and calling it his own. Really, the studio choosing Taekwon V to flex its CG muscles just cheapens it more as a result. Do we see a Mickey mouse look-alike running around with Ozamu's name on it? Or did someone misunderstood something so obvious here? Hell, even the Disney team knows that enough to up with their own designs for the Lion King, a show that was inspired from one of Ozamu's works.
-
Good quality animation, no doubt... but badly lacking in the design dept. Nevermind that Taekwon V isn't even original. Guess they'll continue to animate other people's stuff for cheap till they get there... or excel in making corny love dramas, animating stuff for cheap for other people.

The poll is screwed up as it is. Would appreciate if you can edit asap so we can vote properly this time. -
Seriously I think you gotta try at least a lottery ticket... you never know... you'd have a winning chance for all the bad luck you had.
