Whats Lying on your Workbench MKIII
SchizophrenicMC replied to HWR MKII's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
The bulkiness is exactly what I love about the GM and RX-79 and its predecessor. It's a block, and I love it! That, however, is the only chunky monkey I like. Valkyries are skinny, because they're planes. -
Actually, if you look at a rocket, the space is mostly fuel tanks and ignition chamber. And in a jet engine, the nacelle is much bigger than it needs to be, really, it's only for additive compression from the forward compressor. The F-15's engines take up only the rear two-fifths or so of the nacelles. I have a basic cutaway schematic somewhere, but I lack a scanner, so, I can't put it up right now. Either way, it's not a rocket or a jet, anyway.

2030s Era Valkyries and Beyond...
SchizophrenicMC replied to Cyclone Trooper's topic in Movies and TV Series
Remember there was a speed limit on the VF-0. It couldn't transform at that speed, so Shin had to slow down. Thinking about it, transformation would probably work, especially considering that it is possible to perform Pugachev's Cobra. Add to that precise thrust control, and... Anyway, that's what I didn't like about the VF-1, was its lack of swing bar. However, the VF-1 folds in half, drops its engines to vertical, retracts the nose, deploys the arms, and swings the wings to maximum. The VF-25 is beyond me. -
Airsoft never counts. And Graham, that's why I said "If worst comes to worst." You would not want to use a .22LR, but if you had to, you could. Takes aim, though. You'd need a well-placed shot in a soft part of the skull. If you get really lucky, a single round may down a zombie. Again, my combo goes down to the M1-series (M1, M2, M3, and their carbine variants) and the HK-45, plus a machete. Crowbar would be nice, too, I suppose. Machete excels at clearing brush and the like.

Yeah, but you can get salmonella from a turtle.

Using EZ-Tack is cheating. Besides, I only have 2 gunpods.

A valkyrie paint, should be opaque or should gloss????
SchizophrenicMC replied to akt_m's topic in Model kits
According to akt_m, it's not actual paint, but for a 3D model he's making. Apologies if I misunderstand that, but if that's the case, it's misnamed. Either way, Dave's pretty right. If you want a flat-painted model, go for one of those. If you want model-flat, go for Testor's Flat Gunship Grey or the Tamiya equivalent. -

Well, you don't actually NEED them. Any Delta-Wing config shows this. Instead of using Fly-By-Cable, where such a thing would be needed, they use, Fly-By-Light (Fiber-optic Fly-By-Wire), so the flight computer constantly adjusts the thrust vectoring so it can fly without them. The X-36 flies without a rudder. This is even harder to do, since flat spins can occur, instead of pitch rotations, which can be controlled through ailerons. -
Oh yeah? Well, I bet it can't go John Woo.... IN FIGHTER MODE!

Right, Meant the M1 Garand Carbine. Always mix those two up. Carbine fires .223s, right? Anyway, if worst comes to worst, you can use even a .22 caliber long-rifle for long-range and medium-range standoffs and switch to, my choice falls between a Glock 26 or an HK45 for medium-to-close quarters. ALWAYS AIM FOR THE HEAD. I don't care what you think, aim for the head. It kills people in one shot for a reason: It destroys the brain. Now, it's a proven fact that destroying the brain is the ONLY way to kill a zombie, since its nervous system is the only thing still working, forcing necrotic muscle to move. As this muscle loses its main source of ATP, provided by digestion, it creates lactic acid as a byproduct. This seems to be a further reason they can't run, although it's proven that they lack the cognition to, anyway. This speeds up the process of decay, but not enough. Don't rely on vehicles. A car can and will run out of gas, becoming a useless death trap. Further, they're loud and attract the zombies from miles around. If you're going on the attack, which is only suggested in a few cases, you can commandeer a bus or an armored car and lure them in, mowing them down with gunfire and bumper. Above all, skill is the best tool you have. Your mind and body. This is indisputable. Even as far as the firearms issue. If you don't know how to aim a gun, how can you expect to kill a zombie? Anyway, I live in Texas and have a few rifles and such. I feel rather safe knowing that I can easily reinforce my house to survive level 1 and 2, and possibly even 3 infestations, and that I am rather armed, trained, and ready for this kinda thing. Helps that I'm a Mormon, too. 2 year supply, right?

2030s Era Valkyries and Beyond...

My assumption is this: AI-tracking, based on Radar, IFF, and sensor data from gun sensors allows the units to track trailing units. Even at great speed and maneuvers, it would be able to keep the gun on target rather effectively. Pilot switches between guns like he would missiles. If he needs to fire on a trailing enemy, he switches from gunpod or forward lasers or the like to his rear laser and blasts. As for feet, it's probably more effective to keep the thrust contained in a conical shape, instead of allowing it to expand in the squared nozzle of the VF-1. Not to mention it allows more surface area to be committed to weight distribution, although the progressive valks get lighter as they go. This all said, I don't know why the super-complex transformation mechanisms are used, versus the simple VF-1's. -
You're wrong. Graham is right. The most effective weapons to use against the Zombie Horde are an M1 Garand .30-06 caliber rifle and a reinforced stainless steel machete. Single headshot from the M1 will destroy the zombie brain, which might I add is the only way to stop a zombie, and it is a good size for hunting game. The machete can be used to cleave through a zombie neck, minimizing its risk at close range, and it can be used for multiple things. Look at whatever a machete is used for on TV. Miniguns, which are incredibly expensive and heavy and tend to jam would have no purpose. Shotguns provide stopping power, but can't destroy the brain. And a pipe bomb would do no good unless blasted at the exact right second, and even then you have a maximum of a 20% success rate. Max Brooks is a smart man, remember this.

First off, welcome to Macross World. Secondly, the last post before yours took place nearly a year ago. Look at the post dates before you do anything. This is standard forum ettiquette. In fact, in general, anything worth keeping is on the first or second page of a forum.

How about the mutation of the most prevalent "Zombie virus"? There's a virus, I'm sure some of you know this, that affects white rats, destroying their higher brain functions, destroying their immune systems, causing them to rot, and become canniballistic, mostly seen in Africa. It's estimated that this virus is carried by at least a third of the total human population, but is unable to affect us because its DNA structure does not mesh with our own. However, knowing how similar Rat DNA actually is to human... It's only one small mutation...

Not bad, if I do say so. Not the best, and I'm not sure if it'd hold up for reals, since Lego Digital Designer does not simulate gravity. However, I'm working on reinforcing the design were I know I'll need it. The only aesthetic elements I need now are the assault rifle. EDIT: I made a thread about it on another anime site. Check it out if you wish. -

That said, it seems there's aim control on the 19's head laser, at the very leaast. Again, Isamu fired it. And the lasers are still on rotating mounts, so they can definitely move to get targets above and behind the craft. With the 2+ laser variants, such as the VF-25F or the VF-19S and the like, I would think they can even face full forward. -
Everything. Every valk, destroid, Zentraedi craft, plane, etcetera; in 1/48 scale, from Yamato. Yamato, in my experience, makes better toys, in that they're more detailed. I haven't had a 1/48 break on me yet. As for Bandai, they're called chunky monkeys for a reason.

What do you guys use to make fansubs into dvd's?
SchizophrenicMC replied to ErikElvis's topic in Movies and TV Series
If you're running Vista, you have a crappy, though workable, DVD maker available for you.
