  1. And I weep for the dinner. Where's my food, woman?!
  2. Well, of course. I used the F-18 as an example, because we all know how little effect it has... Or we all should. Also, if you're discounting the VF-1's wing area being capable of lifting the plane, you've forgotten body lift. The upper fuselage looks like it would be capable of adding another 30-40% of the total lift needed to keep the plane level. The wings provide the rest, and the thrust to weight ratio is much higher than is needed for anything else. Inherently, any plane with this kind of setup is going to require Fly-By-Wire, but that's a given with any fighter these days. I mean, the F-14 never could have been airborne, had it not used the system. (First mass-produced plane with FBW, another record of the Tomcat.)
  3. Somewhat late to responding to the Head Pilot, but there are reasons for my current job hunt, which may actually end with success this time. More Flags, more fun! Six Flags! Oh, and, uh, don't call me Junior. I'm the only one in my family whose name wasn't based on another person's.
  4. Well, according to the compendium, at its tallest point, the HWR-00 Mk II Monster is 22.46m in height. That point is the highest point of the middle gunbarrels. 22.46 * 100 to get the height in centimeters 2246 / 2.5 to get the rough height in inches 898.4 / 48 = 18.7166666667 Thus, in inches, a 1/48 Monster destroid is just under 19 inches tall. In length, from back to gunbarrel, it's 41m tall, therefore a bit more than 31 inches long. At 1/72, the Monster is 12.477777777778 inches tall.
  5. I don't see any that's what she said in that, and I'm a freakin' high school sophomore. Please, point it out for me, Mike.
  6. I think mine is better.
  7. Schweet.
  8. Well, they are canted out to about the same extent as the F/A-18's vertical stabilizers. Looking at the VF-1, it's completely capable of flight. The wing area is large enough to produce lift enough to keep it in the air, not to mention body lift. It has thrust vectoring paddles. (The nozzle is before the "feet", making them paddles) It has elevons. (Thom, that's the term for Ailerons that act as Elevators, as well. I can't remember what they call what you're saying.) It has a flight computer and a form of fly-by-wire. I'd say it's theoretically as stable if not more so than some of the planes we're currently fielding or have used. For example, its inspiration, the F-14 Tomcat. It had straight-vertical elevators, tailerons mounted below the wing plane, and a large space between the nacelles and fuselage, what little of it there was. With all of these, it's no wonder the plane always flew pointed 2 or so degrees up at "level" flight.
  9. Holy crap, I still have the last post in that thread?
  10. This is because the TV version has always been more badass. I mean, in no other anime does a landing ship punch a giant space pickle in the face.
  11. Robotech aside, that's pretty good. By the way, ARCHER DIES!
  12. Is it just me or does it look like they haven't messed with its size?
  13. And I'm kinda inclined to think the one in back looks darker because it has less direct light hitting it than the front. The back one's probably closer to final but the front looks bleached because it's in the middle of an uber-bright light.
  14. Holy itasha!

  16. Looking over at my bookshelf, that blue and white YF-19 looks a lot like Transformers Armada Series-2 Jetfire, in terms of colorscheme.
  17. Ah, no. No, there wasn't. And, from what I've gathered, the reason was the VF-1 didn't produce enough power and didn't have a strong enough spaceframe to handle an independent fold. The YF-19 and 21 were the first to have that ability. Don't let it discourage you, though. Non-canon can be fun, too!
  18. First off, fixed. Secondly, DAMN! That is AMAZING, dude. All kinds of detail. I mean, none of them are Jolly Rogers VF-11, but altogether, it's impressive, that diorama. You did good.
  19. Oh, come on. Let's be good sports about this. It's no competition, neither of us win. We both apparently missed each other's reference, so we'll leave it at that. It's not a big enough deal to over if you ask me. But mine was more obscure Anyway, with how you did this one, I think you could do some pretty good stuff, animating CG, if you put your mind to it.
  20. Hey, I have nothing against you, man. I know that shyte's a lot of work. I only like the VF-1 after its over-focus because it actually has characterization. I mean, it's in all 36 episodes of SDFM, as well as DYRL? and I think every game. The VF-4's in a game, Flashback, and a few frames as a model in SDFM and DYRL? And we just don't see it do much. Anywho, I know you've been doing real stuff lately, but most of the stuff I've seen from you is the VF-4s... Doesn't mean I admire your work any less. This thing I'm doing requires a lot of Perspective tool...
  21. Does anyone have a blacklight and the orange -19? I really wanna see if that orange reacts like everything orange in my room against intense UV. Man... When I do that, everything NERF, Nickolodeon, and Airsoft lights up.
  22. December? As in Christmastime December? Aw, damn... And I've already got a PG Strike on my list... I barely convinced my parents to get me my Valks last year... Solution: Find a job Problem with solution: No one will hire me...
  23. No offense to Talos, but I've decided I hate the VF-4. It is easily my least favorite valk. Before, I kinda liked it, but now, I think even the VF-9 is cooler. Talos, man, I think your work is amazing, but its central focus on the VF-4 and you releasing so much of it over time has just driven me away from it... So, yeah, that's about it. I hate the Lightning III. To be on-topic, I've got something cool in the works. Be sure to remember I jack my stuff from March, so anything beyond the colorscheme and the design (ie shading, canopy, cleaning) are his work. I'm not good enough for that.
