I don't buy it. Abrams is not as good at this as Kershner was, and the story hasn't set itself up for the amazing tragic middle act that Empire was.

RE/100 is basically HG 1/100. There's enough demand for a 1:100 HG-level MkIII to make it, but not enough for an MG MkIII. So, RE/100 it is.

All of the blue stickers are fluorescent. If you shine a blacklight over them, they glow blue. Which is why they're under the translucent blue parts. I do agree about the head sticker, though some careful work with an X-acto knife can fix a lot of the complaints here.

Gundam Build Fighters/Build Fighters Try
SchizophrenicMC replied to VF-15 Banshee's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Look, can we just agree that Sei and China aren't little kids, and they don't need mama watching over them all the time? Does it really matter that Japan is less arbitrary in its arbitrary adulthood age, or is Sketchley always this pedantic?- 971 replies

Much more detailed build than my RG GP01. Very nice. That's about the level of detail I want to achieve for this RG RX-78-2 GFT my cousin bought while he was in Tokyo. At this rate, I won't have it done by Christmas- he gave it to me last year, and I wanted to give it back to him for Christmas this year, as a highly-detailed gunpla-based joke.

Well they say China's in Paris because she's pursuing her painting, and Sei's traveling around Europe because he's a multiple gunpla battle world champ, and there's the heavy implication that they're dating, so why not? But China addresses her letter "China Kousaka" so we can presume they're not married. Oh pish-posh.- 971 replies

Gundam Build Fighters/Build Fighters Try
SchizophrenicMC replied to VF-15 Banshee's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
In Japan, you graduate at 18, you get your driving license at 18, you're considered capable of sexual consent at 18, and you can be married at 18 (in some prefectures). Are Americans only considered adults at 21, because that's the drinking age across most of the country? Are Danes considered adults at 14 because that's their drinking age? There's no one age of license, so I stick to the lowest common denominator. In any case, I looked and Sei and China are confirmed to be 13 year old 7th graders in BF, so they'd have to be 19 in Six Years Later (which sounds like the name of a trashy fanfiction). Not a notable distinction in Japanese law, but it does rule out the idea that they were still kids at that point. Certainly no reason mama would have tagged along. Besides, can you imagine?- 971 replies

Gundam Build Fighters/Build Fighters Try
SchizophrenicMC replied to VF-15 Banshee's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Well, no, they're at least 12 in Build Fighters, and then the Paris scene is titled Six Years Later, which would make them at least 18, which is adult worldwide.- 971 replies

Gundam Build Fighters/Build Fighters Try

I just think he's a teenager who's been told too many times he's good at what he does, and couldn't take it when somebody was like "you're not that good" and stood behind that statement. Of course, Sei is in Europe with China, but where did we get Rinko into that situation? I was under the impression she was still in Japan.- 971 replies

The MW Automotive Thread 5.0 GT
SchizophrenicMC replied to areaseven's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
I drove a GT-R once. The acceleration is monstrous, but once you get over that, you start to feel like the car is fast, but the driver has nothing to do with it. And then it has probably the worst interior of anything in its price range, and the styling is worse than the soulless feel of the thing. I'm not a fan. I always felt the Z should be Nissan's flagship, and the GT-R should be the CTS-V of Skylines. -

458s are pretty cool, but you only see doctors and dentists driving them here in Dallas. They never want to act like they're driving a Ferrari. As much as I see them, I don't know if I've ever heard one on the road. Sure, a Ferrari is totally a status car, but dude you own a Ferrari, act like it once in awhile. If you want people to see you in it, what's wrong with letting them hear it announce your presence every so often? The opposite is true of the GT-R. I see a lot of GT-Rs that are loud and driven spiritedly, by people who lead exciting lifestyles, and are willing to act the part of the GT-R owner, but as technically amazing as that car is, god is it ugly. The only time I've seen an MP4 in person was when I drove to the McLaren dealership. It's adjacent to a Rolls-Royce/Jaguar/Bentley dealership. The Phantom is ENORMOUS. My Jeep is smaller along literally every dimension. -
Beginner's Model Building Construction BASICS

My concern is in the violent nature of the high-pressure aerosol in a spray can. Regular spray cans use very high pressure to shoot high-viscosity paint a fairly large distance, to generate a fairly large fan or cone spray. While the solvent may affect the acrylic paint, even in a model spray can, the difference is model spray cans use lower pressures, narrower nozzles, and lower-viscosity paints. I'd recommend a model spray like Tamiya Spray if I was going to use aerosol paint or clear on a model kit. I've actually recently been using various rattle cans in the prep and trim work on my car. They're right on the inside edge of what I'd deem acceptable for use on a car with proper masking and surface prep. Controlling the paint flow is exceedingly difficult, and any effects you create on a model kit are scaled up however much the kit's scale is. A run in your paint on a 1/100 kit is 100 times bigger at scale. I really don't recommend rattle cans for model kits for this reason. -
Regardless of what anyone thinks of Seed as a series, the PG Strike is a very well-thought-out and well-designed kit. It really sets a high standard to achieve for Perfect Grade. But I do think it's an achievable standard, given how few and far between PG releases are. And especially with something like Unicorn Gundam, which is a very popular moneymaker for Bandai, I'd expect them to go all-out with it. I'm waiting on the product demo. There has to be more to it than those pictures.

At PG scale and cost, they really should be able to accomplish significantly more than the MG. I know they did with Strike.

So we painted the 240SX today: Bryan doing his thing Laying the first coat of clear After the second coat: Three coats: At 5 feet, it's already perfect. Tomorrow, we wet-sand. Also, I went to a local car meet today. A guy in a WRX was showing off. So I moved my Jeep. He shut up after that. -
Bandai got lazy on this one I think. The MG has nice surface breakup, for its scale. But if you double that to the 1/60, you need a lot more to keep the surfaces visually distinct. Otherwise it just feels like a big toy. Pending the product demo, I'm probably not gonna buy it at this rate. It just wouldn't look as good as PG Strike does, and people would think it was a megasize.

This could either be the Best Unicorn Ever, or the Lamest PG Ever, depending on how all of this goes down.

Grand Cherokee guys are weird. A lot of them post about beating Civics. I always ask "did he know you were racing?" That said, when that Mopar mill opens up, it's easy to get hooked to the sound and the vague feeling of being pushed into your seat a little bit. I hope they do an SRT with the Hellcat engine. That'd be a properly fast Jeep. -
