Not gonna say anything to jinx... Well, everything seems to be going ok-ishly, right?
-
I have whole folders dedicated to single projects! Actually... Never mind, yours is better. Here's a sample of a sample of my work: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nRnf0AVLTk That is the kind of thing I do with WMM... Keep in mind, it's a WIP, and I forgot to clip the ends off... However, "Ranka-chan! News desu yo! Ultra-super-big-news desu!"

Bandai/Tamashi Nations 1/100 lineup. 2009 takeoff!
SchizophrenicMC replied to UN Spacy's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I said EX notwithstanding... So, that's 2, I guess. Which means... 8 171s. (VF-171, RVF-171, VF-171 EX, RVF-171 EX, VF-171 EX Alto, VF-171 EX Super, VF-171 EX Alto Super, RVF-171 EX Super) -
You know what? We're off-topic. I don't wanna be banned from another forum for being off-topic. My points: Legos are cheaper Legos don't break as easily Yamato is too expensive Yamato breaks a lot Lemme put it to you this way: would you mind if Yamato REDUCED their prices? If you would, you got problems, dude.
-
Put it to ya this way: Most of the CURRENT properties are external. Outdated and expired properties don't count. For example, what happened to Bandai's Macross properties between 7 and Frontier? Similarly sized Yamato Components... Did you just say that? That's my entire point. Yamato parts break far more easily than legos of similar size. Some pieces aren't good enough to handle the strain, but overall... Overall, I keep hearing bad things about Yamatos breaking and I have over 16,000 Legos, 5 of which have broken over the last 12 years of collecting them. And if all of this talk of components is moot, how about the pricing of QC? I mean, one would think Yamato's valks show how QC's been pushed aside for profit...
-
And you'll find the parts used in the Yamato valks in any model for that scale (Say 1/60 VF-1A) uses the same parts. All that's different between the different versions are their paint masks and plastic color. Remember Skyfire? New paintmask for the old 1/55. With Lego, they've got to maintain production facilities for hundreds of different parts. The 2X4 isn't the only Lego brick. And at least Lego has good QC. Have you ever had a lego fall apart? (Sets notwithstanding, as they do that. It's expected of them. What fun is a modular toy that you can't take apart?) Can you take a Lego 2X4 and snap it in half? A friction hinge with no friction is outrageous, and Lego agrees. QC starts from the minute they buy their molds. Each is measured with a micrometer. If the mold isn't within .2 millimeters of perfect, it's thrown out. This is why a Lego hinge has resistance. Lego has 23 Properties. Of them, 13 are externally copyrighted/trademarked. Moving from there, more sets are made for the external properties than internal. Why? It sells better. Lego Star Wars is damn popular with the kids, and their parents, even more so. On the same token, a 25 year old is not very likely to buy a Lego City Airplane. Yet, we see that Lego charges much less. If Lego made a Macross line, we'd have something GREAT! It's just my belief, that based on other companies, Yamato overcharges, and is totally okay with it, because their customers are totally okay with it.

Official Bandai 1/60 Scale DX Toy Thread Ver.2
SchizophrenicMC replied to Graham's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
That's what she said! -
But they are. Almost every new set has a new part. We're not still using the same parts from 1971. No. Look at that Falcon, for example. I can list at least 21 new parts made especially for that. Except, they've changed material 3 times in the last 5 years. Go to the Billund, Denmark building and tell me you still think that. Yet only one unique toy is made per model. The rest are different paint masks, and that's it. Disputed? I meant in litigation. Harmony Gold's been barred from any distribution of Macross products, on its way to total forfeit of its Macross copyrights (Except Robotech's Macross Saga), should Big West press the charges further. They've been getting this money from sales of merchandise. However, merchandise only goes so far. Toys, anyway. Only a small part of the money in the cost of a Yamato is royalties. Same goes for Lego, now that I think of it. Lego Star Wars, Lego Speed Racer, Lego Harry Potter, Lego Ferarri, Lego Indiana Jones, Lego Spongebob, Lego Batman. This constitutes roughly 6.2/8 of their products. That is to say, of every 40 Lego Products, 31 are externally trademarked. Um... That don't sound like most.

Ooh, I didn't think about the Ex-gear. Well, Mr March? Btw, I love you, March. (No homo. I just really appreciate the M3! )
-
Well, the VF-1 I showed you is about 1/32 scale and it transforms... So, a VF-25 isn't much of a stretch. Not Kawamori-sensei's lego Messiah, but a more refined one... And on your note of the molds, they take a lot of strain and are generally replaced within 2 years. The molds lose quality over time. A wing panel is a wing panel, but those molds last for years. A 2x4 Lego Brick mold, aside from taking the strain of a denser plastic being extruded through it, produces more of the bricks and doesn't last a long time. And Harmony Gold's copyright is disputed, finally. Big West is now saying that Tatsunoko never had the right to give HG the copyrights, since they didn't own them. If BW wins...

I dunno. Bungie Studios, employed entirely by greedy Americans, seems pretty content with the idea of selling downloadable content at well below market prices for content of the same class. However, their publishers disagree. Personally, I think you've got to look at this from a pre-profit perspective: The plastic is cheap. Molding it is cheap. Assembly's probably the most expensive step. Packaging is rather cheap. However, profit is expensive. For example, Legos. All of them are made in Denmark, Sweden, and the Czech Republic. They are molded out of higher-grade plastic than even the Yamatos, (It's actually approved as a construction material in some places), packaged by hand since machines can't sort them correctly, (And these sets can have hundreds, even thousands, of pieces.) and then processed in Billund, Denmark, London, Britain, and finally Enfield, Connecticut in the US. Yet I see few sets priced above $100. A single Yamato 1/60 is more expensive and has fewer possibilities. So what's my point? Legos pwn.

Macross: Variable Fighter operations
SchizophrenicMC replied to Remko's topic in Movies and TV Series
Maybe. maybe. If only there was a canon explanation for all of the concepts visited in the entire Macross Universe. It'd help me sleep at night. However, this crazy speculation is pretty fun. -
Well, not stuttering, per se, but slight hesitation between words in some places. Though, as you noted, it could be a mic thing, or a sound editing thing. Well, if a guy bails, I guess I can see why you'd have to jump into that role. Just a personal question, though. No vendetta against yourself. Just wanted some enlightenment. No offense or anything. As for voice, I meant the pitch of your voice's base. You can tell who voice acted a role, based on their previous works. If one listens closely, you can tell that Sam Vincent, who played Athrun Zala in Gundam Seed, also played Edd from Ed, Edd, and Eddy. I liked Nataku. However, the Captain of the Asuka didn't sound like an experienced and aged captain. No offense to you. Some roles just need certain people. Again, think Crispin Freeman.

The point stands: Yamato toys are Japanese, therefore expensive

Macross: Variable Fighter operations

Or maybe, 6 SV-51s were produced specially for this airshow, and the Blue Angels used a modified sub that was of the same class as the Auerstat. I mean, the VF-0s had Thermonuke Reaction turbines in All That VF 0, as is inferenced by the thrusters. You can't compare now to the 80s. Now, animation is very precise in comparison. If something happens, chances are it's meant to. Remember SDFM episode 32? It led to the YF-1R in Robotech? That was because each frame was drawn by hand. Now, it's mostly in computers. -
1/48+fp's, 1/60, And 1/72 Picture Gallery Pt 3

Yeah, but the helmet was VERY different in Macross Zero, versus an actual Tommie helmet. Those Helmets Rock! How'd you get all of 'em? And what should I be noticing about Rick... I mean Hikaru ()? -
Problem is, I live in Texas, where the grass doesn't grow, so no one wants me to mow their yellow lawn... And no one would let me babysit, as no one knows me, and those that do, don't trust me. (It's because I'm not 16 yet, isn't it. ) I am a young, entrepeneurial person, however, the universal response of people with grass in their yard is, "I already have a lawnmower." I'm not selling mine. I'm selling my services. No one wants them. So, eventually, over the course of 2 years (And, actually, my dad steals a lot of the money I make) I can earn around $200. Roughly the price of a Yamato and shipping.

Macross: Variable Fighter operations
SchizophrenicMC replied to Remko's topic in Movies and TV Series
But.. We do. Shin accidentally landed the plane in water, and was scared shitless. The engines were still operating, keeping them afloat, when Ed told him that the engines work with the intakes shut. It was later, while he was grabbing that chunk of AFOS, that he was in GERWALK, and even then, using only the backpack thrusters wouldn't give enough thrust to move through water at enough velocity to catch up. -

I've been thinking about how cool a VF-171 would be... It was on the poster, so... VF-171? (Is this the only Valk with no different variants (A, D, F, G, J, S?) EX notwithstanding) -
Macross: Variable Fighter operations
SchizophrenicMC replied to Remko's topic in Movies and TV Series
Exactly. However, they're still Combustion engines. So, they need oxygen, and probably have storage tanks for O2 that go into use when the intakes are shut. No matter what, the SV-51 would need oxygen to start the engines. This is where the problem arises: A jet afterburning uses a lot of air and fuel, and a submarine doesn't have the former in it. Enough, anyway. Liquid oxygen is not combustible by a jet engine, and must be given time and room to expand into gaseous 02. While this is the basis of liquid fueled rockets, it is too slow for combat reaction in a jet. And launching is considered a combat reaction, since it must be quick. Also, it's a lot denser. Now, if I'm wrong about what I type, gimme some slack, Jack. I can barely understand what I'm talking about at this moment, as it's almost 2:00 AM. I will continue this in a more correct way tomorrow. -
Just watched it, man. Epic stuff. Personal question here, no vendetta against you or anything, but do you always cast yourself as the main character? I mean, DYRL?, Zero, Frontier... I can see Hikaru, definitely, but you're just not the carrier of Alto or Shin's soul, know what I mean? Hikaru's a bit of a kid, and your voice is kinda sorta higher pitched than most guys your age and a bit nasal. (Flonase? ) It works for Hikaru. (And blows Vic Mignona out of the water.) However, when I think Shin, I think "Strong, silent type. Really ominous when he says something. Kinda like Master Chief, in a way." I mean, it's your production, so do as you see fit... And I'm glad you agree about Alto. It'd be a really tough sell, you know? Overall, dude, I love how Episode one was mixed. A few spots where volume was flippy. And, no offense, but the Captain of the Asuka II sounded like a retard. Almost like Kakizaki... It works for fun-loving Hayao, but not for the gruff captain of an aircraft carrier. Think Crispin Freeman... Roy seemed to fit his personality well, especially with DYRL? considered. Lady's man, doesn't euphemise, treats his plane like a fine woman... Sucks that you're lacking dialogue... Little constructive criticism: I've noticed you stutter some of your lines slightly. Zero and DYRL?. Not even the stuttered lines. If there's anything you could do to work on that, at least on your part, it'd be an A+ production. I give this a 4.2/5 for some editing issues.

90s Kids FTW! You know you've been here too long when VA means Valkoholics Anonyomous, not Variable Attacker.
