Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Model Kit Thread Ver.3
bullet101 replied to azrael's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
I really don't like the look of the new 'Tornado' pack, it destroys the look of the VF-25 whilst also making it look dated. At least with the regular super pack it retained the overall looks and feel of the VF-25 and even with the armoured pack it still looked good. Makes it looked like the VF-25 with something from SDF:M tacked on to it. -
Because if it had Destroids centre stage, it would be Gundam by another name.

Please show me a picture of an F-14C? I can show you sites with pictures of every F-14 model including all the prototypes, but none of an F-14C, because it simply didn't exist as far as i know.
-
The F-14C never existed as anything other than an aircraft on paper, all of the improvements that were supposed to be in the F-14C were later incorporated into the F-14A+ (later renamed F-14B) and the F-14D, the only difference being that the F-14C would have had the GE F101DFE engines. The Macross F-14 Kai, or whatever it's called, has the Chinpod of the F-14D, the seats and cockpit of an F-14A or early F-14B, the under wing glove bumbs or an F-14B and the GE F-110 engines of the F-14B and D. If you want to build one in 1/48th your best bet would be to use the Hasegawa F-14D kit and change the cockpit to that stated earlier. The italeri kit isn't really that good, and you will need to source aftermarket parts for the engines, cockpit and chinpod, which when added up will proberbly end up as the same price as the Hasegawa kit. If you do decide to start with the italeri kit as your base you will need to change the engine nozzels and their fairings to the F-110's (the F-14A had TF 30's which look very different to F-110's), change the TACAN antenna on the spine for a late model one, add a couple of bumps on each side under each wing glove, change the under nose pod to the dual kind used on the D (which is wider and very different to that used on mid to late F-14A's and B's) and finally change the cockpit to a decent representation of either a late A or early to mid B.

Not meaning to be rude to anyone, but looking at the parts breakdown of the super packs that were shown some time ago i would have thought it was pretty obvious that it would either need to be incorporated whilst the model was being built or one would have to dissasemble their build one to fit the new parts. I may now repaint my Alto into a custom scheme, despite all the work i put into it, since i have the Alto + super pack kit on order. Maybe a VF-25 with the proper UN Spacy logo (not that new NUNS logo) and a tactical paint scheme.

RVF-25 is a Recon and ELINT aircraft. You can see this from its designation R for Recon and by the whay it perfoms on screen, gathering intel about hostile craft, their weak points etc. An AWACS is an early warning and command and control aircraft, and not just at squad level but at full tactical level as well, managing the battlefield. Quite obviously the RVF-25 is not this type of aircraft.

VF-0A is apparently going to be restocked in Jan, according to Hobby Search.
-
I would buy a fighter mode 1/72 VF-19F/S or VF-14, you can pick as much money as you want from my wallet for one of those.
-
If your plan is to build the hasegawa kits eventually then i would suggest buying something along these lines first: http://www.hlj.com/product/HSGE2 it is a relatively well fitting kit and doesn't have a huge number of parts. This way you practice all sorts of techniques on it before moving on to the Valks. If your aim to to build the Bandai Valks then you can either do the above (to get basic modelling prinicples) and then buy a cheap gundam kit to get the idea of how bandai things go together, or you can just buy the cheapest MG Gndam kit you can find to get the basic principles of the bandai kits and allo you to practice some things before moving on the the expensive valks.

The N could be a model designation, like SDF-Next gen etc? Sort of an updated version of the SDF class that retains the same shell but has updated systems?

Macross Frontier Mecha/Technology Thread IV *Read 1st Post*
bullet101 replied to azrael's topic in Movies and TV Series
Perhaps they wanted to test the Ghost against the current UN Spacy standard that at the time was most likely just above parity with any hostile craft that it might come up against? Another thought is perhaps variable fighters have a short front line life span because of their very nature. I mean all that extreme maneuvering plus changing form fighter to gerwalk to battroid has got to put a hell of alot of stress on the airframe and eventually this will lead to alot of fatigue on critical componants, thus eventually rendering the aircraft unfit for frontline service. -
1/72 Bandai VF-25F Messiah build-up step-by-step (sort of)
bullet101 replied to wm cheng's topic in The Workshop!
You missed one area that rubs quite a bit. Its the forward part of the top of the head. It rubs against the underside of the 'back plate', thinning the underside might fix it, though i haven't tried that yet. If you're going to do it on its landing gear, replaced or not, the current ones are too tall by about half a cm. From looking at the animation a scale person shoulc be able to touch the lower side of the leg air intake. -
Haven't seen one yet, but some along the lines of those in the All that VF vid would be nice. Such as the 25th Anniversary schemed VF-25
-
Actually if you look closely at the M7 picture i think it is a Uraga class ship, not even misdrawn or a mod. It just the angle and shadows that make it look different. If you look closely you can see the double point of the front hull, then the step with the two launch/retrevial holes etc.
-
Well i've just about finished mine now, quite happy with it, haven't transformed it yet. Only part i have left to do is remodel and paint the landing gear, especially since judging from the series its not only overly clunky but also at the very least half a centimetre too tall! So going by that even though the little alto in the cockpit is undersized he'd still need to be the size of a small zentradi child to just be able to touch the nose of the valkyrie!!!!

Bandai 1/72 Scale Macross Frontier Plastic Models

OMG!!!! I can't wait for all these! Ozma already on preorder, but i must have a Micheal and Luca and Super Pack!!!! Good day today then, coincides with me getting three quarters of the way done with my Alto. Anyone else notice that the super pack Alto has a different cod piece? Any idea why this is, it doesn't look like extra armour? -

Hi Wm, I'm currently building mine right now, as i would a model kit, i.e. painting everything, future, decaling, top cote etc. The decals are very thin and in most cases lack enough opacity to stop the underlying colour from showing through. Also note that some of the moving parts fit very tightly without paint, with paint they become a real pain in the ass to get to sit right. -
I dunno, i certainly think the protection factor could be a big cause for the change in transformation styles. Even with the energy converting armour, a bullet/knife/missile etc would still have to penetrate alot more in the VF-19 and VF-25 than say the earlier VF-1 and VF-11 to get to the pilot. The VF-1 and 11 only have a shield over the canopy plus, given its location in battroid mode, its right in the front in the 'kill zone' area, where most people would aim for and is also the largest area/target on the valk. With transformations like on the VF-19 and 25, the cockpit retracts into the rear of the battroid form, not only in a more slender fashion, therefore a harder target to hit, but also with more armour and other things like a wheel well etc to get through before you hit the pilot.

Hey Noyhauser, thats a nice VF-4 you have going there. I'm a brush painter as well and used to get alot of streaking when i used tamiya paints. As soon as i switched to gunze and xtraxrylics paints i never had a problem with streaks. -
Seems to me the next logical step for a macross villain/villains would be a UN spacy civil war. Maybe even told from the breakaway/anti UN faction.
