Well, we wont know until we see it! Having said that, Satelite will also be selling the MacF genga book at the exhibit - I'd be surprised if they covered the same ground with both publications. http://www.satelight...post_002256.php Then again, even from the initial flyers for it that were at MACROSS: THE DESIGN, this new exhibit seemed aimed more at Frontier (Sheryl was all over the flyer, whereas posters for THE DESIGN all featured Minmay more prominently). Contact them and ask. This stuff goes on sale TOMORROW so ask now or risk not getting stuff. Exactly the same links from the front page and the same information covered by the ANN article. Also, is it too much to ask that you dont drop chunks of Japanese text unless you have the time/are willing to explain it to everyone else?

Yeah, me too. And remastered or not, that 7 footage wont look great on a the big screen - especially intercut with the more modern digitally painted/CG new Frontier footage. IMO it's going to come down to the balance and mix. If we are looking at, say, 80mins of recut M7 footage with 10 mins of new Frontier footage to bookend it I wont be impressed. On the other hand, if they make a decent amount of new Frontier footage and actually make the encounter that they have with this mysterious alien lifeform interesting - and then tie things up in such a way that we actually learn something new, I think Ill be satisfied. Personally, I'm more disappointed at how the reuse of M7 footage means we probably wont get any new Firebomber songs (maybe they'll slice in some from re:Fire?) and they will have missed the opportunity for some awesome crossover/mash up music potential :-( Weird! Well, I WAS multitasking at work when I put that up ;-) Fixed!

Updated both of todays news pieces with related stories from ANN: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2012-08-08/macross-stage-musical-1st-ad-streamed http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2012-08-08/macross-fb-7-hybrid-rock-anime-project-outlined

FYI they are releasing these AS they are made. And of course, only 2 eps on the first disc allowed them to bring it out at a cheaper price than subsequent ones AND split all the remaining episodes cleanly between 4 eps per disc. When the first disc came out they were all that had been made.

It's just the typical 'don't copy or publicly screen this' warning that is at the beginning (or ending) of most anime. It's read by Misa's voice actress to give it some flavor and actually make you pay attention which is a great idea IMO. The Frontier movie did the same thing- they had different versions done by Sheryl, Ranka and Alto to mix things up a bit tho.

So.... you missed it in the picture I posted previously? Could you have been...distracted by something by any chance? ;-) http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=35927&view=findpost&p=987012 Uhm, its not $50 an episode. Not even close. Disc 2 has 4 episodes at (going by amazon.jp) 6000yen (closer to 5000 yen if you preordered). Thats 1500yen per episode (or approx. 1250yen per episode if you preordered). Naturally theres postage on top of that, but really, spread out at one disc every 3 months or so, given the quality and episode count, I find it difficult to sympathise with anyone who wants to complain about the price - especially as a Macross fan who has gotten screwed over with much higher prices for less content (with no subs and not in HD) for decades. As far as a US release is concerned, my take on the issue is not that there are licensing issues, but rather the fact that SF is out of vogue at the moment in the West, especially among Western anime fandom at large. Then theres the fact that Yamato is largely unknown - to tap into the sort of nostalgia that would drive enough sales to make the show profitable it would need to be renamed Starblazers - this could run into licensing issues, objections from the licensees/licensors/fanbase, etc. Regardless, even if a US release WAS on the cards, I highly doubt we can expect an announcement until after the entire series has been released in Japan (due to both fear of reverse importation and the fact that the only viable business model in the US would require a box set).

DYRL BD Remaster - the Good.......and the BAD.

Ah yeah telling them that would be pretty counterproductive to say the least. KY much? Yeeeeeesh. -
Some new regarding the upcoming Megaroad Launch Ceremony - it's just been announced that in addition to Mika Doi (Misa), Aya Endo (Sheryl) and Megumi Nakajima (Ranka), special guests will now also include Tomo Sakurai (Mylene) and Sho Hayami (Maximillian Jenus)! Definitely sounds like the event will cater to oldskool fans as much as new ones! Also, given the mix of Frontier and 7 cast members, could we possibly hear more about the upcoming Macriss FB7 project? :-)

Since A lot of pics from Wonderfest (today) will no doubt start trickling in over the next few days, I thought I'd start a general thread for them. The pics that follow are some that I took at Yamato's booth. It's late so I won't be resizing or making any additional notes on them for now. Enjoy!

Actually no, it isnt. Its been displayed twice - for a week in Tokyo (probably when all the interview footage was taken) and 3 days in Nagoya. Whenever it gets reassembled in Osaka (unannounced as of yet) it will probably be for 2-3 days max. As a result I know plenty of locals who missed out on seeing it too, for what its worth.

Because any bad will about the DYRL BD is really just water under the bridge? Ba dum dum! I'll be here all week folks :-)

Latest Anniversary News http://www.macrossworld.com/2866/30th-anniversary-news-0727/

That depends on what you mean by update I suppose. There are 4 tankobons to date, with a new chapter appearing in Newtype Ace which gets released on the 10th of each month. Having said that, there will be no new chapter next month so the next new chapter should be September. Mikimoto's publishers have asked him to make The First his main priority this year, being the 30th anniversary and all that, but he was also focusing on getting his latest art book out until fairly recently. Not to mention the fact that he keeps getting commissioned to do new art for every new bluray release (Mikimoto's art for the DYRL BD was running quite late apparently, which is why Amazon was using placeholder art, then Tenjins boxart. It wasn't until the theatrical screening the the long awaited boxart was revealed in poster form - long story short, the man is pretty busy). Additionally, Mikimoto has stated that he would like the manga to cover at least up to Love Drifts Away but isn't sure whether it will continue past that point.

No. Bandai was asking fans to lend them items from their collections to replicate for the collectors box. At one point they provided a list of things they wanted to borrow.

Yeah. If you ever want to upset an office party, just proudly announce that you do not remember your own blood type and, moreover, do not give a damn. then watch as everyone scrambles over each other trying to guess your blood type based on your personality. ;-)
