The winners of the Miss Macross 30 Contest have been officially announced: http://macross30.com/mmc/ Singer Wing: Haruka Chisuga (20y/o from Iwate) Actress Wing: Yuki Katagi (19y/o from Osaka) Interestingly, while Haruka outright won the Singer category, there was no grand winner for the actress category. Yuki was an applicant who the judges thought had a character that they wanted to portray in the Musicalture. Yuki's forst appearance on stage was at the Megaroad launch ceremony last Sunday.

Just updated the music special piece on the front page. Will have a few more updated details tonight: http://www.macrosswo...-musix-special/ EDIT: Added broadcast pamphlet details You are actually comparing Apples to Oranges there. Miss Macross 25 was for a major role in an anime series and associated music deal. It was a kindofa a BIG thing. Miss Macross 30 is for two (actress wing and songstress wing) complete newcomers that wont necessarily be playing the main role and is for a live production in Tokyo that lasts for a week. The scale (and stakes) arent really comparable. As for cuteness, Yuki is supposed to be a complete amatuer. thats where the interest and appeal lies for the audience. She doesnt even know how to speak properly in public yet. Sayaka is an older, trained professional and it shows. The two have very diferent roles and got equally different audience responses at the Launch Ceremony. You would be correct sir! Back row from left: Mika Doi, Sho Hayami, Tomo Sakurai, Aya Endo, Megumi Nakajima. Front row is for the MUSICALTURE representatives: (from left) Yuki Katagi (winner of the 'Actress Wing' of Miss Macross 30), Kanae Yoshi (from '9nine') and Sayaka Kanda. Dude, I spent Sunday witnessing Sayaka first hand. We have much to discuss when we next get some drinks ;-)

Not really. IMO its worded that way because Japanese are so much more lenient when it comes to stuff that's NOT part of the official setting. Which, as I'm sure you know, vastly outnumbers the official stuff.

Good find Veef! Glad to know that this darn thing is still coming out. Remember though, the Master Files arent 'canon' (uhoh...I said the C word!). They are more like glorified dojinshi in some respects.

Those are pics from the Megaroad Launch Ceremony which I am hoping to have a report of up by the end of the week. Three of the actresses from Musicalture were there. One of them was the winner of the Actress 'Wing" of the Miss Macross Contest. Seriously, you need to explain the stuff you post and stop expecting others to do it for you.....

Well, it's my sad duty to bring this old thread back for a bit of bad news. I actually came across the smaller of the two Minmay glass portraits on ebay and managed to win it. The seller said he bought it off someone in HK. Not sure if it was Valk009 or someone who had bought it from him. I had it sent to a friend in the US to minimize shipping distance knowing it was a fragile item. Despite this, the sender apparently failed to wrap the glass plate in more than a single layer of bubblewrap. The result was heartbreaking. If any more of these get made I'd definitely be interested in one. In the meantime though, it looks like a one of a kind item may have been lost forever.

The Wolverine FILMS (X-Men Universe)
Tochiro replied to antibiotictab's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Yep it's for Wolverine. I met someone recently who tried out for a role in the movie here in Tokyo. (^_-) -
Aha, you wouldn't have read that recent article on Kotaku by any chance? I sent a correction in regarding the availability of DYRL on PSN but I don't know if they fixed that error or not. The thing that many people don't seem to realize is that Bandai is very touchy about their earlier generation licensed anime games being available digitally. That's why the only thing in that genre that they really have on PSN is super robot wars. Could be the typical publisher resistance to going digital or could be rights/licensing related. Either way, the only way you can play a Macross game as a general rule is to buy a physical copy. But hey at least you get cool packaging and all that stuff! As for DYRL, the only two things I can suggest are either picking up the limited edition BD box or else look around online to see if anyone is willing to sell their download code. EDIT: oh and welcome to the boards! \(^o^)/

Provided I can get get one at the local store on the morning it's released I'll probably pick one up.

Sorry to hear that. You have my condolences.
-
You didnt pick the BDs up? Far better way to watch em than Animax imo.
-
yes thats correct. We received an Animax pamphlet showing all the Macross shows that will be broadcast.
-
Not necessarily. Bandai said back when they effectively closed (leaving only 2-3 people) their US subsidiary that they would keep publishing whatever titles they had until their license to do so expired. That is, apparently, this November. The more popular ones will no doubt be scooped up by Funi at some point. And while I dont expect there to be any further official US domestic Gundam releases, Bandai IS putting English subs on a lot of their Japanese BDs so that hardcore fans in the US can import (of the newer titles, Yamato 2199, Gundam Unicorn, Gundam Seed HD, Gundam Age, and Aquarian Evol so far from memory). And while Japanese prices may be steep, lets face it, the only people interested in these shows ARE the hardcore mecha fans anyway - putting a robot in a show is the kiss of death as far as the main body of younger modern western anime fans are concerned. TL;DR - new stuff is still going to be available subbed for those who really want it. popular old stuff will be licensed rescued. old unpopular stuff - well you have until November to pick those titles up.

Bandai Namco has just announced that it will hold a Macross talk show at some point during the Tokyo Game Show this month. No further information as to what will e talked about or what day the session will be held yet. Could this possibly signal the announcement of a new Macross game?!?!?!? Unfortunately I'll be at TGS in a work capacity this year but am hoping I can sneak away from the booth long enough to catch this f^_^

There's a weekly online special on Sept. 13 covering the latest Musicalture and FB7 news. More details as they become available. Yeah there are characters from PW directly referenced so it's cool that the story will be continuing since PW was a darn good little game (and also on the ps3 now for those without PSPs). Personally I loved the fact that during the actual gameplay they were reusing some of the lines from Campbell and Snake in MGS 1. Either way, at least this is looking and feeling like MGS, unlike Metal Gear Bayonetta...
