Ahaha, its from Day 2 (Sunday), so it features Akino Arai and Chie stopping the band halfway through My Friends and starting again because the guitars were so loud she couldnt hear herself singing, hahaha. Poor Chie. She has such a cute scowl.

Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition
Tochiro replied to sharky's topic in Movies and TV Series
Congratulations VF because you are now going to have an absolutely awesome piece of animation to watch. Good job!.... but in what sort of drug induced, gubaba juice fuelled whack dream state did you hear that it would be subtitled? When has ANYTHING from Mac F been subtitled? Everyone can bitch and complain until the cows come home, but subtitles aint happening anytime soon. The business model for the show was based on JPN audience only - thats who its for - and English subs are of zero use to them. But regardless, at least you are supporting the franchise. Well done! -
Interesting. Another new original story. Name is very confusing. Immediately made me think of GUNDAM THE RIDE over at FujiQ. Hmmm... cant seem to dig any news up... anyone else have more luck? Should definately be some news in Macross Ace this month Id say.

Sounds interesting. Am interested in hearing more. The whole 'buying what you can to help support the industry' thing is/was a cornerstone of being an anime/Macross fan for most Gen X fans who got into anime back before it become so prevelant/popular. Then cam Gen Y and some ridiculous sense of entitlement to free media ... erk Im not even going to start getting into that )or hijacking the thread) here. Then again, I still buy most of my music on CD so what do I know? lol. -

Do you have any idea as to what this 'Unleashed' is? A leaked song? A rumoured album name? No titles for songs for the upcoming movie have been announced yet (way too early) although some of a new Ranka song was played in the 2nd movie teaser, and I'd be surprised if we didnt see at least another new song released at or by the Macross F Xmas events in December, similar to the way Sou da yo and Pink Monsoon were played prior to the first movie being released. As for 'Unleashed', Ive never heard of the name, sorry. -

Hahahaha, figured you two would be the first to reply, lol. While this is just me theorizing at the moment, with the 2nd Frontier movie due in Feb., I cant help but think that the kajiura thing in the same month is too much of a coincidence ;-) A Macross Crossover 2? With no Sankyo money to back it, I cant see that happening. But they are holding the second annual Gundam tribute concert in a row this Sept, at a much smaller venue. Could a similar thing happen with a Macross concert? (Ok, now Im REALLY pulling thoughts outta my ass). But who knows. Fingers crossed tho.

@Keith - Agreed! You sir, win a cookie! @Thom - most likely none. Most Japanese blurays/DVDs dont even have Japanese subtitles for those with hearing difficulties. As for English, sorry mate but it isnt happening. Fortunately some of us here dont need em ;-) But in your case, why not grab the blu to help support the franchise and then get the subtitled version from *ahem* other sources later on? -
Macross 25th Anniversary Special Eizou High Quality?
Tochiro replied to lost password guy's topic in Movies and TV Series
Thats the way it was originally streamed - Japanese companies are notorious for crappy quality streaming trailers, etc. Some of the footage is reused in a special, unused opening to Macross Ultimate Frontier. Its on the bonus UMD that came with it. You will need a hacked or Japanese PSP to play it though. -
Hot on the heels of her recent 15th anniversary concert, Chie Kajiura's fanclub newsletter is hinting at something going down on the 2nd and 4th of February next year. Details are due to be announced 'soon.' No idea at this point if its a solo gig, an appearance at someone elses gig, or another Basara-Mylene special (with the Firebomber reunion in 2009, 2011 might be a bit soon for another one, but I can always hope!)but more Kajiura can only be a good thing. Will keep you guys posted if I hear anything.

It will probably have reports on all the recent events that various ppl have mentioned here in the forums: Megumi Nakajima, Chie Kajiura concert, Mari Iijima concert, First half of Mayns summer tour, Girasama Festival, probably some shots from the AX concert as well. As for new news (and the thing I LOVE about Macross Ace is that it covers all things Macross. Apart from Macross the First, the event pics and valk/figure/merch announcements are often my favourite bits!) it will be way too early for news on the 2nd movie but I expect they will go into more details on the Christmas event, cover the bluray/ps3 game, announce some new figures, the usual :-)

Ahahaha, so THATS where you got to Renato! I meant to get those pics up myself but it slipped my mind. Still have reports from Girasama and the Mari Iijima concert to write up yet. Eegads, so busy! That temporary Macross shop was fun. The one and only time Ive ever seen FIREBOMBER keychains :-) -

Macross Frontier Movie 2 thread - Now available on Blu-ray/DVD
Tochiro replied to Tochiro's topic in Hall Of The Super Topics
Well, I have 10 mins before I have to dash from the airport net cafe and jump on a plane, so detailed observations wll need to wait untl later. I am, howevwer, going to throw a few pics up in the meantime. Yes, sorry for the size, but I dont have time to downscale them at the moment and probably wont be able to access the site for the next day or two. Save was taking some pics too so I expect he will have some better ones up before long. This was the line for merch. I waited for 2 hrs and was still 40% away from geting in. Ended up asking someone else o pick stuff up for me. Seriously the most crowded nerch line Ive EVER seen. But at least we had stuff to watch while we were waiting ;-) Daruma SDF1 ATTACK! Wall of posters. Sing-a-long with SHerryl? Why make your costumes when you can buy em? Yes, they actually made Rankas backback a reality. Lotsa Valks and figures 8000 seats sold out for both sessions. -
Straight from Kawamoris mouth: Macross F movie 2- Feb 26, 2011 Mac F music clip coll ( dvd&blu with original footage as well as tv and movie footage)- Dec 15, 2010. Macross F Xmas event (produced by yoko kana): Dec 24, 2010. Work on the music clip collection is what caused the delay of the 2nd movie. Also, screams from the 8000ppl crowd were recorded to be used in the movie, Save and myself among them p()q Rough teaser for movie 2 was shown. 20% was still sketches. Some new dogfights, a new poppy ranka song. Phone batts are dying so will update further once I get to the airport in a couple of hrs.

Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition
Tochiro replied to sharky's topic in Movies and TV Series
I don't mind Eien, although I dont remember exactly where it was used in the movie - I think it was used in the credits though. The three songs in particular I was referring to were Universal Bunny, Obelisk and Pink Monsoon. All have been done live several times and absolutely rock the house. Then again, I dont think there was a bad song on Universal Bunny - it really was a superb album. Am hoping for equal goodness with the next movie in 2011 :-) Speaking of which - fingers crossed a release date will be announced at the Girasama Festival this Sunday! -
Awesome memory and great find!

Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition
Tochiro replied to sharky's topic in Movies and TV Series
Uhm, well yes actually. Thats why I saw it in the cinema 3 times and have the blu on preorder. And while I prefer the series over the first movie, it fleshes out quite a few bits that the series neglected, adds a couple of rockin" fights and some of the best Sherryl songs Mayn has ever done. But then again, maybe you shouldnt judge a show from a camrip? -

Nah, not trying to start an argument (or derail the thread for that matter). I just find that ppl who have never lived here and dont speak the language are usually unable to see the real situation - through no fault of their own of course, since theres that whole tatamae/honne divide. Knowing how much management here normally expects back for ANY extra expenditure as well - makes things like subs unlikely in all sorts of ways that most ppl dont realise. But hey, thats just the experience of being in Japan for 1/3 of my life speaking ;-) Anyways - buy the blurays and prove me wrong everyone!!!! -

Sorry JasonC, but as someone who works in one a pretty major software/animation company and who knows both staff at Bandai and many many of the Japanese 'hardcore' fans, I am very certain of that. As a general rule, Japanese hardcore otaku less likely to either know english or give a damn about it than the regular population. Also, the number of Japanese in major corporations who speak passable english is very very minimal. Add to this the fact that even the few local translation companies that are foreign owned/run (and therefore do good translation jobs)often have so little knowledge of business culture/etiquette that they offend a LOT of major corporations unknowingly and...well yeah, I did not make the comment above off the top of my head. -

What, you think Satellite/Bandai wants to deal with the hassle of foreigners to make subtitles which are 100% useless for their local/core market? In a word, no. Sorry but thats the reality. I deal with it daily. -

I agree totally - proud owner of the whole series on blu here. I dunno why but buying stuff raw seemed to be more common for fans in the 90s than today....weird. And Keith, I salute your exemplary attitude good sir!
