Hey thanks Whispo!!!!!

Hey thanks for doing this! All your gifs have been top notch, extremely cool!

Hi! Is it possible to get a gif from Ep. 15 with Sheryl shamelessly flirting with Alto in her "What 'Bout My Star" duel with Ranka? Like the pic below? Thanks!

I could be mistaken about the cost per episode. I thought I read that somewhere... (ain't it cool news?) But I've also read that the first film cost @66+ million, so this new feature is almost half of that.
-
That's cool, but please don't have high expectations in seeing it. There are no mind-blowing revelations or action sequences. It is indeed slow-paced. From what I briefly read, this movie was relatively low-budget – @ 35 million which is close to the cost of one tv episode... Oh and I too bought that same dvd box set. Have yet to watch it though!

I will have to agree with Max Genius on this one and recommend it with reservations. I personally liked the film, but then again X-Files is my all-time favorite tv show (though I'm not an uber fan and remember all of the stats and episodes). It is indeed like one long regular episode on the big screen. The first film, "Fight the Future", had more Hollywood punch. "I Want to Believe" is slower moving and again like an extended episode, but a totally resolved story. No aliens, no government conspiracies, actually no supernatural oddities, nothing paranormal.... which some might think as boring. My husband and I both enjoyed it, especially seeing Mulder and Scully back in their usual forms.... and not so usual forms. (If you see it, you'll know what I mean.) It felt like home sweet home. I realize that many movie viewers have complained about why should they pay big bucks to see X-Files on a large screen. Especially when they could see more provocative episodes on dvd or SciFi Channel re-runs. Well, the truth is that X-Files is not coming back to the small screen... So I was happy to watch it in the theater. And will buy the dvd when it comes out.

Not sure if they're exactly treasures but here's just a couple of Macross 7 cels that my husband and I picked up at AX this year. We also got a couple of Mosepeada (Rei and Mint), a couple of Goldenboy cels, and a Jubei Ninja Scroll one. I've been collecting various cels since 2002 (Rurouni Kenshi, Fushigi Yuugi, YuYu Hakusho, Inuyasha, etc), just buying a few here and there. I got a DYRL Roy Fokker and a nice closeup of Hikaru (DYRL) back during AX2003. I just wish I could get a hold of cels like some of the beautiful DYRL Minmay and Misa ones that I've seen throughout this thread! Well without draining my bank account!

Just finished Macross 7 light spoilers
Reflex Point replied to bzdup's topic in Movies and TV Series
I grew up with Robotech as well and am still fond it. Shadow Chronicles, on the otherhand, was quite disappointing to me. It wasn't gawddamn awful, but for the 4 years that it took to be completed, I was expecting way more. Way more than a half-hour rehash of Reflex Point, an entire universe of women with DD breast implants and men with pect/crotch implants (equal opportunity I suppose), and mecha that look and move like plastic. Again not completely awful... but not good enough for me to buy, rent, or download. The only comfort I had in viewing it was hearing some of the original voice actors. But that's just my opinion. I digress though. As much as many people don't like Macross 7, I didn't think it was that bad. Same with Zero. Have you watched any of Frontier? IMO it's the best since DYRL in terms of animation, character development, mecha action sequences, music, everything overall. -
Yup. Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. For some blurry, grainy stills from the Comic Con trailer go to: here Or until it's taken down like it has been on many sites, here's the bootleg trailer: trailer

Aside from Wolverine, Gambit is my favorite X-Men character, so I'm not complaining! Ryan Reynolds is the perfect, wise-ass casting of Deadpool. And no, I wouldn't have thought of Liev Schreiber as Sabretooth at all, but I definitely think it's a good call. Schreiber is indeed a good actor and I agree with eugimon. He'll bring more depth and dimension to Victor Creed. Shoot... now I wish I'd gone to ComicCon. Both Tr2n and Wolverine!

Actually, my post was a little deceiving. Like Jasonc said in the above post, North Hollywood is a completely different area from Hollywood itself. The two cities are separated by Griffith Park, the 101 and 134 freeways. Let's just say North Hollywood was the site of the infamous shootout between two bank robbers and the LAPD back in 1997. Cheaper rent, but in general not exactly the safest place to live. As for Silverlake, I'm mainly basing it off what my cousin had told me about the area. I'd only visited there once back in 2003 to see a band play at the Echo. (http://www.attheecho.com/) Did I feel safe walking around the area back then? Not exactly... but then again, you're talking to a girl from the suburbs. Silverlake is also home to another popular club, Spaceland. (http://clubspaceland.com/). Supposedly it's the first LA club to book the Killers, the Shins, Snow Patrol, Keane, Arcade Fire, Arctic Monkeys.... Silverlake is relatively close to both Los Feliz and Hollywood. Like people have posted previously, Los Angeles is huge and spread out among many, many cities. There is not one central area that people hang out in like Manhattan or downtown SF. In general, the LA stomping grounds varies from Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, Hollywood Highland / Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, City Walk in Universal City, old town Pasadena, clubs at Hermosa Beach.... you can be driving 40+ miles from point A to B... but that's LA for you!
-
Well I grew up in the South Bay which is roughly 20-25 miles southwest of downtown LA and southeast of Santa Monica/West LA. Basically the suburbs so probably not what you're looking for. I will say that the great thing about the South Bay is that it's a good "middle" point between LA, Long Beach, and the OC. From what you've been describing, I think Silverlake would be a good fit for you. It's definitely a more artsy, eclectic community that has been steadily growing. My cousin who works for an indie cinematography magazine has lived there for close to 10 years and loves it. Rent used to be cheap there but is now rising since they've been re-developing the area, making it less "seedy" and more hip for the art and music crowd. Like any city in the LA area, there are good spots and bad spots. Personally, (besides the South Bay) I'd rather live in Santa Monica, Mar Vista, West LA, Pasadena, or any of the beach cities since I perceive those cities to be safer. Silverlake, however, is just south of Los Feliz so if you liked that area and felt comfortable there, you might want to check it out. Another alternative for you might be Hollywood. (Areas of North Hollywood can be shady however.) Hollywood has all the clubs and not just the glam ones either. Let's just say that Hollywood has the more exciting, fast-paced, urban scene and Silverlake has a more artsy, bohemian lifestyle IMO.

Should be interesting to see if indeed Flynn has become his nemesis Dillinger/Sark... or perhaps, as others have alluded in previous posts, the teaser trailer is truly a teaser and misleading the fans from the real plot. Can't wait to see more! I know that Tron looks quite dated compared to today's standards, but it was truly revolutionary back in 1982. First film to be primarily computer animated, it made a huge impact on me growing up. I never owned a light cycle toy (my brother had all three), but I named my bike Tron. As for the "ride", at least for Disneyland, Tron was part of the People Mover attraction in Tomorrowland. People would ride on slow-moving gondolas which would circle above Tomorrowland on a track. They would then enter a building which housed two sets of large projection screens which showed footage of the light cycles, battle tanks, and recognizers in motion as if the People Mover riders were experiencing the action first hand. Prior to Tron, the screens showed motorcross and formula one footage. Tron was a huge improvement. Unfortunately the People Mover was shut down awhile back and was replaced with the Rocket Rods (which sucked!). The Rocket Rods only lasted a couple of years and now when you visit Disneyland, there's this empty track that hovers above you. Hmmm... perhaps Disneyland will create something with that track after Tr2n comes out...

MW CON 2008 picture thread
Reflex Point replied to SpacePirateNeko's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Yeah. I was Reflex Point on RT.com, but would occasionally get mixed up with Reflexpoint who's a guy on the site. Those who knew me on the boards just called me by my real name "Cher" (Cheryl). BTW, Valkyrie22, Punkr, RazorX, jasonc, and I met Lisa&Rick at AX 2005 in Anaheim during Robocon20. That con was a blast! With all the voice actors, Michael Bradley performing, plus fans from Denmark, England, Venezuela, and all across the States showing up. That weekend was insane! 2006 was great as well with RT fans getting together and partying, but AX 2007 & 2008 haven't been the same. Not at all. There hasn't truly been a organized fan gathering the past several Anime Expos, at least not on a big scale. That's what was so great attending MacrossWorld Con this past weekend. Seeing fans interacting like one big giant family, sharing common interests, joking around, chillin, having a good time. I was registered on MW back in 2002/2003 as "kagero" and was mainly a lurker. Then the server went down and I never rejoined. My bad. I absolutely love DYRL! (have yet to watch the Macross tv series and after hearing a bit of the ADV dub, I'll watch it subbed.) I enjoyed Macross II and of course Macross Plus. My husband got me to watch Macross Zero and 7 several years ago and Frontier has me hooked! Frontier has the best of everything IMO. Deculture! -

Don't mean to butt-in, but I do remember "ryzui" from the RT.com Lounge a ways back. I used to frequent there a long time ago. Nice to see another familiar s/n! And congrats on winning the Minmay sketch! -
LOL! Actually I think misterryno would make a great Ozma Lee... He just has to grow out his hair, tie it in a ponytail, and maybe use a curling iron on the front. But if he wants to dress as Ranka, more power to him!

Reflex Point replied to SpacePirateNeko's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
I'd like to clarify that despite what Jason wrote, I'm not an ex-RT fan by no means. I grew up with Robotech and I have fond memories of it. Instead, I'd like to describe myself as anti-Shadow Chronicles and pro-Macross Frontier. Gee, I remember going out to Denny's after a Michael Bradley gig several years back. Tommy was sitting right across from me doing talking away and I dozed off throughout the whole thing.... but to give him the benefit of a doubt, that might've been due to the alcohol I consumed. -

LMAO! Yeah, it does feel like it's been awhile... I was debating about my s/n here, whether to just use plain, ol "Cher". But Reflex Point shall live on, reincarnated from the RT.com ashes. -

Reflex Point replied to SpacePirateNeko's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Hi guys! This is Cher, Jasonc's wife. Reflex Point was my s/n on RT.com. (Yes, I'm one of those people from over there. ) I just want to thank Bee and everyone who organized the con this year. This was my first MacrossWorld Con and it was absolutely great! Finally got to meet some of Jason's poker buds and see Tony's awesome collection that I'd been hearing about. The customs were impressive along with the various other collections on display. Plus to top it off with a yummy cake by Alex! Here's a few of the photos that I took. I didn’t shoot many (which I regret) and unfortunately, the customs pics are blurry. You can see the rest via my Photobucket Album:MacrossWorld Pics!! It was nice meeting some of you! Looking forward to meeting more next year! Cheryl (“Sheryu”)
