Would You Buy A Blu-ray/hd-dvd Player...
Dangard Ace replied to isamu's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
This is barely on topic and the topic is barely disguised as a Macross thread. Maybe 1 in every 4 posts. Everything else is blah blah sony, blah blah nintendo, blah blah microsoft. THIS IS NOT A GAME THREAD. If the next few posts aren't about Macross this thread gets locked and the persons responsible will have to deal with a weeks suspension. -

San Diego Comic Con Mw Meet Up Thread
Dangard Ace replied to Hoptimus's topic in Conventions and Local Gatherings
Just to let you guys know the only major exclusives I'm after is Alt. Nemesis Prime, Marvel Select Black Spiderwoman, and I intend to hunt them down preview night. Other then that the remaining days will be wandering the venues and convention floor. oh yeah, and some of those US-only walmart marvel legends figures. Maybe Cybertron Primus and Cybertron Metroplex as well depending on price. -
That's a nice looking piece. Personally I was waiting for it to price drop to around $75 before buying it but it vanished before that happened so...eh. I don't know if you'll get your $150 back, if it's been opened, since there's still a resin model of this being produced.

Would You Buy A New Perfect Variable 1/60 Vf-1?
Dangard Ace replied to Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0's topic in Toys
Yes, I'll buy a few just to see how they would compare to the old. Replace the old 1/60 line? Hell no. I like my pointy diecast killing throwing darts. -
Okay I'm just getting sick of reading threads getting continuously derailed by how "OMG I'm rich and you're not but I'm not going to show you pics" by Lord KungFu. This is not even going to be a "put up or shut up" post but a simple shut up and STAY ON TOPIC.

Like I said, Supes has got lots of bedrock(IIRC bedrock does have lead content in it) between himself and the kryptonite. Is he touching or anywhere near the kryptonite? No. He's smack dab in the center underneath the island with who knows how many meters of rock above hiim. The only thing falling around him is rock. Kryptonite is falling off at the edges of the mountain not at the center. The only time Kryptonite is shown penetrating the bedrock near the center is when he is almost in orbit. As for the small piece of kryptonite in his wound, eh, Singer used some creative license there. Probably going along with Donners version of Superman where a large chuck of Kryptonite around Supes neck didn't kill him or render him unconcious just made him weak(treading water in Superman 1). Going by that logic a small sliver was probably only slowly sapping away his recharged energy from the sun but not robbing him of his power completely. Case in point he survives the plummet back to earth and the needle doesn't penetrate his skin.
-
There was that tiny shard of kryptonite that they extracted from him in the hospital scene. I'm guessing small sliver broke off and was still embedded in the wound. 412573[/snapback] Oh yeah, forgot about that.

Supes vs Lex and Kumar go to white castle: Island has the properties of Kryptonite. Superman becomes as weak as a normal man when subjected to kryptonite. Of course Kumar can kick his ass then. Supes vs a)flying a mountain of kryptonite to space: And this is why Supes flew into magma, under the bedrock of the island. He created a natural barrier between himself and the island kryptonite. It's when he's in space that the kyptonite starts getting through the bedrock and near him. b)...krytonite in him: are we watching the same movie? Lois yanked out and tossed away the fragment of kryptonite before Supes did the above.

Yup. With so many movies lately focusing on the anti-hero being the hero, it's good to actually have a movie where the hero is the hero. ...and man James Marsden likes playing the whipping boy in these superhero movies.

Saw it tonight(early showing). Super. Grinning throughout the movie. This is what X3 should have been like. This is not your typical ADD summer blockbuster movie. Plenty of action all around but nothing like a boring super slugfest that X-men 3 was. Don't expect a dark gritty re-invention of the character like Batman Begins. Superman is a continuation from Superman 2, tossing out the horrible movies that Supe 3 & 4 were. He is about saving people, being the ultimate boy scout fighting for truth, justice and all that. This was the reintroduction of the Man of Steel to the world. Routh does a good Clark Kent and Supes and he really looks like he's a clone of Reeves in some scenes. Gotta work on the toothy Reeves smile though. Kate Bosworth gives a good performance. She outdoes her previous acting endeavor by a landslide(huh? What Blue Crush?). Spacey was great. He does a great continuation of Hackman's Luthor and since this comes after Donners films, AWESOME. All the whiny complaints about the cape, the suit, the CG, y'know what, after the first 1/2hr you don't even notice those things. And my god, I love that boat! Gonna go watch the iMax version on Sunday.

How about some original singers? Isao Sasaki Getter Robo Space Battleship Yamato Uuchu Senkan Yamato(longer) GoRanger! Dekaranger Live 2004 by Psychic Lover Ichirou Mizuki Mazinger Z Ah crap, do a search on youtube for more Ichirou Mizuki stuff. He did Jeeg, Great Mazinger and other stuff. -
1) Doesn't mean he sucks either. 2) personal opinion 3) Hitch's Authority is good. One of my favorites lately but he still uses up alot of space with his "widescreen" shots. Ultimate spiderman(Mark Bagley) is a good read but the colors are not to my liking. Never read Invincible. *edit* Good god, just looked up examples of Quitely stuff (new X-men, All-Star Superman) and all his characters have flat faces!! His style's got detail but more suited to indie comics/grittier stories not superhero stuff. I will say he's better then JRJR. 4) Hawk and Dove(88) and NM(89) the latter crap years of the 80's. While technically he started in the 80's he became a "superstar" in the 90's. 5) Madelyn died in Inferno. If the writers that came after retconned it, who's fault is that? Phoenix:Endsong completely rewrote what the Phoenix was. And about Claremont....everyone likes to complain against his writing style but who brought the X-men up from obscurity, when it was getting it's assed kicked by the Avengers, FF, JLA, JSA,..etc) to the superstar status it enjoys now?

1. Guess what Superman is back to planet pushing levels. At least Superboy Prime is and Superman beat his ass. 2. I'll agree it was flimsy but nasty? It's pulp paper. 3. And they did alot more with those four colors then what all the new comics can do with their photoshop fx. Old comic art was smart with lots of panels, character development and art. New comic art is lazy with giant splash screens and 3-4 panels per page.. 4. Liefield was the 90's. 5. You must be reading some different X-men books.

X-men 3 Pics: Beast And Angel Revealed
Dangard Ace replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
That's cause you remember him and Wolverine being the beer drinking, beer wagering, drinking duo. (I don't think they ever managed to bring back that awesome chemistry between the two after the Inferno storyline). When they focused the stories on Kurt he talked about his persecution and his belief in god pulling him through. I loved the 80's comic though. Original appearance of the Starjammers, Brood, Shi'ar, Hellfire Club, Dark Phoenix....X-men at it's best. -
X-men 3 Pics: Beast And Angel Revealed
Dangard Ace replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
Kurt was always portrayed as a religious man in the comics. There would be dialogue once in awhile regarding him believing in god while looking like the devil. Recently in the last few years he also became a priest(for a few books).
