Macross Frontier Movie 1,YES it is subbed now edition
nexxstrait replied to sharky's topic in Movies and TV Series
Well, someone's got to be really disappointed, then. Only 3 of the 4 parts of the camrip file are "out" because the 3rd one won't be "published" until someone donates money to the uploader. That's hilarious. -
By "western" you mean "American", right? Even Macek and the other Robotech "authors" said several times that with "westernizing" they really meant "something that an average viewer can watch on american TV" It's interesting to note that HG was (is still?) owned by a financial partner (in crime) of Silvio Berlusconi, Frank "Farouk" Agrama. He had a company in Rome that used to re-sell inflated movie rights to the industry. In Italy Robotech was first broadcast on Berlusconi's tv networks, famous for their "butcher-approach" to anime series. Coincidence? Still, for all the butchering (no nudes, several name changes and other "minor" cuts), Italy was somehow an anime paradise. Nothing compared to what americans did with Robotech, which was not the only frankenstein-series out there, from what I heard: Voltron, Force Five and (gods forgive them) Captain harlock and the Queen of a Thousand years.

I feel sorry for you, guys. Macross italian dub was excellent (not a masterpiece if compared to other productions, but still excellent). We generally have very high standards when it comes to dubs, as we have a long tradition/industry of top notch adaptations.

Official 1/100 BANDAI VF Hi Metal VF-1J Valkyrie
nexxstrait replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Toys
It seems a common problem with 1/60 v2 owners. Even in Macross Chronicle and official pics those shoulders are never posed as they should be. See the 1/60VF1S in the comparison pic above: THAT is the correct way to pose the shoulders. I personally hate head position, too, but there's a way to mitigate the ugliness: just keep the chest piece slightly "up". But it's all a matter of taste, as many have said before. I personally am a sucker for VF1Js and I'll buy everything they'll throw at me, regardless. Thus said and, back on topic, If this new 1/100 from Bandai has the same quality of the HM VF19 Kay, It's sure going to be a win! -

I have a feeling the shoulders won't be a problem at all, since in all of the VF1 iterations over the years, only Yamato 1/60 v2 made it a buyer's nightmare. -
From Macross F news preview: #48 will have Macross Frontier Mechanical sheet (island 1) #49 will have VT1 and VE1, plus Vajra worldguide (not sure about this) Having seen this gorgeous VF3000 preview page, I still can't believe they have not given us a color VF4 Hikaru Battroid. Grrrrr....

I understand you eagerness, but quality DOES matter. I remeber watching MF Episode 7 in an awful .rm file because I could'nt wait for the higher quality avi to come out. Terrible experience. "Never again" I said. -
Official 1/100 BANDAI VF Hi Metal VF-1J Valkyrie
nexxstrait replied to Black Valkyrie's topic in Toys
I wouldn't worry about scale too much. We have already seen that different same-scale toys can vary greatly from iteration to iteration. Take the 1/55 VF1 MPC. In fighter mode it's exacly the same scale as the old and new Yamato 1/60 VF1, but in Battrod it's much bigger. I think the head of the 1J Hi-Metal will reach the VF19's chest. -
Wow, super fast! Uh!, They crammed all those characters in a single sheet? Pity, I love Rex's gang. Any juicy pics?

Revoltech old (small) and new (transformable) VS Yamato GNU and Toynamy transformable 1/100 comparison pics (picture quality is awful, I know). Front Back Side . Note: even if they are the same size, the revoltechs heads cannot be swapped between the old model and the new one without modification (due to different holes size in the neck) PS: the new revoltech hip joints are a royal pain in the you-know-what. The good news is that they can easily be fixed by using some very thin sheet of paper to make them tight. Remove the revoltech joint, disassemble it and put the paper inside. Reassemble, take off the excess paper and put the joint back into the leg and hip sockets. Now your Battroid can stand on his own and look pretty. I used some toilet paper to do the trick (Oh, the irony!).

Official Bandai 1/100 VF HI-METAL VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie
nexxstrait replied to QuinJester's topic in Toys
The Fire Valkyrie on the back is a painted 1/72 WAVE soft vinyl kit, the grey one is the recent VF0S model kit (unpainted), also from WAVE. -
Being a happy customer of both versions, I don't see the GNU 1J as particularly mind blowing if compared to the new revoltech. While nicely sculpted (legs leave something to be desired, though), mine is a messy flop around the waist and articulations. It doesn't transform and is more expensive than the revoltech. Now, call me crazy but I like them both despite their failings! Comparison pics coming later.

Official Bandai 1/100 VF HI-METAL VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie
nexxstrait replied to QuinJester's topic in Toys
Finally managed to get my hands on Fire This Valkyrie is a thing of beauty. It took Bandai 15 years, but they finally made it right. Yamato's better be ready to deliver a completely re-engineered 1/60 19Kay or they will never top this toy. Size comparison, for those interested Details are awesome and the toy looks gorgeous! It's still too expensive, but you won't regret it once you have it. Some bad things: The hands are floppy (pity), the lack of landing gears doesn't bother me, but they should have included them. No closed hands. The same goes for a stand. Why bother to include the support without the stand??? (don't answer, I know why they do it). Some more comparisons: PS: I bought the Revoltech transformable 1J you see here with the Fire Valkyrie. The bad news is that, yes, Battroid mode is a floppy nightmare, BUT... if you manage to pose it right, It's quite enjoyable and fighter mode (very tight) in not as bad as I thought. On the plus side, The Revoltech is bigger than expected and is perhaps the cheapest transformable Valkyrie out there. -
Is it only me or Mikimoto (or his assistants) is basing his VF fighter design on the good 'ol Yamato 1/60 1.0? I find it quite amusing
