for sure. i could make one out of sculpey, just so it's a little stronger to prevent breakage from play (I don't know how many of us "play" with our toys, but mine occasionally get flown around the room)
-
just posted another one on ebay, for those interested. btw, thanks for all the knid words on this guy harry - "physioguy" - "briareos" on ebay

i Can't believe i waited so long to see this trailer! I hope it's the old stories incorporated since some of those old mechs/landmates were the best ever. I make customs and i can wait to see some full color versions of those landmates, as you can see, mine have been on the plain side, colorwise... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3185425454 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3284634523

Thanks again for the kind words. The head was just painted proper, and the space between the eye bars was filled in first. If the price gets higher, I'll probably do a whole custom head for the winner and my own one at the same time. It wouldn't be too hard with a scalpel and some sculpey. I wish they were cheaper so i could make a fleet of them. I'm also desperately waiting for a yamato pod, along with the rest of you I'm sure. harry

again, thanks for all the kind words. just a tip for those who are like minded and don't like the glossy finish on the yamato RAUs. If you buy a Matte Enamel clear coat, comes in a spray can, a light spray can cure the shine. I did it with my red rau. You just have to be careful not to overspray it (cuz totally dull finish doesn't look too sharp either), or to spray it unevenly. Also, get a good quality spray. Krylon works well for me

I couldn't help it, so i stayed up late and detailed the rau a bit more to my liking. Thanks for all the kind words so far. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...item=3185584117 I don't know how to post images, but if someone could do that for me, that would be great. Also, Graham, I will send some higher res photos when able. harry

i think i'll do the proper markings on it in the future, but i'm too busy with work right now. I'll probably mask them off and paint some of them on, and just freehand paint the others

unfortunately, no miria figure mod yet, because i'm not certain of the color scheme.

here's my latest custom. I was thinking of doing all the detailed zentraedi writing, but that'll wait for another day. Once that's done I think it'll look better. http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewIt...MESSE%3AIT&rd=1

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...egory=1345&rd=1 i only put one up for auction, but i thought it'd go for a lot more than that. I put so much time into it. oh well, win some, lose some... For all the shirow fans out there, I'm trying to make a custom 6-armed robot from the Black Magic books, and i need more M-66 bodies. They can be any color variation out there? Also, any Tachikoma color variations too? I know it's a longshot, but hopefully someone has some kicking around, that i could buy for a nominal price thanks fans, harry

all that exo-robotech stuff that is worth anything (troopers, regaults,...) will soon be worth nothing, since I'm sure Yamato will make some wicked pods for us in the future!

My custom Appleseed landmates, 3 types
physioguy replied to physioguy's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
they are about 7-8 inches tall, and the human figure is only abou 3 inches, smaller than a G.I.Joe. The mates were from exosquad toys, the briareos was from a mcfarlane ninja figure from metal-gear, and the little one was from a transformers PVC -
I know most of you saw my custom landmates before, but i have made a new minature one, and am selling one of my first 2 (but of course, i'm keeping the Deunan one) These are the pics of my old ones, as well as my miniature one. With respect to the little one, I'm going to redo the head, and I'm just finishing up his 2 budies in different poses, so the should look a lot better with new heads and as a team. I plane to do a bunch of Gashapon size figures, but hopefully some company in Japan will give us some... like a intron depot PVC or GitS PVC -size figure of briareos and deunan! Here's a link to the auctions for the one http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcI...&sort=3&rows=25

are these the same line as the kaiyodo gashapon? or is this a new set, by some other company? Also, if this is kaiyodo, did i miss the pic of the 2nd set

The big Masamune Shirow appreciation thread
physioguy replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
the appleseed animation doesn't do it any justice. the book is far better. Ghost in the shell was a better adaptation, and SAC for GitS is more like how Shirow tells stories. -
The big Masamune Shirow appreciation thread
physioguy replied to bsu legato's topic in Anime or Science Fiction
hahoo! I'm still here. I don't stroll through the off-topic category too much, but i think thats changed now that i see it's so full of great topics. Shirow is (was?) the best. I agree with a lot of you, that his earlier works (mid-appleseed) were beautiful and defining. But he has since redefined himself as a very CG-skilled pinup artist. I like like naked honeys as much as the next guy, but i had to sell intron depot #2 (BLADES) because it was nothing but skanky women. I've bought and kept #3 (BALLISTICS) because some of the prints are pretty amazing, but who wouldn't go for a round of landmates done with all his millenium-CG skills?!? I think his skills are being wasted nowadays. If the Warchowski-(sp?)-brothers did a porno... it would be pretty good, I'm sure. ... but why would they do that if they could make Matrix movies instead. What we all need (speaking as if I'm the captain of the fan-club), is: - a mecha-heavy intron depot #4 - Appleseed gashapon toys - yamato landmate toys - highly detailed briareos with interactive parts well, at least Black Magic on DVD *please don't go off on the matrix-tangent now, even if you didn't like the films, it was just an example. -
I just made a tiny gashapon sized landmate, but it's unpainted yet. i would love to make a whole little army of landmates, cyborgs, cops, orcs, tanks and characters from appleseed. They following is my custom briareos action figure and statue, made many years ago.
-
Thanks to all for the kind words. it's a lot smaller than the yamato one, as deunan is only about 3 inches tall in my version. I'm bored with toys right now since yamato has slowed down a bit, and the MPPrime is out in December. So my latest project is a complete line of gashapon sized landmates, cyborgs and characters from appleseed. My old MW name was briareos, so i guess i see who's got it now... briareos.
-
Some of you MW members wanted to see my landmate customs, but i can't remember exactly who, so here they are. Based on an exosquad toy, which was based on the Macross destroids. Not totally Macross... more like it's 2nd cousin... but i can't find any Appleseed forums

I know near 100% of people will disagree with this, but i want to know if there's anyone out there with similar points of view. Now before everyone jumps in to tell me all the merits of the 1/48, please understand, I totally revere the 1/48 as an engineering marvel... a thing of great beauty.... but I think the canopy is too bubbly, some of the body and legs look too smooth (ie: not enough or deep enough panel lines) and worst of all the arms and hands are so unproportionately skinny. In battroid, the arms just make it look really weak, whereas the 1/60 look stockier and more substantial. Yes, it sucks that the legs need to be re-situated for transformation, and I've customized all the "fists" to "hands", but i really like the overall look. *Also, I have handled and transformed a 1/48 1A even though i don't own one
